Having stayed at a number of villa's on holiday letting sites this is easily our favourite. The Villa is high spec and exceptionally well equipped.
It's location is perfect being an easy 10 minute walk into Vamos but with only it's sister villa as a direct neighbour it's very private and peaceful.
The outside areas are lovely and we found it difficult to drag ourselves away from the gorgeous pool area with a variety of seating areas.
The welcome pack of local goodies including a bottle of local wine was a thoughtful touch and gratefully received. The care takers Mary and David visited a couple of times to clean the pool and check everything was ok and we were given their contact numbers in case of any problems.
Vamos is a lovely Greek little village with a handful of tavernas, a couple of bars and a few shops including chemist and a great bakery.
Couldn't fault the villa or location for a peaceful and typically Greek holiday and would highly recommend.
The villa itself was absolutely perfect. It was just as described and more. It was spacious inside and outside, which was great as there were five adults and two young children. Our daughters who are two and three were very entertained by the different toys that were there at the villa. There were shady spots throughout the day, which was brilliant for the girls to sit and draw and keep cool. The views were amazing and the villa and garden were very private. having two small girls that was a great thing as we didn't have to worry to much about them making noise and disturbing others trying to relax. The décor was perfect, very neutral and to a great standard and very clean everywhere. It has everything you would need in the kitchen to make delicious food. the front balconies were so beautiful in the afternoon onwards, so relaxing to sit and watch the sunset.
We did not have a car for the first few days of the holiday so we were relying on what we had in the local shops in the charming town of Vamos. The road to to Vamos square had so many different fruit trees everywhere, lemons, figs, plums, pomegranates, grapes and of course an abundance of olive trees. You could find everything you needed in Vamos, mini markets/bakery/English butchers/phamacy but we did find that we needed to go further afield for a bit more choice. All of the tavernas in Vamos were perfect, very friendly people and some very good food which was better than by the coast and a lot cheaper. A restaurant you must visit is Parasia Rakadiko, easily the best food we had on our trip and for fantastic value. We found ourselves ordering half of the menu just to try as much as we could.
We then found that we had to rent a car for the second half of our trip so we went to Kalives an hired a car. Very pleased we did this because we managed to get to all the beaches, supermarkets and as many local attractions as we could squeezed in. Lake Kournas was a great day out, kids loved it and we hired a peddalo boat and saw turtles!!! Would recommend longer than an hour though as we found it wasn't quite enough.
The caretakers Mary & David were very helpful and useful. They had a great knowledge of the local area and if we had any problems they were always at hand.
Overall we were over the moon with our Cretan Holiday in this property and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
All as described but better than the photos with stunning views of the mountains from the pool and sunsets over the sea from the balconies. Good beaches a short drive away and easy short walk into Vamos where you can find good tavernas, bank mini market etc. Jane was excellent arranging things and got us a great deal on car hire which worked very well. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and lovely outside areas, including fantastic pool. We came home less than a week ago and I want to go back already!
The villa was very well equipped and spotless. The pool was well maintained with plenty of outdoor furniture. The views to the mountains were great and from the front to the sea. We had a couple of problems but these were quickly and efficiently resolved by the caretakers David & Mary. Vamos had some nice tavernas and the mini market stocked most essential items. There was easy access by car to the beach. Only a couple of small complaints regarding the noise of the water pipes after using the shower and toilets and the quality of the pillows on the beds was not the best. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely villa , great location, well equipped ,etc etc.
website pics are accurate with views of mountains. Pool area has several places to sit and outdoor furniture is v good quality. Pool is great good depth for kids or non swimmers.
Villa was clean and nice crockery etc
Only slight annoyance was manager didn't seem to believe the air con wasn't working and took 10days to get engineer to confirm it wasn't.
Local attractions loads vamps is really nice , loads of beaches, restaurants ,gorge walks , history
I'd absolutely recommend this villa, location and crete
The villa was superb; well presented, maintained and furnished.
The process of villa rental from beginning to end was very good.
Tons of home comforts, space and incredible views!
The caretakers were attentive; resolving a (user operational) issue with the cot at very short notice.
The only, very minor, room for improvements I would suggest would be: an update to the directions from Chania airport (they could be clearer) and improving the patchy WiFi access (wired was fine, however).
I would recommend the property to others.
Many thanks to all involved!
