I chose this house Pershe is located in the area where I was born and raised, and 'very close to the house where I live .. still, I find the location very convenient for people like me who does not have a car because there are moltti public transport provision allow you to reach the city center in a short time. It was exactly as the pictures show, but more spacious than it looks - the rooms are all very large with very comfortable furniture. Very clean, neat and attractive. The balconies and many windows let in a lot of light. The kitchen has everything you'd need for a quick breakfast or a full meal. As Americans who drink a lot of coffee, the Nespresso machine took some getting used to, but it was a nice new experience and we enjoyed it.
The front balcony, which faces the street and a large open-space hill, was a little loud with traffic noise, but made you realize you were in Rome. And with the windows and doors closed, it was very quiet inside. We recommend taking the short hike up the hill for a great view of St Peter's dome and most of the city.
It's in a residential neighborhood, so there are no souvenir shops or other tourist-type places nearby, but the Metro and train station is across the street, and there are some excellent restaurants within a few minutes' walk: Sora Lia for great pizza and American-style burgers, La Rustichella for full dinners, a supermarket 5 minutes away, and a vegan grocery store in the next building. And it's only a 10-15 minute walk to the Vatican Museum entrance, and a few more minutes to St Peter's.
As other reviews say, it's a perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of sight-seeing. There were 3 of us, and we had more than enough room; with the third bathroom and the huge sofa, it could easily accommodate more. We'd highly recommend it to a family with older children, or two couples.
Francesca, the manager, was out of town when we arrived, so her mother let us in, showed us around, and even graciously took us to the grocery store and helped us pick up essentials. Francesca arranged our airport transportation and was helpful during our stay.
The best compliment we can pay is that it felt like home. If you're looking for a Roman tourist experience, this isn't the place; but if you want a home away from home, this is it. For about the same price as a hotel, you get so much more.
My wife and I spent a week in the apartment with our daughter and son-in-law. Good-sized bedrooms, each with a bath, gave couples their own space. We shared a large, comfortable dining/sitting room. We prepared most of our meals in the modern, full-equipped kitchen. Our dinner out was a pleasant meal at the nearby La Fornace. Although the apartment is on a busy street there was no problem with noise. A well-stocked Conad supermarket is just down the street. The station for both the metro and the light rail is very close. Francesca was helpful throughout our stay. It was a comfort to know that she was just across the hall. I highly recommend this apartment.
A wonderful experience! My family and I (3 children) loved this property. The owner immediately showed us the property and showed us many things/routes restaurants located within walking distance. The best part of the property is it is across the street from the Metro! We were able to jump on/off to all locations in Rome easily. Coming "home" to this apartment after an entire day of site seeing was very satisfying as the air-conditioned rooms, amble family space and comfortable beds were easy to fall into. We loved our stay here and will recommend it to all family and friends when in Rome.
This is a great place to stay in Rome, next to the Vatican and metro, in a nice neighborhood with shops and restaurants. Very spacious and clean, we were all very comfortable, and would definitely come stay here again.
This apartment was very clean and spacious, with plenty of room for our family (two adults, two teenagers). The description and photos are very accurate. The owners were very helpful with taking care of our reservation, airport transfers from & to the airport, and getting us settled into the apartment upon our arrival. The gated apartment complex is secure, as is the apartment itself. There are air conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room (all independent of each other), and this was extremely helpful during the hot days we were in Rome. Everything we used (refrigerator, microwave, washing machine) was in working order. We liked everything about the apartment.
The location may seem far from the must-see sights of Rome, but with the Villa Aurelia Metro station right across the street, access to all of the sights was easy. Consider purchasing the Roma Pass, which makes using the Metro even easier. The Vatican is within walking distance (10 minutes), but you can also use the Metro (you'll still have to walk from the Ottaviano station to St. Peter's Square). From reading the other reviews, it's true the street noise during the day can be much, but if you're like us and out of the apartment sightseeing most of the day, it really isn't a big deal. At night, it is quiet, and we had no trouble sleeping. Also, the apartment is very close to a grocery store (Conad City) a bakery (Cornetteria), good restaurants, and a great gelato place (Gelataria Millennium).
We highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay there again if our travels take us back to Rome. (Thank you to the owners, especially Lorenzo, for making our stay a pleasant one.)
We stayed at Colle Vaticano and what a wonderful apartment it was! Everything as advertised and more. The apartment is on the less touristy side of the river in the upscale Prati neighborhood with great local restaurants, shops, gelato, etc., but incredibly easy access to all major sights. The apartment is right across the street from the Metro to reach all the sights and the train station, and only a 10 minute walk to the Vatican. Francesca was always available and helpful. The apartment is roomy, secure and comfortable. I would highly recommend Colle Vaticano!
