'Los Sauces' ('The Willows') is situated only a few minutes walk from the unspoiled blue flag beaches of Oliva, which enjoy many highly recommended restaurants, bars and local shops. Los Sauces is a pretty, detached, Casita (small house) in a beautiful, private, fully fenced and gated plot with mature trees, grass, a private pool and even a set of football goalposts (for kids or others with too much energy). It is located in a quiet residential area, only a short walk from the natural sand dune beaches that stretch for miles along one of Spain's few remaining unspoiled coastlines. It has a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for holiday or long term accommodation. Satellite TV, DVD and video, FREE WiFi, dish washer, music centre, air conditioning, hairdryer and all modern conveniences are provided; even a free telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.

About Janice and Carl

I moved to Spain with my family (husband and 2 boys) in January 2000 and we bought Los Sauces in 2001 as an overgrown plot with a cute house in need of some tlc. After a couple of years of preparation we were able to move in and loved living there for nearly 4 yrs. One of our boys was a goalie for a local club, hence the goalposts and the other played basketball for Gandia (they're now grown up and living away from home); Spain is fabulous for the outdoor life. We have now moved a little further inland; only around 20 minutes away, but still love our beach casita. One day, I'm sure we'll move back as the location is perfect.

Why Janice and Carl chose Oliva

We'd always wanted a home by the sea and where better than where there are over 300 days of sun per year and stunning sandy beaches that stretch for miles.

Oliva is a traditional Spanish working town full of life and character, easy to live in for the locals and visitors alike. My husband runs a successful business there.

'Los Sauces' is located in a quiet residential area with all amenities close to hand and is great for popping down to the beach or shopping in town. Oliva has the best market (Friday mornings) in the whole of La Safor (the name of the local region).

The town of Oliva remains very Spanish although it has a mix of English bars, restaurants and pubs so you can get a cup of tea if desperate or simply enjoy the wealth of local Spanish bars and restaurants where a typical 'menu del día' (lunchtime 3 course meal with wine) is still well under 10€.

What makes this villa unique

Our lovely casita, Los Sauces (The Willows), was built by a local builder and used by him and his family for many years.

Traditionally ‘casitas’ were used by Spanish families for weekends, fiestas and summer breaks and are often found in the country or along the coast. They provided fresh air and outdoor space for those who normally lived in town houses or flats in the village where they worked. Unfortunately not many survive today as developers are keen to utilise their land and extend or demolish them making way for new buildings and urbanisations. Our casita is small (as to be expected) but what it lacks in size it makes up for in character and location.

Privacy has always been of primary importance to us and we have loved the outdoor life there away from prying eyes.

Notes on accommodation: As well as the football goal posts, there is a selection of kiddies toys and bits for the pool. There are also a variety of board games and reading material, TV, and music centre to ensure you’ve always something to entertain yourself with. WIFI or cabled Internet if you bring your computer. The upper floor of the house is accessed via an external staircase and has a large sun terrace with views toward the coast and mountains behind and access to the attic room which has 2 single beds, air con (hot and cold), a toilet and sink, a large toy box (full-ish) please note that the attic room is full height only at the apex of the roof). We can supply a cleaning service if you wish which includes a change of bed linen and fresh towels (charged separately). A travel cot with mattress and high chair are available for guests to use. There are also various heaters and fans for use in the house depending on season. Outside: Very private fully fenced grassed plot, with mature trees and plenty of outside eating, relaxing and sunbathing areas. The main terrace also has two 'toldos' (extending sun blinds), which help provide more shade if needed. There is a raised circular 5½m diameter pool (depth 1.20 metres) which has its own pump and filter, as well as a goalpost and ‘football pitch’. The pool is safe for little ones as they can't fall into it and the access steps can be easily removed. To the rear of the property you will find a very useful outdoor shower with hot and cold water which is great for rinsing sand off after a trip to the beach and for a quick cool down (yes it does have a curtain and is private!) Secure off street parking, Barbecue, paellero, sun loungers etc. The garden is watered automatically using ground water pumped from a bore hole (not a well so no danger of falling in!), but we are able to keep the grass green all year round (a rarity in sunny climes). Utility Room: Outside in one of our 2 wooden sheds you will find a tumble dryer, ironing board, rotary clothes line, pegs, high chair and travel cot and storage room etc. The other shed houses gardening equipment so if you fancy a bus-man's holiday, feel free! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We supply bed linen and towels at the beginning of your stay. The pool is cleaned on a weekly basis and this may occur during your stay especially in summer. Cleaning service available with change of bed linen and towels (charged separately). Other: 2 large sun terraces with views toward the coast and mountains behind. Main terrace has two extending sun blinds which provide extra shade when needed. Pool - raised circular 5½m diameter, mini football pitch and goalpost. Off-street parking.

