Tiwi House is tucked into a gentle curve of the beach at the north end of Tiwi beach. The property consists of a fully furnished and equipped four-bedroom house, with a swimming pool between verandah and beach. The house has an amazing ocean landscape. We have our own private steps down coral cliffs to a quiet beach. Tiwi House sleeps 9 in 4 bedrooms that have their own individual bathrooms with ceiling fans, some air conditioning and a full staff. Holiday letting is all the year round including Easter, Christmas and the New Year. Relax, swim in sea or pool, sunbathe, go sightseeing and shopping in Diani; snorkelling, diving, bird-watching, sailing, water sports and deep sea fishing are all available; a 40 minute drive takes you to the Shimba Hills Game Park and lodge; an hour and a half to Shimoni and the Maritime Park.

About Vivi and John Marshall
We live in England but spend a great deal of our time in Kenya, where we have made friends and enjoy the country. We love Tiwi for the private nature of its beach; the Kisite Marine Park boasts some of the best snorkelling and fun scuba diving there is. Nearby Diani has some very good restaurants. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Ukunda airport less than 35 minutes drive away and 90 minutes to Moi International at Mombasa. The property is absolute barefoot luxury!

Beautiful beachfront villa
We had a lovely relaxing family holiday just lazing by and in the sea water pool with occasional forays to enjoy snorkelling amongst the coral pools directly in front of the house or to play in the pools at low tide. Joseph took great care of us and our chef, Raziki, coped admirably with the limited functioning of the cooker, providing delicious meals. Marc was prompt in responding to our various administrative queries. Thank you all.
Thank you very much for your generous review - we are very pleased that you enjoyed your time at Tiwi House and that you found Joseph and Raziki so helpful. We must fix the cooker!
With kind regards,
Vivi and John
A Home From Home!
As the owners, we are probably biased but we spent a very enjoyable few months making sure that important maintenance was progressed and, otherwise, relaxing!
Perfect Beach house to relax in
We (2 adults & 2 children aged 9 & 11 years) arrived at Tiwi House in need of some proper R&R and this is exactly what we got. We were advised to stock up with goods before arrival and visited the supermarket in Diani beach first, thinking that we had got everything that we would need as we had been advised that fish and vegetables would be delivered daily to the house. On arrival we were met by Joseph, the house manager, who instantly put us at ease with his gentle and calm nature. The chef was less impressed with our shopping – be advised you will need to stock up on matches and water amongst other things – and so we decided to cook for ourselves for the duration which was no problem.
The house is incredible. It is beautifully decorated throughout with each of the vast bedrooms having huge en-suites and all with views onto the pool and out to sea. There are a choice of outside King Arthur size round tables and seats and the swimming pool was simply to die for. It was big, warm, deep and kept beautifully clean. There are secure steps leading down onto a white sandy beach and our eldest son really enjoyed taking part in woodworking workshops with the lovely Anton who has a little shop on the beach (1,ooo Kenyan Shillings for 2 hours and the item you make).
Joseph understood immediately that we wanted the minimal amount of assistance and must be part ninja in the way he could move round the house so quietly. You wouldn’t know he had been there until you saw that your mosquito nets and bed had been put down and the fans turned on each night. He was also more than happy to arrange a driver to take us to Diani for lunch as be warned, Tiwi house is off the beaten track but this is also what make it so special and there are 2 Masai warriors who patrolled the gardens at night who make you feel incredibly safe.
The views out to sea, the sound of the waves and the Colobus monkeys calling in the garden’s of Tiwi House will stay with me forever, or until I become a rock star and can live there myself. Highly, highly recommend.
For myself and 2 children safety and privacy were my top requirements in a friendly, relaxed environment offering private pool and views with access to the beach for which Tiwi House provided all and over and above our expectations in cleanliness and comfort. The House Staff in particular Joseph were simply fabulous, quietly in the background if required. Fresh fish and fruits and a fabulous Chef who shopped for us was the icing on the cake. My only request having struggled with the humidity and heat at night would have been the option to pay for air conditioning as the fans were for myself insufficient but that is a preference not a complaint and for many probably not an issue. Many thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this most wonderful holiday home which I would highly recommend to my family, friends and business associates - thank you
Right on the beach
Idyllic view of the beach. Crystal pool and lovely living area. I do think the house staff could do with some training to be a bit more professional and in keeping with other similar beach house staff. And air co ditioning would be great! Thanks for a lovely stay.
Many thanks for your generous review of Tiwi House. Your observation about the professionalism of the staff is a little surprising since guests staying previously have remarked on the good service they have experienced. So that we can improve in this respect, it would be useful to know which aspects let down a high standard please.
The current high cost of running air conditioning plant would make the rental fees unsustainable; perhaps, we should consider these to be an optional extra since we find the steady sea breezes make for reasonable comfort.
With kind regards,
Our family had a great few days at Tiwi House. John was easy to communicate with, Joseph and the rest of the staff made us feel welcome and catered to our comfort. The house was beautiful and spacious, the beach and pool provided lots of fun. We made lasting memories to treasure.
Thank you so much for this generous review. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed yourselves; we gather that you had quite a lot of rain initially so, trust your spirits were not dampened!
With kind regards,
Vivi and John
Special interest holidays:
The beach is on your doorstep under one minute away down stone steps cut into the coral cliff. The sand is beautifully white; the sea recedes over the reef at low tide and swimming is gentle.
Mombasa's Moi International Airport is one and a half hour's drive away across the Likoni ferry. The Ukunda airstrip for local flights and private charters is a 30 minutes drive. Car hire is not essential but recommended.
A ten minute drive takes you to Tiwi village for very local small shops and stalls. Diani, a popular European tourist destination is 12 kilometres (25 minutes) drive away to the south. There you will find banks, restaurants, supermarkets, boutiques, bars, discos, casinos, car rental, hospitals, dentists and any number of roadside stalls.
Shimba Hills Game Park and Lodge is 45 minutes drive up into some slightly cooler and less humid hills. The Shimoni/Kisite Marine Park is one and a half hours away to the south. A huge variety of safaris to all the game parks can be arranged at the Diani Safari agents. Almost all will start by collecting you from your door.
