Penderff is a beautiful16c century Manoir set in its own land with wonderful views. It has been our family home for 12 years and we have decided to invite guests to enjoy it for the summer months. It was fully renovated a few years ago and retains all the charm of a very old house, we even have some arrow slit windows and the stone walls are over 3' thick, with vaulted ceilings in all the bedrooms, but it contains all the modern fittings and comforts that you would expect in a home. Penderff is set in a elevated position commanding views on two sides of the forest and river valley, with the village nestled in the middle. We have two restaurants within a 15 min walk along the river. The solar panel heated pool is totally private and commands lovely views. It's size is 7mx5mx1.50m. There is raised decking with room enough for two sunbeds. On the south facing terrace you will find comfy rattan furniture beside the hot tub which has lights for evening use (new for 2018) What better way to end the day than a chilled bottle of wine and a soak in the hot tub! On the second terrace is a wooden table to seat eight beside the stone bbq. We have 25 hectares of our own land waiting to be explored, a small lake with rowing boat you are welcome to use, the river and even a ruined mill. When walking, the only sounds to be heard is the river winding its way or the birds. Our land adjoins a large forest with many tracks and trails which are available for walking. There are many places for picnics and relaxing, or painting and sketching. Penderff is tranquil, peaceful and a truly magical place. Jeremy and Judith will ensure a warm welcome and strive to help with any suggestions or advice.

About judith Bramham-law
We are in our late 50's with an informal and relaxed attitude to life. We don't stand on ceremony here, life is too short! We have one adult son who lives in England. We both originate from Buckinghamshire where we lived in the same village for 21 years. I was working and studying for a diploma in counciling whilst Jeremy was working in the prison service in a high security prison and after 8 years really felt like he had had enough of the stressful work involved, we moved to Penderff after falling in love with it after seeing it whilst holidaying in the area. We have three pet dogs who are all friendly,(they are kept in our summer abode of the mobile home!) one horse and pony, one cat, some chickens and canaires. We love life in the county and are happy to rent out our beautiful home. We are always aware that this is a precious holiday that guests have looked forward too, so maintain a discrete presence but are on hand if needed! We stay down in the woods in a mobile home. We want our guests to feel totally at home here and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. We love what we do here and I think that it is reflected on our many repeat bookings, we now have so many more friends who come back to us again and again.
judith Bramham-law purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2006
Why judith Bramham-law chose Lignol
Why the owner chose a home in this location. We fell in love with Penderff as it is peaceful, beautiful and tranquil, the views are breathtaking, and the fact that we don't have to move off our own land to enjoy fabulous walks whilst not meeting a soul. The Manoir itself is friendly and welcoming and you feel very relaxed. Locally there are many forests, walks, rivers and streams as well as history in its adjacent towns. There is so much to see and do and we are central for most places in Brittany. We are within 40 mins of the south coast beaches which means that you are not surrounded by crowds of holiday makers and busy traffic, but close enough to enjoy a seaside holiday. The countryside is diverse, its not flat and arable but woods, hills and valleys and the Nantes Brest canal is also close by. We are so easy to get to, 2hrs from St Malo ferry port. We purchased Penderff after only seeing it once, we were that sure.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
We are within easy reach of towns and shops but whilst at Penderff not a car can be heard. We have 100 acres of our own land for walking around, a little fishing lake with rowing boat, ruins and woods to explore and the river to walk along. The views from the Manoir are second to none and I will never get tired of looking out of the window.

Lovely space in the heart of Brittany
Judith and Jeremy’s home is a wonderful base for exploring this stunning part of the world: loads of room to roam within the house and beyond. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfy and the hosts have a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude: including being very patient with our 4 year old daughter and all her questions and stories! Thanks to their lovely home, their friendly manner, and their recommendations for activities, Judith and Jeremy made our holiday very relaxing and enjoyable.
We’d recommend for anyone: although not during the week next year when we’ll be coming back!
Thank you so much for your kind review. We both thoroughly enjoyed having you to stay and getting to know you. We are both so happy that you loved being here so much that you are returning next year! There are so many places to visit and so much to do in Brittany, we are never lost for places to recommend to our guests.
Thank you again and see you next year.

