About Charlotte Ward
I live in Kent but have been travelling down to Devon for the last 30 years to visit family. I have owned Plumb Corner for over 15 years and often visit for time out! It's a very restful house. Although I'm not on the spot, Plumb Corner has it's own caretaker who lives 5 minutes away and is available to help with any queries or problems.
Charlotte Ward purchased this House in 1993
Why Charlotte Ward chose Kingsteignton
Plumb Corner is just off the A381, on top of a hill and a short walk down the hill brings you to the village of Kingsteignton. It's a busy, pretty village with a lovely church, 3 pubs, a small Tesco and garage. The Dartmoors - with all they have to offer, the seaside town of Teignmouth and the fishing village of Shaldon are all within 20 minutes drive. Slightly further afield are Torquay, Paignton and the historic towns of Plymouth and Exeter.
What makes this House unique
2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom are on the ground floor. There is a spacious enclosed garden with fruit trees. Large kitchen/diner so all the family can eat together. Bus services run from Plumb Corner to Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton and Exeter.

Perfect! Charming and relaxing, ideally located.
The property is ideally located as a base for "day-tripping" around the south Devon coast. On arrival, our first impression was one of delight and as we explored the house, we were amazed at how everything was catered for...There was absolutely nothing that wasn't provided. Mrs Ward was a pleasure to deal with and went out of her way to ensure that our stay was a memorable one. In the entrance hall, there is a plethora of information for day trips and activities etc. - we would DEFINATELY recommend doing the Round Robin bus, boat and train day. Plumb Corner is a traditionally styled dormer bungalow and it is one of the most family friendly holiday homes we have seen. The bathrooms were clean and fresh and the bedrooms were roomy with plenty of storage. The dormer bedroom is a little small, but has it's own bathroom and my teenage daughter loved having her "bedsit" upstairs away from everyone. In short, Plumb Corner and Mrs Ward made our week in Devon memorably pleasant and we would all absolutely recommend this property.
Thank you very much for your very kind review. We do try our best to make sure the house has everything a guest might need. We always stay there a few times a year ourselves, so of course we want it to be lovely! We hope you stay at Plumb Corner again.
Plumb corner is an excellent place to stay in kingsteignton. It is clean comfortable.
We have stayed at the house before and yet again it didn't disappoint us. It was warm and very comfortable and met all our needs. It is in an ideal situation to go to anywhere in South Devon and only took us just over the hour to visit Cornwall. We loved every miniute our stay and hope to return in 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Plumb corner. It was big enough for our whole family and we even had space for additional family members round for dinner!! Kitted out with everything that we needed, we had a great stay!! Thank you!
We are so pleased you had a lovely stay at Plumb Corner. We try very hard to make sure the house is comfortable for all our guests - you are on holiday after all! We'd love to have you back if you'd like to stay again. Thank you for leaving the house so clean and tidy, we really appreciate it. Best wishes, Charlotte.
lovely relaxing holiday in a good comfy house. had everything we needed. would recommend it.
There was just the two of us so had plenty of room. Did not use upstairs at all. Despite the weather we were easily able to get to our walking destinations due to good road networks. Likewise with visiting the many National Trust properties. We cooked most nights. The only thing that would have been useful is a steamer to fit over the large saucepan to steam our vegetables. Bed was comfy. Shower good. What more can you ask for. Would like to stay again.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased you had a lovely holiday. It is certainly a priority of ours to make the house, and the beds, as comfortable as possible. We stay there ourselves whenever we get a chance so the house is very well equipped, and we will make sure we get a steamer to fit over a saucepan - a very good idea! We would love to welcome you back again. Thank you for leaving the house so clean - very kind of you.
Great house, well equipped, good location, suited us!
Our mother is in her 80's and uses a wheelchair and walking frame, so we needed a property with a bedroom and bathroom facilities on the ground floor. This property fitted the bill perfectly, with 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs plus a twin room, shower and toilet upstairs. Spacious kitchen diner and living rooms were cozy. Property is ideally situated if, like us, you want a base from which to explore the delights that Devon has to offer. We had a lovely time!
Lovely spacious house, but needs a good clean regards dusting, cobwebs and spiders in almost every room. Went to plug in my hair dryer between the wall and dressing table and found cobwebs and two spiders. Opened the landing skylight to get a breeze and masses of cobwebs. Shifted the microwave and bread bin and there were bits everywhere. Grime around the kitchen taps. With a four and a half star rating everything should be spotless. We have found this situation before when the owner lives elsewhere and has a cleaner. The bath sheets were rough, but the normal size towels were fluffy and soft. If
these things were attended to we would stay there again as everything
else is good.
We really appreciate your feedback, and we'll make sure the house gets a thorough dusting before our next guests. Its always good to know if there are any issues as we want everyone to enjoy their holiday and really hope they have happy memories of their stay. It is true we live in Kent so don't get to Plumb Corner as often as we would like, but our caretaker is only round the corner and she is there very often making sure the maintenance is kept up. We will speak to her immediately to make sure this is sorted out.
We hope that we may be welcoming you back to our holiday home in the future.
Best Wishes, Charlotte
Fabulous coastlines and golden sandy beaches - not to menton more than its fair share of sunshine - combine to make Devon a perennial favourite among holidaymakers. Often overlooked, East Devon is a land of rolling, wooded hills and valleys and the the most impressive beaches. Driving times to: Teignmouth beach - 10 minutes. Shaldon beach - 15 minutes. Paignton beach 20 minutes - Torquay beach 20 minutes.
Nearest airport is Exeter. Ports: Plymouth is 30 miles. A car would be useful - however, there are good regular bus services nearby going to Torquay (20 mins), Exeter (30 mins) Newton Abbott (10 mins).
A steep uphill stroll from the village of Kingsteignton which has local shops and pubs. The bustling market town of Newton Abbot (Market Day is Wednesday) is a 10 min drive and Torquay and the beautiful Babbacombe coastline is a 20 min drive. Kingsteignton is just outside Newton Abbot and Dartmoor, with its high granite tors and beautiful wooded valleys of the Teign, Bovey and Dart rivers is within 20 minutes drive of the house.
Local attractions include Dartmoor National Park, the River Dart Country Park, South Devon Railway and the beautiful river trip to Dartmouth from Totnes, and the picturesque village of Shaldon with many pubs and restaurants. Torquay and the "English Riviera" is 20 minutes drive from the house although it's just as easy to get the 'country bus' just outside Plumb Corner to Torquay and, after an afternoon shopping or an evening night clubbing, get a taxi back to the house. You will be surprised by the continental atmosphere of this stretch of coastline, with its 18 beaches and secluded coves. The mild climate and luxuriant, sub-tropical vegetation, together with all the amenities and facilities you would expect, make this a superb place to visit.
