Open plan interior includes one large bedroom area with a king size bed. By arrangement, an additional bed can be added to main living space, for non couples or, to accommodate a third person.

Generously sized shower room with extra large, solid, tiled, walk-in shower. Flat round full overhead shower and separate hand held directional shower head and, opaque glass door. Includes WC, basin, mirror, window, heated towel rail and tiled floor.

Dining table and chairs. New free standing gas stove, electric fridge with freezer box. Electric kettle and toaster. Cafetiere, teapot and general cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils. New kitchen units and worktops. S/Steel sink and mixer tap.

Open plan large lounge area with three piece suite, coffee table, rugs, tiled floors, main and side lights, curtains at all windows, wood burner fire with first basket chopped wood included, TV/DVD/CD player. Glass front door to terrace garden.

Single storey with light, airy, huge open plan interior and adjacent off road parking. Central location for touring Western Brittany. The track outside the Gites leads you down through the woods to the river Douffine. Newly decorated and furnished in a relaxed, fresh, country style. English speaking owners live on site in main farmhouse. Suitable for all year round use with full electric heating included and wood-burner fire, ideal for chilly evenings and winter breaks. All linen provided. Initial basic supplies of tea/coffee, milk, fresh bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper, French cheese and bottle of wine are all included and will be waiting in your gite for your arrival. Cleaning materials provided. First basket of chopped wood included. Separate secure storage is available for bikes, surf boards, fishing tackle and roof racks etc. Glass front door opens on to small, secluded terrace garden with views and walks to river, woods and surrounding countryside.

About The Owner

Following unexpected redundancy; too young for retirement and wanting new challenges, we agreed a new home in Brittany could offer the space and more relaxed country lifestyle we had both enjoyed before the family responsibilities and demanding professions!

We both have links with farming and with some renovating experience, we sold our Hampshire home and moved in to our Breton property ‘Penlan Huella’ Nov 2009 - shortly followed by the animals. We hope to bring new life back to the farm and its 7.5 acres of surrounding fields and woodland.We've converted two traditional stone farm buildings in to holiday Gites.

With our interests in photography, wildlife, farming, animals, gardening and enjoying time and space with family and friends, our new lifestyle is meeting all our objectives.

Why The Owner chose Lopérec

We wanted rural but not too isolated. Somewhere our family and friends could visit easily without too much travelling or expense and somewhere to keep us busy but nothing over ambitious. We had a list of clear objectives and stuck to it!

Its a very rural spot, but local active villages are only a few miles away. The general area has excellent and quiet road networks making driving easy, direct and pleasurable. Roscoff ferry port is less than one hour’s drive and Brest airport is only half an hour’s drive. Access from the UK can be very quick and easy.

It may be rural, but we have excellent modern communication systems. Our broadband, UK television and telephone connections are better than we experienced in Hampshire!

What makes this apartment unique

The gites have been designed for couples to relax in a generously spacious environment within a beautiful country location. Far reaching views from the south west facing Gites can be enjoyed through your windows, doors and outdoor areas. Wooded, riverside or open country walks on road or off-road cycling all possible from the doorstep. Within a few minutes’ drive from the Gites, you can be enjoying the beautiful Breton countryside, the beaches, fishing and harbor towns or inland villages. There is something of everything.

Richard and Claire are wonderful hosts, and we arrived to a welcome hamper of cheese, bread,fruit, milk, tea, coffee and olive oil. The Gites are decorated in simple, chic style, with comfortable beds, and fabulous showers, and all necessary items such as cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils are provided. The weather was lovely during our stay, and we took the opportunity to walk down to the river through the forest. Next time, we plan a picnic there! Nearby beaches are beautiful, and quiet, even on a late august weekend. We explored several villages nearby, and enjoyed moules at a quayside restaurant. Penlan Gites is a fabulous place to stay, to enjoy solitude in beautiful surroundings, and yet have beaches and towns within easy reach. Chantal Bell.

Basic initial food and drink provisions and, cleaning equipment and products are supplied. Free WiFi is included. Unusually spacious and comfortable self catering accommodation for couples with space for third adult or non couples by arrangement. Perfect location for local fishing interests, walking, cycling and sightseeing. Excellent shopping and restaurants within easy drive. Outside: Outside each front door is a small, gravelled and grass garden area. South west facing and secluded, next to cider apple orchards on the side of the river Douffine valley. Sturdy wooden table and seating is provided, with a sun parasol. Deckchairs and barbecue may also be available.

Great Gite Great Location

This is a well-presented gite with all requirements catered for. Unfortunately, the weather was not wonderful but we could not have wanted for better accommodation. Richard was very accommodating when we needed to add a third bed at short notice. The property is big enough to handle this without a problem

Idyllic, fully equipped retreat

Had a lovely break in rural France. Everything to hand in this lovely gite and it's location makes visiting nearby attractions so easy. Excellent hosts, Richard and Claire were on hand with tips and recommendations. If you fancy an away from it all break, you will not find fault with this little gem.

Brilliant! it does what it says on the tin an more

Being our first visit to a gite in Brittany my partner an I had no idea what to expect.

We were not disappointed indeed we were delighted with everything we found inside and outside of the Gite. Firstly it although it was dark when we arrived it was clear that the building was beautifully rustic from the outside but inside was much larger than the literature we had viewed. Very clean and tastefully decorated, equipped to a perfectly acceptable standard. Very comfortable bed and furniture, an extremely efficient heating system including a log burner means summer or winter this would be a cosy stay.

Set in a peaceful rural setting surrounded by woods and orchard which comes with the full variety of wildlife which is found in such settings. So tranquillity is the theme. If you are looking for hustle and bustle of night life this is not the place to be as all you will hear is the occasional call of an owl or other birds.

However as the roads within the National park, in which the Gite sits, are so good getting to the Towns and magnificent beaches take no time at all.

The hosts Richard and Clare were so helpful from the second we arrived to the time we left giving advice and assistance with pleasure when asked for but leaving you alone to enjoy your peace and quiet.

Would I recommend this venue to others? well out of 10 I would say a big 10! Oh yes we have already booked to return

Brittany’s many beautiful local sandy beaches and the contrasting northern Brittany rocky coastal areas are all within easy driving distance. e.g. The stunning, long, golden sandy beach at Pentrez is within half an hour’s drive with easy, free parking adjacent to the beach. The well known rocky lighthouse point at ‘Pointe du Raz’ is less than one hour with opportunity to park and walk to the lighthouse, the visitor centre and view the rocky sea off the famous point. Many coastal walks.

Journey to/from Brest airport may be arranged in advance and collection and delivery to agreed points may be arranged (use of car is recommended for this accommodation). Please ask owners. Property is perfect for keen walkers and cyclists or those who wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of the location. Car is recommended for further sightseeing or main shopping/restaurants.

Penlan is ideally situated for touring historical towns, cycling, walking, fishing and relaxing on the beach.

Pont de Buis has a supermarket, banks, pharmacie, boulangerie and patisseries for all your self catering needs. There is also a small shop in the village of Loperec.

There are many restaurants within easy driving distance as well as one in Loperec which can be walked for a lunchtime meal.
