Nerja lies at the foot of the mountains at the eastern end of the Costa del Sol, just 45 minutes from Malaga airport, along the new main highway. Nerja’s centre piece is the Balcon de Europa, a palm promenade with superb views of the coastline. Within the town itself, there is a handful of small sandy coves and beaches, all within walking distance; Torrecilla Beach is only 5 min walk from the flat. The town centre is 5 minutes walk away. Many restaurants, bars, cafes, internet cafes and shops within walking distance. Communal pool end June to end September.

I retired from working in the voluntary sector. And I was widowed in 2009. My late husband and I bought the flat in 2002 because we loved Andalucia, and the chance to escape to sunny warm weather.

My late husband and I bought the flat in 2002 because we loved Andalucia, and the chance to escape to sunny warm weather, even for long weekends. We chose Nerja because of its beautiful location, the lack of high rise buildings, and it's a lively town, but small enough as a contrast to London. The cafes located near the Balcon have breathtaking views from the cliffs over the coves and sea. Great concerts occur at the Cultural Centre, as well as various open air activities in the Balcon de Europa as well as near the flat. The various festivals are also very entertaining. There is easy access from Malaga airport, whether by hired car, or by buses (including a shuttlebus from April to September). As a single person I can still easily reach Nerja without a car, and don't need a car in Nerja. A local bus can take you across town, including to the market or to a gym.

A few minutes walk to the nearest beach is a big bonus, and having a swimming pool when it is hot is another one.

Just spent 10 days in this lovely apartment in Nerja. The entire experience was excellent, the keys were sent in the post two months in advance. The apartment itself was excellent, it was spotlessly clean on arrival as well as being brilliantly equipped with all essentials. The apartment was very centrally located walking distance to the all local amenities and very close to the beach. I would reccomend this apartment to anybody wishing to visit Nerja
Mi pareja y yo hemos pasado diez días en este apartamento, tiene de todo para pasar unos días agradables, la relación con la propietaria fué buena,, enseguida que nos envío los detalles y pagamos nos envío las llaves; a nuestra llegada el apartamento estaba limpio y ordenado, lo recomendaría a todas aquellas personas que quieran conocer Nerja, está muy bien ubicado por la distancia de sus playas como por el centro del pueblo.

Die Unterkunft war besser als beschrieben. Genug Platz für einen schönen Urlaub. Die Wohnung ist mit allem, was man benötigt ausgestattet. Es war auch super, dass wir den Pool benutzen durften. Bei der Hitze, war das eine willkommene Erfrischung. Der nächste Strand "Torrecilla" ist keine fünf Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Der Strand ist klein und war voll, aber gut gepflegt. Die Kommunikation mit der Gastgeberin ist zwar nicht schnell aber irgendwann hat man eine Antwort erhalten. Und alles, was sie gesagt hat, hat auch gestimmt. Da muss man nur etwas Geduld bringen. Die Bilder im Inserat sind nicht viele und nicht von guter Qualität, was uns etwas skeptisch gemacht hatte, ohne Grund, denn, wie schon erwähnt, war die Wohnung besser ausgestattet und Größer als im Inserat. Mehr kann man für den Urlaub nicht erwarten. Wir können die Wohnung nur weiter empfehlen. Und wir kommen wieder!
A five-minute walk will get you to the nearest beach, Torrecilla. However, there are five main beaches in Nerja, all within walking distance, some in more secluded coves than others. You can rent a lounge-bed for the day on most beaches. There are people offering very good massages on some beaches. Go to Burriana beach for a paella lunch!
Malaga airport is the nearest - about 45 minutes by car. Hire car, if booked from the UK, can be as cheap as £13 per day. There is also a bus from the airport to Malaga city, where you get another bus to Nerja. Once in Nerja, you do not need a car, because you can easily walk to various places of interest. Coach travel from Nerja to towns and cities in Andalucia is also well organized and cheap, eg you can easily do a day trip to Granada or Malaga.
The beautiful scenic town of Frigiliana, with cobbled streets and white washed houses, is 5km inland. The scenic caves of Nerja are 10 minutes drive. Malaga is 45 minutes drive, Granada is one hour, skiing in the Sierra Nevada is about 90 minutes away, the towns in the Alpujarras like Lanjaron can be reached in 45 minutes. From Malaga you can also get a ferry to Melilla (in North Africa). From Algeciras you can get a one-hour ferry to Ceuta or to Tangiers, Morocco.
Nerja town centre is full of restaurants, cafes, bars, tapas bars, fish restaurants. There are supermarkets and banks near the flat. Nerja has a market on Sundays. There are also many boutiques, and an English language secondhand bookshop, which also has English language magazines and newspapers informing you of ongoing activities. The Cultural Centre often has concerts/performances.
Booking Notes: To book the apartment a non-refundable deposit of 25% is required. The balance should be paid 6 weeks before your holiday. Please contact the owner for booking details. The flat is managed by someone in Nerja so you can relax in the knowledge that someone is nearby should you need assistance. Changeover Day: Arrival is 4pm and departure 10am (but it may be possible to negotiate these times). Notes on prices: Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.
