About Nicholas and Jill
We are both retired farmers living in the beautiful countryside of the Scottish Borders. We both enjoy outdoor activities and are keen gardeners. Both our children are now pursuing their own careers but we still have our labrador.
Nicholas and Jill purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Nicholas and Jill chose Playa Blanca
We have been coming to Lanzarote for many years and found that Playa Blanca had the most sunshine on the island. It is a very friendly place and suitable for all ages. It has lots of restaurants and shops to suit all tastes and pockets and easy access to other activities. The new marina is well worth a visit with its twice weekly market.
What makes this Villa unique
This villa is our holiday home where we can have our children and grandchildren to stay. It has a lovely artistic shaped pool with an extensive terrace and a garden with many Canarian shrubs and trees. It is private and you could be forgiven if you thought you were on your own. It is an ideal place to enjoy your sundowner while watching the sun disappear behind Montana Roja. It is within walking distance of a beach, restaurants and shops.

Fabulous villa in a great location
A gorgeous villa in a great location. We have been in many villas over the lsst 10 years but this ones outside space gardens hottub and fabulous pool was the best. Inside the villa is equally as comfortable with everything you need for a good holiday.
Thank you for your review. One of the main reasons we bought Vista Mar for our holiday home was because it had an extensive terrace and garden with views over the sea to Fuentaventura and being able to enjoy a sundowner on the terrace while the sun sets behind the red mountain! The pool was another factor being an unusual shape.

Excellent villa equipped well beautiful pool area and quiet surroundings
Villa del mar is beautiful well equipped and homely. We had everything we needed for our stay there. Poor and outdoor area are excellent would definitely go back or recommend
Delighted that you enjoyed staying in our villa and hope that you may return one day.
Wonderful villa with views, hot tub and pool and an amazing outdoor sunny terrace!
The villa was immaculate with a lovely modern kitchen and comfortable sitting area inside. The private large outside space really is the crowning glory as it gets the sun all day and the gardens are beautifully maintained with an array of colourful flowering hibiscus. The views from the terrace, pool and hot tub of Mount Roja are superb aswell as the views to the front of the sea and across the water to Fuerteventura. We took a round trip walk up to Mount Roja direct from the villa (around 2.5 hours) which gave fantastic panoramic views of Playa Blanca and across the sea to Fuerteventura. We paid to have the large pool heated and were glad we did as otherwise in April it would have been too cold to have a dip and putting the covers on at night kept the heat in nicely. (The pool was cleaned twice while we were there). The hot tub was blissful and very relaxing (although do check that it's on 38c as it was set at 26c when we arrived so was a bit chilly to begin with and it was only upon reading the information book that we realised it should be set warmer) There are a couple of supermarkets right on Flamingo beach which is only 10 mins walk away with a good array of food and alcohol and there's also a Spar a bit further on. The only issues we did have was the wifi dropped out and the router needed resetting and as the router is locked away in a cupboard we couldn't fix it. However a quick call to the very helpful English speaking A1 (who maintain the villa) gave us advice on how to fix it. There was also no mop and bucket provided (which I can only think was an oversight) and this was especially needed after having showers in the wet rooms to mop up but again the very obliging A1 were able to deliver us one. We appreciated the welcome pack which was a nice touch. (Just a constructive note, along with the dishcloth and tea towels which were provided, it would have been a bonus if some cleaning products could have been provided under the sink e.g toilet cleaner, dishwasher tabs, anti-bac spray, washing up liquid, etc. I know you don't go on holiday to do housework but it's nice if products are provided so you have the option to keep things spic and span as you don't really want to have to buy it all in if you're only there for a week). Having stayed in a number of villas previously, we were very impressed with this villa and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The owners have put a lot of thought and work into this villa and it really shows!
Delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Apologies over the bucket and mop. It was being used elsewhere and obviously forgotten to be put back. We also have trouble with the WiFi but it is easily remedied. We had to lock it away as it was occasionally being abused. We do not provide cleaning products as we find that clients usually leave what they do not use for the next person.
Hopefully you will come again one day.
Very pleasant villa with fab views
Spacious & comfortable villa with great views out to Fuerteventura. Lovely & quiet at night. Pretty side gardens with larger than average pool ideal for families though cover is a bit of a palava :-)
Great location - easy walk to Playa Flamingo & the main harbour areas. Didn't use the air con as we stayed in winter but can imagine it would be a real boon for summer visitors.
Peaceful and large space
Lovely big villa with enough facilities to keep us all happy and entertained - pool area is larger than other villas I have seen and the hot tub is brilliant - the area around is quiet and clean and it’s not far to walk to the Flamingo beach, which is great. Thanks for a lovely holiday
Fantastic family villa
We had a smashing stay at Villa Vista Mar. Having three children ranging from 21months to 11 years old it is a challenge to make everyone happy, the pool certainly did the trick. It's huge!! The villa is very well equipt, better than other villas we have stayed in. It's clean and maintained very well too. A massive thank you to the owners who took the time to answer my questions before I booked, it was a great help. The location is only a short walk from a lovely safe beach with a few shops and bars etc. We all loved our stay and if we return to Playa Blanca we would love to stay again.
A short ten minute walk takes one to the golden sandy beach of Playa Flamingo which is very sheltered and safe for children. Natura beach is also nearby in the other direction. Further afield (15 minutes by car) are the Papagayo beaches which are composed of several small bays with crystal clear waters. These can be reached by car or by taking a boat trip from the harbour.
Arrecife airport is about 40 minutes away by car. There are also taxis. Transport from and to the airport can be made by mini bus if arranged in advance.
Car hire is recommended but not essential but ideal to visit the many sights on this island.
Supermarkets, restaurants, bars and banking facilities are within 10 minutes walking distance. There are some excellent restaurants to the right of the villa passed the Natura Palace hotel.
The main shopping area is about 25 minutes walk from the villa. There is an open air market on Wednesday and Saturday at the Rubicon marina and a large market at Teguise on Sunday mornings.
A new water park, which opened summer 2012 is within walking distance. Diving, cycling, deep sea fishing, sailing, tennis are some of the sports to be enjoyed. Bicycles can be hired locally.
There is also a local bus number 30 which goes around Playa Blanca and which stops opposite the Rio Playa Blanca.
Further afield there are two golf course, horse riding, quad biking and windsurfing.