Wonderful, secluded, spacious property in a beautiful location

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Los Sauces and had a wonderful time, the property is absolutely perfect for a relaxing family holiday. The best feature is the enormous plot (including large football goal and above ground pool) which kept our children busy throughout, especially our active 12-year old football-mad son). The pool was chilly due to the time of year, but good for a bracing dip after a bit of sun. The bedrooms are compact but perfectly adequate with a good sized kitchen and lounge, with fast wifi and satellite TV & even Netflix. There is even a free internet phone so you can book local restaurants etc without having to call internationally on your mobiles.

We really enjoyed the private outside shower and sense of space and tranquillity as it gave a proper chance to relax and get away from it all.

The nearby beach is beautiful with a number of bars and restaurants within walking distance, there are further options and good supermarkets a 5 min drive away in Oliva with plentiful free parking.

Carl and Janice could not have been more helpful from our very first enquiry and were a pleasure to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble, even sourcing shopping on our arrival and an extra mirror for us within minutes of our request! Thanks also for the free wine provided on arrival!

We would recommend this accommodation to anyone without hesitation!

Our holiday at Los Sauces.

We stayed at Los Sauces from 19th April until 12th May 2018, we enjoyed the location to the beach, marina and to Oliva itself. The Villa has superb gardens that are quiet, private and well stocked with a variety of plants ensuring you do enjoy the tranquillity of the region. The wine on arrival was a nice treat and really welcome ( it was a great choice of wine that was selected ). The Villa had everything that we required with the Naya being the central point off our relaxation.

We would strongly recommend staying at Los Sauces with both Carl and Janice being great hosts with nothing being too much trouble 10/10.

Everything we needed!

Thank you to Carl and Janice for making our stay so pleasurable. We had everything we needed and really appreciated you going the extra mile on our arrival day! Sorry we kept you waiting.

We both slept very well and the beds were really comfortable and warm. It was a bit nippy when we arrived and welcomed the duvet and extra blankets that were provided. It wasn't cold enough for the blanket but we certainly needed the duvets to snuggle under. According to my Fitbit, while we were there I had more than double the deep sleep I normally get in England.... Will have to come back to get some quality sleep again!

We didn't do any real cooking but we could see that all the facilities were there if we'd wanted to!

I enjoyed sitting in the garden and the jasmine smelt beautiful. I wished we'd been there a bit longer as I could see the wisteria was about to flower and the bottle brush bush too, which will be stunning soon. Such a nice garden :-)

Thanks again to both of you and will hopefully see you again.

An attractive Casita in a pleasant residential area.

An excellent large enclosed garden. First class facilities e.g. Sat TV. WiFi and free telephone. Wonderful sandy beaches a short walk away. Good local restaurants and close to the town of Oliva, which is a typical Spanish working town - all year round. Only docked one star for small bedrooms possibly typical of a Casita. Probably 9 out of 10 would be a fairer score. We very much enjoyed our private and relaxing stay. Must do it again!!!

Of course there isn't anything we can do about the size of the bedrooms in the interim; they are what they are, but we have always found them more than adequate and very comfortable. They're fine for sleeping, but you're not going to have a party in them; probably best for only one person at a time getting dressed too. Super relaxing. Great garden which was loved by our Dog and us. Our privilege to be there when the Wisteria started exploding its seeds at the windows! Fab access to the beach which, more often than not, we had to ourselves. Whole area very dog friendly. Would not hesitate to rebook. Thank you Carl and Janice from Pete and Marion

600 metres to Oliva's primary beach, one of 6 recognised beaches most of which have won the coveted ‘Blue Flag’ European standard denoting cleanliness, quality and services provided. In the summer months, beach bars or 'chiringuitos' open up on the sand and are a fun and relaxing way to spend time, day and night. Pedaloes, windsurfing, kite surfing, beach volleyball and football, kids play area, Red Cross services, restaurants and bars, supermarkets, chemists, doctors are all available.


