About Phelim & Michelle McDaid
We live in Dublin, Ireland with our children. We have holidayed in France for many years. After discovering St Cyprien in 2002, we returned here every year, such was the attraction of the place for us! We are still making new discoveries each time we go. The place is steeped in history and culture. We love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of St Cyprien and the Catalan feel to the place. We love the food and wine and the marvellous beaches which are on our doorstep. We never cease to appreciate the marvellous view of the marina and mountains as we sit on our balcony! We treasure our daily walk/run/cycle around the laguna each morning to start our day!

Why Phelim & Michelle McDaid chose Saint-Cyprien Plage
St Cyprien, with 300+ days sunshine a year, has a wonderful blend of getting away from it all, with great restaurants and activities on your doorstep. Set against the backdrop of the Pyrenees, there is a wonderful sandy beach just across the road, and the apartment complex backs on to the lovely marina of la lagune. There is a boulangerie just across the road for early morning baguette and croissants, while there is a variety of shops just a 10 minute walk down the road, with local produce including Catalan cheeses, meats and wines available and some lovely restaurants. The area is easily accessible by flight from Ireland and UK to many locations including Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Girona, Barcelona, Beziers and Rodez. There is a train service to nearby Elne and Argeles sur Mer.
What makes this Apartment unique
We enjoy a run around the lagune each morning, collecting fresh bread from the boulangerie on our way home to enjoy breakfast al fresco on the balcony. The beach and pool are just across the road. Many other pretty villages are just a €1 bus-ride away. The cliff walk from Racou to Collioure, followed by moules-frites and a glass of rosé is a personal favourite way to spend an afternoon. There are plenty and varied restaurants in walking or biking distance. Aqualand waterpark is a fantastic attraction just 5 mins down the road. We have stayed in resorts where people have travelled hours to such facilities! Being within driving distance to Spain is an added bonus of this location. Figueres, home of Salvador Dali with its wacky museum is a must see!

Great Spot for Families
This apartment is in a great location, away from the more touristy areas further along the coast.
The beach is a natural one with dunes and is not too busy in the summer months (from what we could see).
The pool, shared with the adjacent apartment isn't huge but is perfectly suited for children of most ages.
The apartment itself is clean and equipped for most things a family would need. The provision of beach towels and bath towels is very much appreciated as it allows you to carry onboard luggage, avoiding extra baggage charges.
The alimentation/shop nearby is ideal for collecting your daily baguettes (which appears to be compulsory in France!) and other basics. The ready cooked chicken and pizza is ideal for a quick and easy meal when you've just arrived.
The owners provided extensive details of places to visit and things to see if there was ever a chance of getting bored of being on the beach (we didn't but forced ourselves to explore a little!)
I would recommend this apartment and location to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday with the chaos of a heavily populated tourist resort.

The “Petit Train Jaune de la Cerdagne" runs along a 63km route, climbing steeply from Villefranche-de-Conflent to Bolquère and then crossing the plateau of the Cerdagne to Latour-de-Carol. Bolquere is the highest station in France at 1593m. Although expensive for a family, there is some dramatic scenery here so you could just go part of the way. The best scenery is towards the Mediterranean.
