Court Cottage is an attractive, detached stone house surrounded by a lovely, well developed garden in the secluded, picturesque (dog friendly) small village of Chedington, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cottage, tastefully restored into a convenient, comfortable, modern dwelling, overlooks a handsome neo-Gothic style stately home which, with its turrets & bell-tower, imparts a romantic atmosphere to the village, beyond which stretch beautiful views of the rolling Dorset countryside. Chedington nestles beside a dramatic, National Trust-protected ridge of beech trees which in spring is carpeted with bluebells. In addition to numerous foot & bridle paths in surrounding areas, the cottage is well situated to cater to a range of interests - 20 minutes from Dorset's World Heritage Jurassic coast; 10 minutes from Beaminster's excellent restaurants & shops & a 3 minute walk up the lane to the historic, popular Winyards Gap pub which boasts a much respected kitchen.

So relaxing we extended our stay.
Gorgeous house with a relaxing atmosphere. Stunning views from the bedrooms and as you walk through the very quiet village.
The house is very spacious and has everything you need. The office was very useful for the occasions I needed to work.
The bed in the Master bedroom was huge and very comfortable. The range in the kitchen was easy to use and very walming as the weather got chillier!
Lovely location and pub 5 minutes walk served good food with friendly staff.
Thank you so much! We're delighted that you enjoyed our cottage and its surroundings, and that you found everything you needed. We love it too!
Lovely well kept property
Great place, very peaceful location
Well appointed, comfortable and quietly situated.
Another relaxing stay in this lovely cottage, thank you Felicity.
Very nice location. Quiet and ideally located to visit Dorset and neighbouring counties.
This typically British cottage is very well located in a small village. We stayed there for one marvellous week. Highly recommended for people looking for a quiet stay.
Really lovely cottage
Great place to stay and explore the Dorset countryside.
Thank you! We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay, and were able to discover some of the great things West Dorset has to offer in terms of history, landscape, access to the Jurassic coast and of course the pubs!
Lovely comfortable cosy cottage in quiet village and good location for visiting local towns
The cottage was very well equipped and more like a home from home than a holiday cottage. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms and lovely conservatory and well kept gardens. The cooker is a Rayburn which is an art in itself, but we found the cottage too hot to have it on as the weather was nice the whole time we were there, if visiting in cooler months I’m sure the heat would be appreciated. The only comment we have is that the TV is very small and too small for the sitting room, but if you are not used to a larger TV then not a problem. Overall a great cottage and if we are in the area again we would return
Jurassic Coast was UK's first national World Heritage Site. It covers 95 miles of stunning coastline including rocks spanning 185 million years of Earth's history. Area provides A-1 hiking & rich exploration opportunities for fossil enthusiasts. As well as pebbly beaches, there are many suitable for swimming & picnicking, closest being Burton Bradstock, 20 mins from Chedington. Fishing, scuba diving & sailing are enjoyed at West Bay & Weymouth, site of 2012 Summer Olympics sailing competition.
Chedington is 20 mins from A303 route linking M3 & A30 to the West Country. Use of car is recommended, although rail links are good (Crewkerne or Yeovil to London = 2 hrs 20 mins with fares reasonable if booked in advance or at off-peak). Central London by car = 3 hours. Heathrow airport = 2 hours. Bristol international airport = 1½ hour. Bournemouth international airport = 1¼ hour. Poole Ferries to France = 1 hour. Weymouth Ferries = ¾ hour. Portsmouth Ferries = 1¾ hour. Southampton =1½ hour.
Nearest village with shop/Post Office is Mosterton, 2 miles away (good for milk, bread, newspapers, etc.). Crewkerne, 10 mins, has new Waitrose supermarket, & LIDL. Excellent butcher, several banks, public library, Boots chemists, coffee shops, delicatessen, hardware, gift shops, & several well stocked thrift shops are also there, and an open air market - with French stalls - in summer. Beaminster, 3 miles, is a picturesque small town with character...and numerous shops, including upmarket gifts & clothing, Aveda hair salon & small Co-Op grocery store. Bridport, on sea, 20 min, has Waitrose & Morrisons supermarket & is an interesting town to explore with great variety of shops, boutique restaurants & pubs. From here you can easily access West Bay, Burton Bradstock beaches & Eype. Sherborne, 30 mins, is an ancient & picturesque town featuring superb Abbey Church & renowned schools, & is known for its many antiques & fine art shops. Yeovil, 20 minutes, is a largish town with Tesco supermarket & all name brand shops – Laura Ashley; Marks & Spencer; Body Shop; etc. Dorchester, 30 minutes, is historic County capital & market town with main shops as per Yeovil & excellent museum. Restaurants: this part of Dorset is a ‘foodie’ heaven, home to several TV chef personalities - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage is near Axminster, 20 minutes, & Lesley Waters runs her cookery school in nearby Minterne Magna. Other recommended restaurants include: Bridge House Hotel restaurant & brasserie in Beaminster; Riverside Café, West Bay, serving first class seafood; Acorn Inn, Evershot; Little Barwick House near Yeovil; & the Hive Beach Café at Burton Bradstock.
