Welcoming, well-equipped 'home from home' in authentic village close to Bellagio

Bedrooms 2
Separate WCs1
Space 861 sq. ft.
Property type apartment

About the property

Casa Bellagina: a 'home from home' in authentic village 5 minutes' drive from Bellagio, Lake Como - Situated in a Quaint Village, 5 mins' Drive/25 mins/ walk from Centre of Bellagio

Home comforts and attention to detail abound: good lighting, plentiful mirrors and wardrobe space. High ceilings and tiled floors keep it cool in the summer; a wood-burning stove is a cosy addition to the central heating in winter. Catch the summer breeze, from the balcony, where you can sip an ‘aperitivo’ before dinner and watch the sun set on the Grigne mountains. There are 3 restaurants/ pizzerias within easy walking distance. Self-catering is no problem as the kitchen is perfectly equipped and there is a well-stocked grocery a few steps away. Enjoy breakfast Italian style with tempting pastries and brioches from the bakery across the piazza or maybe pop over to the local café for a cappuccino.

About Sally Reynolds

My name is Sally and I moved from North Wales to Italy 15 years ago. I lived in Bellagio for 7 years ago until, for work reasons, I moved to the Sabina area, north of Rome.

I was reluctant to leave Bellagio but Italy has so many beautiful areas that I now feel privileged to be living in yet another! I am enjoying life in the countryside. Having my own olive trees makes me happy; having my own extra virgin oil makes me even happier! (You'll find it in the kitchen of my apartments.)

I have worked in the tourism industry for 30 years and know Italy very well. I will be happy to help you plan your trip to Italy.

Sally Reynolds purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Sally Reynolds chose Bellagio

Visgnola is the favourite residential hamlet in Bellagio as it has easy access and full amenities. For visitors this is also a huge benefit as you only need cross the square to pick up your fresh bread and pastries for breakfast. Sitting on the balcony watching the comings and goings of the locals is addictive!

If you choose not to drive, it is a pleasant 25 minute walk to the lakefront and although it is uphill coming home you can reward yourself with a glass of wine at the local bar or on the balcony!

The pace of life, the views, the strolling are all enough to bring the blood pressure and stress levels down. Take a leaf out of the Italians' book and slow atmosphere is conducive!

Bellagio is, quite simply, a very special place.

What makes this apartment unique

As I have been living here until recently the apartment is set up as a home rather than a rental property. Beds are comfortable, storage is plentiful, lighting is as you would want at home, films and books are available, the kitchen is well-equipped. My guests find it comfortable, cosy and not lacking in anything. I am happy to help or advise both before arrival and during your stay. My aim is to make you feel at home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a fabulous apartment - we have been travelling from week-rental to week-rental for the past couple of months, staying in some great places, but I think I can confidently say that this is head and shoulders above the rest!

We are totally thrilled to be staying here!

May 2010. David Quynh-Nhu , Australia

We had a fantastic holiday in Bellagio, it is the perfect place to relax and recover from a very tiring but fabulous week's hiking in Switzerland. Your apartment is immaculate, very comfortable and homely. The village has a real 'buzz' about it. The little bakery and the friendly locals added to the authentic Italian feel of the place. A perfect place to unwind and take in the breathtaking lake and mountain scenery. We would definitely recommend your apartment to others and we would love to visit again.

Many thanks

Nice clean two bedroom home. Sally gave easy directions how to find it & get access to the property

  • 5 of 5

The home provided everything we needed for our stay. The pizzeria down the road at the bed-and-breakfast was fabulous. We walk there one evening and thought that was the best pizza we’ve had this trip. Restaurant across the street noisy Saturday night. Bakery downstairs was fabulous. A bit of a walk to the beach but there is us access. Bellagio is a beautiful community and town.

Precious place in the heart of it all

  • 5 of 5

Sally’s place was perfect and gave us a taste of the Italian life style. This charming apartment is above a bakery . By the end of our visit we knew several of the neighbors & Carlo even sang for us on our last night. It was A real Italian experience. Sally was very responsive to anything that we requested . Couldn’t of had a better hostess . We fell in love with the quaint little village of Bellagio and hope to make it back for another visit someday . Thank you Sally ...

Special Stay

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is first class and set in a beautiful area. We stayed in April for two nights in the little village of Visgnola just outside Bellagio. The extra little things available are amazing. Even a rolling pin! We felt just a bit like locals as there is a nice village feel. The walk in and out of Bellagio is a bit of a test but we are all in our 60’s and handled it no worries. Thanks Sally, we hope to return one day! Ian and Lyn Australia

Home from home - a beautiful place and super location!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week in Sally's beautiful property. Our girls loved swimming in the lake and making friends with some of the local girls. The restaurants and pub were all fantastic as was the little cake shop near the property. We had a very relaxing week thanks to an excellent and well equipped apartment - Sally has thought of everything! Lake Como was just breath taking and we would highly recommend hiring a boat in Bellagio for a few hours. An unforgettable week for us as a family.

I will send driving directions or help with your public transportation arrangements.

Further Details:

Of all the compliments I receive from guests these two are most common: firstly, how delightful it is to stay just out of the fray in the village of Visgnola rather than inside Bellagio and secondly, what a wonderful surprise it is to find such a cosy, well-equipped holiday apartment. A complimentary bottle of chilled wine will be waiting for you on arrival! Everyone has also commented on the delicious pastries from the local pasticceria (pastry shop)!

Visgnola also has a tobacconist, 3 restaurant / pizzerias, a café with outdoor terrace and a grocery store selling all essentials including bread, cheeses, fresh pasta etc. There is a bank with an ATM 1km away.

A car gives you access to restaurants in the mountains behind Bellagio where cuisine is very authentic and the prices lower. There are many walks to do in the hills and countryside away from the lake. Milan can be reached by train from Varenna or Lecco for a day of culture and shopping.

Lecco and Como are both worth visiting for slightly larger towns. Lenno has a weekly market and is accessible by ferry as are all the villages around the lake.

Magnificent gardens are available in Bellagio (Villa Melzi) and nearby Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta). Villa Balbianello at Lenno has been used in recent movies (Star Wars and Casino Royale). There are guide books and local maps provided in the apartment. Should you require the services of a local guide this can be arranged.

A car is very useful but not essential. I am happy to help you plan your journey if arriving by public transport.

I do keep my calendar up to date on this site and on my own website. I am happy to call or Skype you in order to answer any questions and settle any concerns. Please see my website for more reviews and Casa Bellagina on Facebook for more photos.
