About Peter Hobson

Based in the UK, but with a love for the outdoors, French way of life, food and wine we are all keen skiers and active sports enthusiasts. After 25 years skiing in the Portes du Soleil region we couldn’t resist buying our own property, and hope to spend as much time as possible in Châtel with our two young daughters. When not in town, we look to offer what we always wanted to hire, traditional Alpine Chalet, well equipped with quality furnishings modern technology, and all the little things we miss when not at home (eg, Fluffy towels for the ladies, girls and Logs for the boys, and Wii for the kids)

Peter Hobson purchased this chalet in 2012

Why Peter Hobson chose Châtel

Chatel is a authentic French Alpine town, with a very close and friendly community, with stunning landscape. The area is one of the largest ski regions in the world with over 650kms of piste and one of the best snow records in the whole of the Alps. In summer, with the blanket of snow gone, it’s perfect for spending countless hours hiking, cycling, adventuring or just relaxing and indulging in the great surroundings.

What makes this chalet unique

Chalet Chocolat is a stylish chalet with panoramic mountain views located in the charming alpine town of Chatel part of the massive Portes du Soleil ski region. It offers the ideal retreat for those enjoying the great outdoors.

The chalet is conveniently nestled between the two main Chatel lifts, Linga and Pre la Joux, situated on the route of the regular free bus service. Close enough to town to be convenient for bars, restaurants and shopping but secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of nature. Perfect for two families sharing, or groups of friends. Self catering, but with flexible optional extras and catering options to ensure that you have the perfect stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife, the kids and I had a lovely time in Chatel, the weather was great and the landscape beautiful. We all enjoyed a delightful stay in Chalet Chocolat and its peaceful surroundings. It provided all that we were looking for. Thanks for everything. M.G (8/2012)

Just returned from Chalet Chocolat, had a wonderful time, the chalet was perfect for us all, a fantastic place to stay and the little extras made all the difference. A proper home from home with everything we required.

Thanks very much, we are sure to returnAB & family (1/2013)

We had an amazing week, your chalet was wonderful and we all felt really at home. I can't thank you enough for the help you gave. The ski school was great & the kids came away able to ski with medals to prove it. The ski hire were great, nothing was too much trouble, we will certainly use them again. We would very much like to use your chalet again in the future as we really loved the location and the warm feeling of the chalet. CW 2/2013

Absolutely Amazing Chalet - Home from Home

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Highly recommended.

We have used this Chalet 3 years in a row now and always enjoy our stay. We arrive to a clean and warm chalet, with our pre-shopping already delivered. The facilities are excellent, and I think most importantly for us, the chalet feels like a home, with the kitchen always well stocked with the basics, the lounge has a DVD player and a wii for the kids, and the bedrooms are ready to go. There is always wood for the wood burner, essential for any ski trip. The garage is perfect for our ski gear.

The location is excellent, mid way between Linga and PreLaJoux, and the bus stops right outside. The Skiiing in Chatel is excellent, and a great window into the Portes Du Soleil region. Our children have all learnt to ski here and we are now free to go off exploring as a family.

The owners are great, and always helpful and responsive and the Chalet managers are just over the road and always available.

I can highly recommend a stay at Chalet Chocolat!

Great week in the summer

  • 4 of 5

Thank you for such a lovely weeks holiday. I hope you can make use of this review.

We enjoyed our week in August in the mountains at Ski Chalet Chocolat.

There was so much to do in Chatel for everyone in the family from walking, Via Ferrata, biking and swimming in the luxurious new pool in town. The chalet had all the home comforts to make a really relaxing weeks holiday. The kitchen was well stocked , it even had a slow cooker making it easy to feed six of us in the evenings after active days out !

It was exciting to be able to use the amazing lift system that Chatel has to offer to reach the higher ground ( we have only ever been to the Alps in the winter season before this trip but will become a regular summer visitors now). It felt great to walk from France into Switzerland and back in an afternoon!

Chalet Chocolat

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful chalet that is clearly loved. Not only did we have all the conveniences, but also all the comfort, luxury and character that so many places lack. The support network for skis, food & cleaning was all in place and allows you to maximise time on the mountain. This is further enhanced by the ski-in, bus out location. Love the accessibility of Chatel from Geneva, making it a fantastic gateway in to the Portes du Soleil ski area. Best recommendation I can give is that I have already booked to go again this season. A very appropriately named Chalet.....

Chalet Chocolat

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Chocolat has been our favourite destination for the last two years. It is great accommodation for family or friends to share a skiing or walking holiday in the French Alps. The chalet is well placed for either the slopes (free bus stop just close to the chalet) or just popping into town. It is extremely comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing fun holiday. The views from the balcony are stunning and perfect for enjoying a glass of something refreshing after a day on the slopes.

Chalet Chocolat

  • 5 of 5

Great chalet, all you need, warm, comfortable, ideal for us to get away as a family, enjoy the Portes du Soleil with perfect access in to Pre La Joux and Avoriaz areas and then to relax in the evenings with the kids and friends. Easy access to the slopes and nice to be tucked away from the main stream of a ski resort. ( We even managed to escape there this summer to enjoy some croissants and coffee on the balcony! Beautiful mountain walks, biking to the village for a beer or glass of vino, whilst the children loved the activities that the whole area offers, certainly plenty to do with amazing scenery ).
