Beautiful villa in the countryside

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! Photos do not do this villa justice it's more colourful and gorgeous in person...from the moment we got there we felt relaxed and could feel all the tension and tiredness drain away...Elena was there to show us around and helped us with questions we had....when I had a problem with the safe she came straight out to help which was great as I'd locked everything in there!! The garden is beautiful you can tell much love and work has gone into it..Henrik and Barbara have thought of everything for the villa...we loved using the outdoor kitchen and cooked 3 nights while we stayed there....I loved all the artwork and ornaments throughout the villa it shows their extensive travel experiences...we hope to come back in the near future...thank you Henrik & Barbara

Rural, relaxing, spacious, brilliantly equipped

  • 5 of 5

We loved the vibe of Casa Calida, spacious, homely & stylish (Mediterranean meets Scandi and not a hint of 'fussy') and lots of wonderful spaces for the whole family to chill out. The photos on the website don't do justice to the villa, especially now the gardens are more mature.

The open plan living / eating / kitchen worked really well - open and spacious but arranged into several distinct areas giving space and privacy when you want it. We loved having a kitchen equipped with pretty much everything you could want to cook 'properly' (for example scales, blender, even a bread cooker) not to mention three different ways of making coffee (nespresso, cafetiere. stove top percolater)

The bedrooms are spacious and (importantly for the Andalucian summer) air-conditioned. The walk-in (i.e. there is no door) ensuite bathrooms might not be to everyone's liking but again are well fitted out and stylishly finished. Modern windows with integrated fly-screens and shutters throughout make it easy to keep the house a manageable temperature and keep the light out for lazy mornings.

The wide veranda around two sides of the house give more options of places to sit, eat, cook (great touches like an outside fridge and glasses by the pool and BBQ) plus a further terrace and seating area on the third side of the house. The garden is big, beautifully planted and laid out, with yet more quiet corners with tables for an evening drink, chairs for a quiet read etc.

The pool, 10m and about 140cm throughout was lovely with loungers, parasols and a large day bed strewn with cushions under a rush roof alongside, with room for all four of us to curl up together with a book.

Elena is on hand in the village and super friendly and helpful with any questions.

We enjoy the rustic-ness of the region (we have visited previously) and relatively few non-Spanish tourists. The lovely Vejer de la Frontera or Benelap are a short drive away for restaurants, food shopping etc. We enjoyed the long sandy beaches beyond on the coast including surfing, especially at El Palmar although the Levante winds blew hard for a full week (unusually) for our first week rendering the beaches empty due to the sand blasting experience.

Family outings included whale watching from Tarifa and the Algeciras water park which the children loved (and the adults too if they are honest!) but we mostly enjoyed doing very little more than reading, drawing and swimming at the villa.

Could not have been better

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Casa Calida. The property exceeded all our expectations - the photos on the web site don't do it justice. The whole house was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and exceptionally well-equipped. The garden was stunning, full of fruit trees, interesting features and hidden corners, and the swimming pool was perfect - we couldn't keep the children out of it. We also found our correspondence with the owners always friendly and welcoming and we were greeted very warmly when we arrived and were provided with all the information that we needed to make our stay as easy and stress-free as possible. There werelovely beaches just a short drive away, pretty little hill towns with pleasant restaurants and cafes nearby and Cadiz and Jerez are not too far away. I would have no hesitation in recommending this house to anyone.

We really felt at home here

  • 5 of 5

Casa Calida is really nice, very complete, with an

amazing garden and a superb swimming pool. It has been the perfect relax

week before going back to the busy normal life. Thanks a lot for all the

efforts you have done to make this place so special.

Beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fantastic week in Casa Calida at the beginning of august 2012. You'll find a large garden with several terraces with sun as well with shadow. There is a large pool which had a perfect temperature. You have a lot of privacy and no noise of neighbours. The house is great , very comfortable and spacious and the kitchen is fully equipped. In each bedroom there is air-conditioning which guarantees you a good night sleep. There is plenty to see in the area, although we find it hard to get away, because we enjoyed relaxing. We went to see Cadiz, Tarifa, Gibraltar and Vejer.

We also had Dutch television. Although we normally don't watch TV, we now enjoyed watching the Olympics in the evening. The two bathrooms makes it also suitable for two families

Erma was very friendly and helpful.

It's a wonderful place for relaxing and we fully recommend this villa. We would have liked to stay an another week if it had been possible.

Sophisicated Beauty for Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Calida from 7th-14th August 2011. It was an amazing two weeks. We would thoroughly recommend the beauitul villa. It is exquiste. Every space has something beauitful to look at!! The villa is very well equipped, so much so that you rarely need to leave this haven of fun and relaxation. The pool is perfect for a gentle swim or for he kids to amuse themselves for hours. The local town, Vejer de la Frontera, is beautiful and full of lovely shops and places to eat. You are very well looked after by Erma, who offers good advice on local attactrations and events. A very Spanish holiday - just want we wanted.

Cortijo Casa Cálida is a short drive away from the large beaches of the Costa de la Luz with its lively bars, music and restaurants with Andalucian food. Nearby are Vejer de la Frontera and Medina Sidonia, typical examples of Pueblo Blanco dating back from the long and rich cultural Andalucian past. Barbate, a small fishing port, is famous for its traditional tuna fishing. National parks on the main bird migration routes between Africa and Europe include La Breña de Barbate, La Sierra de los Alcornocales and the Bahía de Cádiz. For shopping and sightseeing you can make day trips to Cádiz, Jerez de La Frontera and Sevilla…

The surroundings offer great opportunities for sight-seeing, walking, cycling, horse riding and bird watching. For a game of golf the beautiful Montenmedio and Benalup courses are only 20 minutes away. And Morocco is just across the water…
