Villa in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Canary Islands - Private, Peaceful Location: 7 Minute Walk to Family Beach, Shops and Restaurants
About Donna Hartley
We are Donna and Steven Hartley. We live in the bracing North of England and have fallen love with Playa Blanca and Casa Rachel. It's our haven in the sunshine which has ideal space for our extended family to get together in a perfect climate at any time of the year. We find it is ideal for all our ages being totally on one level and the internal layout makes it suitable for couples, two families or for a large family group.
Donna Hartley purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Donna Hartley chose Playa Blanca
We chose this villa because of its peaceful residential location with lovely sea views but also its closeness to beaches, shops and restaurants. As garden lovers we cherish our private and secluded garden with mature planting around its heated swimming pool and hot tub. It provides the perfect place to unwind under the shade of the palm trees and pergola.
Pool / Spa
The maximum number to reside in the property must not exceed the number booked. All guests should please respect and take care of our home. It should be left in a reasonably clean and tidy condition when you leave. It should be kept secure at all times. Please do not cause a disturbance to residents in neighbouring properties. Any breakdowns, defects or breakages are to be reported immediately so as to arrange for repair / replacement asap. Children must be supervised and in particular should not be left unattended in the pool or surrounding area. Please dry your feet after swimming before going into the villa as wet floor tiles are slippery. Diving is not allowed Glass is invisible in water: please do not take glass near the pool.... there is a good selection of plastic "glassware" and crockery for use outside. Please walk only on the paved areas and not the planted beds as: a) the volcanic mulch clogs the pool filters and breaks the floor tiles if it sticks to shoe soles, b) there is a green water irrigation system. Do not turn on the air con when the windows/ doors are open: it doesn't work. Do have a lovely relaxing and enjoyable holiday: this is mandatory!
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
A perfect place to stay
What can you say about Casa Rachel that has not already been said.
Firstly it is owned by Donna and Steven, who are so committed to making sure that all their guests have a pleasant stay that they have created a perfect haven around them.
The location of the villa is excellent from the views in the garden, and is so well equipped that you don’t need for anything, from all you need for small children like plates, cups, high chairs, cot,to all the safety things they need in the swimming pool.
Things like towels are changed every few days we had 3 changes in our 11 day stay.
The heated pool is very welcoming if you are staying in the cooler month, we stayed in March.
From our experience we would thoroughly recommend a stay at Casa Rachel, we will certainly be going back as it proved to be the best villa we have stayed in with either HomeAway or Air bnb.
Playa Blanca is a slightly more laid back place than Playa Carmen but there are plenty of places to eat a walking distance away .
An Aqua Park just along the road is a great place for children
Brilliant family holiday
This was our first holiday as a family with our 1 year old daughter. The villa was fantastic, it had a lot of toys to keep her occupied and when she had naps the heated pool and hot tub were the perfect way to relax! Restaurants and shops are only a 10 minute walk away and it is well located. Will certainly return again, thank you Donna, we really enjoyed our stay at your villa :)
Thank you for your appreciation:
we are so pleased that your first family holiday was such a success; and we will love to welcome you back as your little one grows.
Casa Rachel offers the same warm welcome to little families, great big extended families or just a couple needing a bit of peace and special time in the sunshine .
Family holiday of all ages
The owner was great to communicate with and answered any questions we had. The management company were also very helpful. The villa is clean and spacious. The nearest restaurants and shops are approx 10 minute walk away along with the beach. The main town is walkable but took around 30mins. Taxis are very efficient and only cost 4 euros to take you into the town. There are some really lovely restaurants around and would recommend staying here.
2 family holiday in the sun☀️☀️
Excellent communication from Donna, villa in good Location, we’ll equipped, a great no hassle holiday 👍🏻
That’s excellent: a no hassle holiday is exactly what we aim for.
Do come back again: you’ll be very welcome.
Beautiful villa in a great location
Casa Rachel is a fantastic villa, beautifully decorated and maintained with all the equipment you could possibly need. The property is deceptively spacious, with plenty of room for our family of 6. 3 bathrooms was a real luxury! The outside area is wonderful - plenty of space to relax and enjoy the garden, pool and hot tub.
It's a great location too - only a short walk to the beach and restaurants - and only 40 minutes to the top of a volcano!
The booking process was very smooth and Donna contacted us on a number of occasions before our stay.
We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend!
A slice of heaven
The villa is tucked away, in a peaceful location. It is furnished to a very high standard with our every need firstly considered and then catered for. There was even a funnel that we used to decant water from the huge bottle into a small fridge friendly container! And a squeegee to clean the shower glass (just like home)!! The recently refurbished bathrooms and kitchen really added to the wow factor.
The grounds are totally private with lots of shade provided by poolside trees and pretty plants. The pool was immaculate and provided a cool sanctuary from the sun. The generous pool steps are also ideal for those who cannot face a sudden plunge.
We have stayed in many private villas before, but Casa Rachel is by far the best "home from home" that we have found to date. Thank you for allowing us to share a slice of your heaven, if only for a week!
Thank you for your kind words.
We are delighted that you have so appreciated your “slice of heaven”. You will be very welcome to come back for another slice anytime.
I think that the reason it feels like a “home from home” is that it IS our home: a home that we love to share with our guests.
Do come back soon.
There are 3 beautiful yellow sandy beaches in Playa Blanca - the busy Dorada beach with water sports, the central Playa Blanca beach and the lovely Playa Flamingo beach which is only a 7 minute walk away fom us. This has sea walls which restrict the strength of the tides and make it perfect for children. A 15 minute car journey takes you to the world renowned, unspoiled Papagayo beaches. These special beaches can also be accessed by a boat trip from the harbour, including a glass bottomed boat.
Arrecife airport is a 30 mins drive. The villa can also be accessed by taxis or mini bus. Car hire is available for collection at the airport or can be delivered to the villa at any time during your stay. CAR HIRE IS NOT NECESSARY as all is within walking distance, but it CAN BE RECOMMENDED in order to explore this unique island with it's special marriage of nature and art. Everywhere is within an hour's travel on roads that are generally excellent.
It is only a 7 min. walk to the beautiful, child friendly Flamingo Beach. Here you will find a variety of restaurants, shops and supermarkets. It is a further 12 mins. walk along the coastal promenade to the harbour, the town centre... then the Rubicon marina. A 2 mins. car journey (3/4 mile) takes you to the Spar supermarket next to the harbour, bike hire and other shops and restaurants. It is a 10 min. walk to the right to La Mulata with it's smart bars and varied fabulous restaurants.
It is good to explore Timanfaya National park with its coach tour around the volcanoes and lava fields, camel rides and restaurant which cooks using geo-thermal heat.
You could also visit the beautiful village of Yaiza – the only lasting village to survive the last volcanic eruptions of 280 years ago or the quaint fishing village of El Golfo with its volcanic crater filled with green sea water, black sands and wierd rock formations.
From the villa take 30 minutes to climb the neighbouring extinct Red Volcano for fabulous views and walk inside the rim.
There is a new water park just a 2 min walk away.
There is go-karting 20 minutes drive away near the airport.
There are frequent ferry trips from the harbour to the nearby island of Fuerteventura which take 20 minutes or try the glass bottomed boat to the renowned Papagayo beaches.Or, maybe the yellow submarine.
Amenities, shops, restaurants, supermarkets and banks are within walking distance.
There are local markets, diving, cycling, tennis, sailing, deep sea fishing, wind surfing and segway tours in Playa Blanca.