Oliva is easily accessed from both Valencia (50 minute drive) and Alicante (just over an hour) airports. Murcia airport is a 2 hour drive and Barcelona or Madrid are just under 4 hours. We recommend you have use of a car to fully exploit the area, but it is quite practical to get to and from Alicante and Valencia airports to Oliva by public transport or taxi/private hire.


At Los Sauces you will find lots of information regarding local activities, places to go, restaurants, theme parks, bus and taxi services etc. By car: Oliva town, 3 minutes, Gandia, 15 minutes, Valencia, 50 minutes, Denia, 20 minutes, Benidorm 40 minutes.

The historic town of Oliva can be found on the southern tip of the Costa Azahar (the Orange Blossom Coast) at the top of the Costa Blanca and has over 10 km of golden sands to offer residents and visitors alike. The area has traditionally been famous for its oranges and other citrus fruits, as well as olives, cherries and almonds. This area of Spain enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, mild winters and pleasantly warm summers which means that the outdoor life can be enjoyed for most of the year. The town of Oliva offers everything you could want. The old town is steeped in history with its cobbled streets, traditional town houses and shops, two landmark churches and three museums all overlooked by the remains of a Moorish castle, El Castillo de Santa Ana, (fantastic views over the whole of Oliva to the coast and beyond) The town hosts local fiestas and fairs and has a fantastic 'paseo' (walkway), which is used during the day by busy shoppers and people going about their normal daily business and every evening and weekend by the townsfolk to 'pasear' (stroll) along the tree lined route and stop at the many bars, cafes and restaurants along the way. The weekly market, (which is probably the best in the whole region, the area is known as La Safor) is held here every Friday morning. Sports and leisure facilities to be enjoyed in and around Oliva include -golf, fishing, sailing, canoeing, jet-skiing, kite surfing, tennis, cycling, horse riding, scuba diving, go-karting, health spa etc. Oliva's sports centre has both indoor and outdoor pools, all-weather football pitches, basketball courts, gymnasium, athletics track etc. crazy golf and trampolines. Within an easy drive are two water parks, one in Cullera and the other in Benidorm each around 35 minutes away. Also in Benidorm you will find the Terra Mitica theme park and Terra Natura nature reserve plus Mundo Mar "sea world". All of which provide a great day out! You can also visit Benidorm Palace as 'shown on TV!' The area is fabulous for walkers and hikers too; you can just wander in the orange groves or along the beach or if you have too much energy there are many mountain walks to explore.

We offer all types of English courses for our guests. I am a TESOL qualified English teacher and native speaker with many years experience as a trainer in business and as a teacher. I currently work in 2 Language Schools in Gandia and with the Town Hall in Bellreguard (a town near to the casita). I teach all levels and ages, including conversational and business English and official Government run courses. Booking Notes:
When you book, we will send you a rental agreement which we ask that you sign and return to us. We ask that you pay a deposit of £250 (non-returnable if you cancel your stay). This becomes a returnable security deposit for the duration of your holiday and will be returned to you within 15 days of your departure less any deductions for damages or costs for excessive cleaning etc. Final payment should be made 8 weeks prior to departure. For longer term lets other conditions may apply.

Changeover Day:
Change over can be arranged for any day; we ask you to vacate the property by 11:00 and check-in for new guests is after 3pm. Please ask if you require alternative arrangements and we shall do our best to accommodate them.

Notes on prices:
Discounts are available for lets of 4 weeks or longer duration, except during the months of June, July and August. If you like the idea of spending a warm sunny winter in Spain please contact us and we would be happy to provide you with details of the savings you could make. The casita is also available for short stays and weekend breaks except in June, July and August. The minimum stay is two nights.
