We are a family with 2 children who love the pleasure of having a holiday home and would like to share that pleasure with other families who prefer the relaxed comfort of a luxury villa to a hotel holiday. We rent our villas in both South of France and Barbados. Both villas are luxurious but practical for families like ours who appreciate comfort and the good things in life, and who have well behaved children.
Owner purchased this Villa in 2002
Why Owner chose Porters
Barbados is a wonderful island of fabulous beaches, great weather, sport, fine dining, beautiful beaches and its unique Bajan culture. This explains why it enjoys its prestige status as perhaps the best of the Carribean islands and is why we have so many satisfied visitors who return to Barbados again and again.
What makes this Villa unique
Bower Fold is fabulously located just a few minutes drive north of Holetown, with all its wonderful restaurants, shops and facilities) and across the road from the magnificent West Coast beach, near fun JuJus beach bar, the fabulous Lone Star restaurant, the lovely Royal Pavilion hotel and the colony of enormous one metre large turtles that swim tamely up to you and want to play...... no need to do an expensive tour - they are right there! The villa is right on the main bus route and its location is so perfect that hiring a car is not essential. Our beautiful location in front of the pool makes it a perfect family holiday destination.
Pool / Spa
this was our third trip to barbados and our first stay at bowers fold. we found the villa clean and comfortable and a great location. the pool was lovely and on the doorstep , although a shared pool we hardly saw anyone else there. the ladies in barbados were attentive but not intrusive. very handy to have a washing machine and dryer in the villa. a few minutes to walk to a lovely beach with a great beach bar.recommend juju's beach bar.simple tasty food and a good rum punch. another short walk to the lone star restaurant- lovely for cocktails and good food though quite a long wait. we hired a car which was great for exploring the island. fully recommend oistins friday night fish fry . the animal flower cave in the north of the island was spectacular for views and a very nice clifftop restaurant for lunch. st nicholas abbey rum plantation was also very good and worth a visit.the reggae buses run regularly to holetown and we particularly enjoyed the beach house restaurant and the drift cocktail bar.2dollars per person to go any distance on the bus. they are great, an experience for everyone.
all in all a great holiday with an excellent location. we would definitely return to this villa.
A truly memorable trip to the Caribbean.
We have just returned from our first trip to the Caribbean. We found the villa to be excellent and just as described in the guides.
The pool is situated right outside the villa door, and the wifi provided also reaches this far. (Very important for my 2 teenage daughters)
There is a private pedestrian entry which takes you right out onto the road by the bus stops. The local reggae busses that seem to arrive every 2 minutes are definitely worth a ride. For just $2.00 you can ride virtually all the way up the exclusive west coast.
I would recommend this villa and the close by Sunti beach bar. If I ever venture back to this part of the world, this is the villa I will use. I also need to make a special mention to Debbie the owner who is brilliant at providing all the information you need about the villa, the area, car hire etc and is extremely conscientious about making your holiday experience a memorable one.
Thanks so much for the review. We have been renting Bower Fold out for nearly 15 years now and we do pride ourselves on giving the kind of excellent customer service that helps our clients have a lovely vacation. I do suspect that this, combined with our superb mid-West Coast location, is the reason that we have so many repeat visitors.
Stephen is right about the buses - car hire is great for touring the north and east coast or the middle of the island, but it is only necessary for a few days when the West Coast bus service is so good - we rarely bother with car hire at all and have a good driver that we recommend for the odd longer trip.
I'm so pleased that Stephen and his family had a great time :-)
We have recently returned from this beautiful villa on the west coast where we spent two weeks with our children. The villa is clean well equipped and in a terrific location a short walk from in our opinion the best beach on the island where we were able to swim with turtles most days and spend long leisurely lunches at the Lonestar and JuJus whilst watching the children play on the beach. It is extremely well placed on a bus route and with Holetown and Speightstown a short journey away where you can enjoy beautiful shops and many good restaurants. The villa is very well looked after by a very special lady called Veronica and the grounds are also well attended as is the pool. We hope to return again in the future.
Had a really fantastic holiday, helped by staying at Bower Fold. Owner very contactable. Villa great. So tranquil, never many people around the pool, if any at all. So easy to travel from the villa either on foot or the mad buses!!!!! Restaurants within easy reach. Only had a car for the last week and that was fine. This was our sixth visit to Barbados and the best. Just waiting ro rebook for next year.
So glad you had a wonderful time Daphne. Thank you for highlighting to readers of this review our truly fantastic West Coast location. It is so attractive and convenient! And as you say, our pool and garden area is very private, calm and relaxing.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
Prompt, friendly replies to our enquiries from first contact. We were collected from the airport as arranged, and met by Sandra at the complex. She proved to be a gem throughout our stay, as did Veronica, who kept the villa spotless and provided us with some useful tips while we were there.
We didn't hire a car, but used the buses a lot from outside the Fairmont - they are cheap and frequent, but less often at night. The villa is a really good base to stay at, and had all the facilities advertised. The complex is gated so you feel quite safe, in fairness we never felt unsafe anywhere on the island. We had the pool to ourselves for most of our stay, and found the complex quiet and relaxing.
The beach is just across the road & you can hire sunbeds & parasols. It's a lovely place to sit with a cold drink and watch the sunset. We ate out at several local restaurants in the evenings, and found the general standard to be good.
We would certainly consider staying here again if we find ourselves returning to Barbados in the future.
We were the only residents in the complex and so had exclusive use of the pool, which was great. The apartment was well stocked with everything we needed and the size was great for the 4 of us plus baby.
We had an A/C maintenance issue, which was sorted out within 1 hour and assistance was never more than a phone call away.
The place was cleaned well twice each week and the pool was cleaned at least 3 times per week.
2 minute walk to the bus stop outside Fairmont hotel, which was really handy. Alternatively a 6 minute walk to 'Lone Star' restaurant, which is fantastic and not too pricey.
Kerryann did some babysitting for us, she was very good and my kids loved her!
A couple of the brochures advertising services are out of date (2011) but help is just a phone call away.
In summary, Would stay here again, good facilities, close to services, just far enough out of Holetown to feel relaxed!
Special interest holidays:
Fabulous watersports are available at the beach across the road including PADI diving courses. The Barbados Tourism Authority often runs free of charge kids sports camps in tennis, cricket and football during the school holidays. Our son did the cricket camp and LOVED it!
The beautiful west Coast of Barbados is entirely made up of marvelous public beaches for you to choose from the nearest just 3 minutes walk near the Royal Pavillion hotel. Numerous water-sports readily available and very good snorkelling with the turtles. Gibbs and Mullins beaches also nearby.
Bridgetown International airport 45 minutes by car/taxi. Car hire not essential as local bus service cheap and regular, and taxis readily available, but car hire is desirable/recommended for at least part of hte stay if you wish to tour the island.
There are several high standard local hotels within walking distance, such as Royal Pavilion and Glitter Bay immediately opposite Porters Court, offering fine dining and other facilities (some things at a charge). Numerous other restaurants are a short walk, drive or taxi ride away. The nearest town is Holetown, about a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus/taxi ride or drive to the south of Porters Court. Speightstown is a short drive/bus ride to the north.
The nearest town is Holetown, about 20 minutes walk or a 5 minute bus/taxi ride or drive south of Porters Court. It includes a good shopping centre with large supermarket, pharmacist and internet café plus the Chattel Village, a pretty area for craft, souvenirs and local products. It also has numerous bars and restaurants.
