Clean, cosy ,perfect property for a break away
7 day stay 15th-21st sept 18, would return in the future- cottage was lovely and clean, the garden was impressive and surrounding villages and local people lovely and very welcoming. Thanks to hosts frank and gill.
Thank you so much for your very nice comments about the cottage and West Witton. We look forward to your return.
A character cottage set in beautiful countryside.
The cottage was beautifully furnished, although space was at a premium. We loved visiting local waterfalls and walked for miles around Malham Cove! A lovely base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.
Thank you for your kind comments. The cottage is small, but perfectly formed! and we believe contains everything you need for a great holiday.
Very lovely and charming place to stay with very welcoming and helpful hosts: recommended++
The accommodation is a charming cottage ( a converted stable) set in the hosts’ delightful garden, and perfectly situated for walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside. All this was then even further upgraded by our hosts who were warmly welcoming and helpful throughout. Other reviewers have detailed some of the thoughtful touches , but Gill and Frank really have mastered the art of being very helpful and available if required , but also of not appearing to be visible or around the rest of the time! We felt very relaxed throughout our time there.
We will be recommending Frank and Gills cottage to friends and family!
We loved the Dales and plan to return to explore more and our first choice for a place to stay would be here...
Thank you both!
Thank you for such a flattering review, it's much appreciated as an indication of how we like to welcome our guests in the cottage. I look forward to welcoming you back.
Loved this property. It had everything that you could need for any length of stay. Bedroom was lovely and cool enhancing sleep in the middle of summer. Garden absolutetly beautiful and very private. Lovely welcome with home baking and very friendly and helpful.
Thanks for the lovely comments. The cottage is very peaceful and helps guests to relax and unwind and we're pleased you had a good break.
Fabulous cottage setting
We cannot say enough about the hospitality of our hosts. They gave us a welcome cream tea and even supplied us makings for a cup of tea because it was a Sunday and the village shop was closed. The cottage is superb, set in a beautiful garden and with all the comforts inside. We love this part of Yorkshire with all the winding roads and picturesque villages. Frank and Gill were a wealth of knowledge about local eating spots and beautiful walks. Can't think of a better place to spend a few quiet days and Frank and Gill made us so welcome.
We do try to make our guests' stay as good as possible, so it's great to receive such positive comments.
Getting away from it all!
I stayed in a beautifully converted and appointed building with everything you could need for a home from home. Gill and Frank were welcoming and informative about the neighbourhood, I followed some of his personalised walks with great enjoyment. The Dales are on the doorstep and good food is nearby.
Thank you so much for your really pleasing comments about the area, the cottage and how we attempt to make our guests feel at home and have a great stay.

As an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Dales offer all kinds of outdoor recreation and is a wonderful walking, cycling, caving and horse riding area. There are maps and pocket walk guides in the cottage. Also there is a rich and vibrant cultural heritage with museums, galleries, castles, fine gardens, and festivals ,including the Burning of Old Bartle in the village during the summer feast weekend.
The Dales is a great place for food and real ales and you have all you could possible desire very close to the cottage. The village has a good country pub, the Fox and Hounds(which is NW Yorkshire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2013) serving a range of local real ales and home cooked food, and an ancient coaching inn, the Wensleydale Heifer, with a renowned restaurant, both with real fires in the winter. The village shop bakes the most wonderful bread and pastries, and the nearby market town of Leyburn has an excellent butcher selling dales lamb and beef, game, and free range chickens and eggs. At the Friday market, there is a magnificent range of fish and seafood from Carricks, and local vegetables and cheeses. And Leyburn has a wonderful wine and spirit shop which is housed with the good butcher in the local grocery shop, Campbell's.