Superbly situated property with a lovely relaxing atmosphere
We all had a great stay and enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Great walks around the woods and easy access to the village and its bakery were also appreciated. Thanks to our hosts Judith and Jeremy who helped make our stay so excellent.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and found it relaxing, that is what we are all about!
It was a pleasure having you to stay and hopefully we will see you again in the future.
Lovely property in rural setting
Characterful, spacious, clean property – the best we have stayed at. We were a three generation holiday and the property suited everyone. Jeremy and Judith were welcoming owners and it really was a relaxing week. Beautiful countryside with stunning views, lovely boulangerie and plenty to do for days out. Everyone enjoyed the boating lake.
Perfect holiday home in Brittany
We've just come back from a week in this beautiful property, and felt we had to leave a review as we enjoyed ourselves so much.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the setting of Penderff is just stunning. A massive garden for the kids (and aging Father with his creaky knees) to play around in, woodlands a very short walk away for the kids (and aging Father with his creaky elbows and wrists) to create dens in, and wonderful views to the nearby village of Lignol and surrounding countryside (nothing creaky to note here). Usually when we go on holiday
we use the rental as a base and spend more days out than we do at the property. At Penderff, it was the other way around! With so much space and so many facilities on offer, we found ourselves relaxing at the house and enjoying it all the more for it.
Our boys especially loved the pool, and they've all increased in confidence in the water simply through how much we used it, as it really was the perfect way to cool off after a warm day out, or to just extend the chilling out together. The hot tub was another firm favourite, with our youngest finally joining us in the bubbling warm waters - testament to how relaxed and confident he felt in the environment.
Judith and Jeremy couldn't have been better hosts, with suggestions on where to go, and remaining accessible but not intrusive. Their dogs were only ever out with Judith or Jeremy, and approached our boys on invitation only, and were really gentle though eager to be friendly.
The house itself deserves a write-up of its own, as it was so spacious, and had everything we could have wanted. As we had the master bedroom, we woke up with the cool morning air coming through the windows carrying with it the birdsong that is everpresent around the property. Sounds somewhat poetic, but it's also true.
We have no problems at all giving Penderff the highest rating possible, and would happily give it 6.0 out of 5.0 if HomeAway allowed it!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you to stay and Jeremy and I are so happy that you loved Penderff so much. The Manoir is actually our own family home for ten months of the year, so a huge amount of time and love has been spent on it over the past twelve years and it is so rewarding to us that it is all worth while when you are given comments from your guests like you have given us! We agree too, Penderff is a very special place and also it is unique that it has so much land of it’s own to explore and have fun in, then at the end of the day, relax in the hot tub.
Thank you again for your wonderful comments, it means everything to us and we would love to welcome you back.

Peaceful, stunning location
We had a most enjoyable week at the Manor House. We couldn't have asked for more! The location is stunning, the house surrounded by beautiful meadows and forest, yet not too remote that you couldn't reach the lovely beaches of Brittany within 40 minutes drive. The weather was perfect for us and the kids enjoyed splashing about in the pool. Judith and Jeremy are warm and friendly hosts who give you the space and privacy you need whilst remaining nearby should you need anything! The house is beautifully decorated and the views from the outdoor seating amazing! We would love to return in the future.
Thank you so much for your kind review, we loved having you all here and so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. As you so rightly say, we are completely surrounded by our own water meadows which in the summer are alive with butterflies and dragonflies but only a short walk along the river into the village. We will never tire of our stunning views! It was lovely to hear the children having fun in the pool, so glad that they enjoyed it. You would all be very welcome if you decide to return to Brittany.
Beautiful, delightful and relaxing
We are delighted to have had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home. The property itself is really special and is warm and inviting with everything you would need to enjoy a relaxing stay. The garden and grounds seem to go on forever and the kids were in the pool every day, whatever the weather! Judith and Jeremy were so welcoming, kind and helpful. We would highly recommend a stay at this very special place.
Thank you for your kind review. It was lovely to meet you all and a pleasure to have you here . We agree with you, we feel that it is a very special place too and for ten months of the year it is our family home and I can't ever imagine finding anywhere else to live that is so perfect as this. Jeremy and I really hope that we will welcome you back in the future.

In Lignol there is a very good bakery, their croissants are the best that I have ever eaten! We also have two good restaurants and a bar. In the next village of Kernescleden there is a very good village shop selling all manner of things including wine, it is a 4 min drive from the gite. In Guemene a 6 mins drive there are several restaurants and bars. There are 2 banks, 2 supermarkets, two garages. Here you will also find the doctor and dentist if needed. If its clothes shopping you are interested in, Lorient is the place which also has a world class marina and restaurants. A 25 mins drive away you will find the Lac de Guerledan, its very beautiful and 7.5 miles long. Dotted around its shores are little hamlets, especially Anse de Sordan and Beau Rivarge, both of which have beaches which are safe for swimming, canoes and pedalos for hire and restaurants. There are also motor boat trips around the lake. Also in the same area is the lovely abbey of Bon Repos. A 12C Cisercain abbey that is being restored and is well worth a visit. In August every year they host an evening of story telling and lights which is always a sell out. On Sundays there is a colourful market beside the abbey and the Nantes/Brest canal. A little further afield 50 mins are the famous standing stones at Carnac, which is at the gateway to the Golf de Morbihan and its hundreds of islands, again one can visit by boat. We give lots of helpful tips and advice in our welcome pack.
Children's riding lessons can be arranged at a fully credited stables five minutes away by car from Penderff. Past guest's fully recommend this.
We are an animal loving family with three pet dogs, two cats and some hens. The dogs are kept in the owner's enclosed garden for those guests who are not dog lovers!
