About Wendy Wilson
My husband and I fell in love with Worth Matravers on our very first visit and were delighted to move to the village in 1985. We purchased the original plot in 1996 and by 2002 had finished the new property to our own design that we love to share with families and friends coming to stay and spend time together .
Why Wendy Wilson chose Worth Matravers
We've known and loved the area since the 1970's and the village has that special atmosphere of sea, coast and countryside unique to the Purbecks, convenient to everywhere but with a unique and beautiful setting all it's own. We love the panoramic views from the house and the way that you can step out the front door into the most beautiful landscape, with the Jurassic Coast path at your feet, pop to the village pub, stroll to the traditional village green and duck pond but be on the beach with bucket, spade and deck chairs within a few minute's drive.

Wonderful stay in Purbeck
We stayed with our three married children and their partners for four nights in November 2019 and we were all very impressed by the property. The front room is very large yet still inviting and warm. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked a number of meals there and had everything we needed, including sharp knives! The front bedroom has amazing views across the fields to the sea, and the other bedrooms had really good beds. One of the bedrooms is a little small for a couple but we managed perfectly well. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely walks from the property down to the sea and along the coast path. The arrival arrangements provided by Wendy were clear and she contacted us soon after our arrival to ensure everything was OK. The little extras (milk, bread, biscuits etc) provided for our stay were also very welcome. We really enjoyed our time at Compass Cottage and we would certainly like to return to there in the future.
I’m delighted you had such an enjoyable time and that the house and its beautiful setting had everything you needed for a happy and comfortable family stay. Thank you for your booking, you were wonderful guests and I look forward to welcoming you again anytime.
Great get away for birthday with friends
Great stay for 8 adults for a birthday weekend. House was large and great for cooking and eating. Great location next to the square and compass, corfe castle and on the Jurassic coast.
I'm glad the house was ideal for a great birthday weekend, you were fantastic guests, thank you.
Had a lovely time here. Property and scenery superb. A little drive away from some of the attractions for the children in the area but peaceful and lovely walking area for us adults.
Great for families
We had a lovely week at Compass Cottage. The house was perfect for a family get together with a really big living room. Well stocked with all we needed both in the kitchen and toys and games for the children. Worth Matravers is great. Close to lots of attractions as well as beautiful walks. The pub is definitely worth a visit! Wendy's communications were very good, clear and helpful. Would recommend a stay here!
Thank you so much for your glowing review, I’m delighted you enjoyed a wonderful week’s holiday and that the house was perfect for you. Thank you for being such great guests!
Wonderful stay at Compass Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at Compass Cottage. It was lovely warm, clean, cosy cottage. The view from the cottage is stunning. There were 8 of us & so much room for us all. We enjoyed dinner in the tea rooms & a drink in the pub. So many walks from the cottage as well. Great place to stay, just a shame our trip was only a few days. We would all love to return one day. Thank you Wendy for all the information provided. All very helpful.
I’m so glad you had a fantastic stay, you were great guests and I’d be delighted to welcome you back again.
Lovely for groups
Lovely property in a super position that catered for a group of 6 old friends. Although 2 of us shared a room we all had our own beds; we are beyond climbing into bunks and most properties catering for 6 involve sharing beds or bunks!
The kitchen was very well set up for us to cook in the evening which we did every night, no drinking and driving for us!
The only minor quibble was that the 2 showers were not really functioning at the same time, but we got around that!
I would recommend this residence highly.
Many thanks to Wendy for being a helpful host.
So glad to hear you had a comfortable and happy reunion with 5 bedrooms to spread out in, you were lovely guests, thank you!
