About Mona Fairholme
I live in England with my wife Mona who teaches yoga. I retired early in 2008 after 40 years at Yorkshire TV. I've been involved with mountain activities nearly all my life. I have climbed in Britain, the Alps and the Dolomites. 30 years ago I took up skiing and fell in love with the French alps. I have skied and walked all over France Austria Italy and Andorra. My wife our 2 daughters and their partners also ski and walk. We all get together when we can. The girls bring their friends. It's the best kind of holiday, lots of fresh air, activity, and then to relax in a nice friendly bar before coming home to a nice warm fire! I have converted the cellar into a smaller apartment and I am now in the process of renovating/restructuring the barn into living accommodation. So watch this space. We will be able to have bigger groups.
Mona Fairholme purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Mona Fairholme chose Termignon
I visited Val Cenis twelve years ago. We had a fantastic week with lots of new snow and hardly any lift queues! I'd been looking for somewhere to buy in the Alps for a while. The Maurienne Valley is perfect. For skiing in winter and walking in summer. This plus the friendly atmosphere and fantastic Alpine scenery made Val Cenis my 'first choice' holiday venue. Termignon is a little known gem, yet is easy to get to; no traffic jams at peak times! The National Parc is one of the largest protected areas in Europe. The Ski pass is "cheap" You are allowed one day extension to visit Val Thoren & 3 valleys. Its position produces its own microclimate and has an excellent snow record. It has everything I want yet is still a very traditional farming village. The local produce is fantastic.
What makes this Apartment unique
Termignon is a relatively undiscovered area. It's small and friendly, near to the Italian border. Compared to other alpine towns, great value for money. The skiing is uncrowded. The spectacular mountains are just the place to find peace and quiet if that is what you want. There is enough locally to keep everyone happy. The ski area includes Termignon, Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard, each with its own area but all linked together. Unlike the custom built ski flats that each area has, our apartment is in the middle of the village whilst the ski slopes are only 6 or 7 minutes walk away. Typically on Thursday evening, we stroll up to the slopes to watch the weekly descent au flambeaux and have a hot wine or chocolate and a bit of cheese before walking back to the flat via a bar or two!

Comfortable and conveniently located apartment.
We've stayed here before and having two double bedrooms it's ideal for two adult couples - difficult to find apartments that aren't purely geared towards families. It's well equipped, a real home from home with uk tv, dvd and wi-fi. The ski lift is just a short trudge and gives access to a large ski area. I'm sure we'll return.
Lovely people, lovely setting.
Perfect base for our ski holiday. Plenty of lovely skiing in a lovely genuine resort. All that you need at hand, a small supermarket, bigger one down the road, lovely restaurants, friendly people. Steve and Mona have been helpful and brilliant. Thank you for making our week lovely.
Ski School is 200 metres from the apartment. Local supermarket and the bakery are 35metres from the apartment .

Tour de France nearby most years sometimes comes through the village. The villages have their own chairlift and they open 1 day a week during the summer so you can get quite high before you start cycling or walking. Things to do. In Summer. The mountains provide a great setting for fantastic walking. The mountain sides are well provided with footpaths. The slopes of our nearest mountain (Pointe de Cugne 2,984 metres) starts just five minutes walk from the apartment. Mountain biking, climbing and Via Ferrata are very popular in the valley. Other activities include fishing, horse riding, parapenting and water sports, like white water rafting are available on the River Arc. The Italian border is 15 minute by car and the historic town of Suze is a 45 minute drive away. En route there is the stunning Lac de Cenis 15 min. drive. The Col De Cenis is the mountain pass which was used by Hannibal with his forty elephants in 218 BCE. The area abounds with Roman remains and the region's tortuous history continued over the centuries as borders changed. Nearby villages include Bonneval, Solliere Sardiere and Bramans, all typical Alpine communities steeped in history and mountain farming. At the head of the valley lies the col d'Iseran. At over 2800 metres this is the highest pass in the Alps and its road leads to Val D'Isere. It is one of the popular cols often used for the Tour De France. The village has a useful small supermarket and there is a very large supermarket 1 km away. There is a village bakery/patissiere a selection of local produce shops selling cheeses, hams and saucissons. There is a large very helpful Tourist Information Office 30 yards from the house which has an ATM cash machine. There are a variety of bars and restaurants serving local specialities. In Lanslebourge there is a cinema. The area has many festivals throughout the year. There is always something to delight the visitors. From huskies team racing in January, A big Musical festival end of January. Accordion festivals and music festival in summer.
