Garden Apartment in Liberty Villa in Bagni di Lucca, Tuscany, Italy - Set In Lovely Gardens, Short Walk To Bars, Shops And Restaurants
- English, Italian
We are an English couple with our teenage daughter living here in Bagni di Lucca full time. We moved here 6 years ago and have been bringing the villa back to it's former glory ever since. I am a Reflexology and can offer treatments during your stay if you wish.
Why Owner chose Bagni di Lucca
We all adore living here. We fell in love with Tuscany many years ago before we were married and vowed to live here one day. We wanted to find the perfect place for us - not far from the mountains for skiing in the winter and not far from beaches and the river in the hot summer months with easy access to all the cultural cities. We didn't want to be in an isolated hill village, where you have to journey 20 minutes to the nearest shop for provisions. For us Bagni di Lucca struck the perfect balance of old world charm, with wonderful restaurants, bars and cafes on our doorstep but within 10 minutes walk you can be in the beautiful forested hills surrounding the town taking in the stunning views or by the river that our villa backs onto. Our little piece of heaven.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our Villa is very convenient for all the shops and regular market (Saturday and Wednesday mornings) all just a short walk away. During the summer the town often closes the road outside the villa in the evenings and has live music and dining in the street, which is such a lovely thing to do. We enjoy the lovely walking trails some of which circuit right back with no need to drive at all. Bagni di Lucca is a spa town with thermal water baths and spa's in abundance so you really can enjoy the most relaxing and romantic time here or indeed just recharge the batteries. We love being so close to Lucca (20 minutes by car) which has its own summer music festival throughout July. We particularly enjoy the antiques market there 3rd weekend of every month.

Beautiful Authentic hidden Gem in Bagni Di Lucca
What a fantastic place to stay. The villa is very well maintained and the owners are fantastic with a little gift basket on arrival. Charles was a great help in showing where to go and how to get there, going above and beyond the role of proprietor. We are a family of four with Two teenage daughters who loved the pool and the WiFi. The villa is situated in a perfect spot close to all amenities and of an evening you can hear the river. Just beautiful would definitely recommend to others.

Pisa - 1 hour drive away. Car hire is recommended but not essential with this property as buses and trains to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio are easily accessible just a short walk away from the Villa.

Bagni di Lucca itself has many open air dining and music events throughout the summer. Most of the hill villages of the region often have fiesta's from medieval festivals with flag throwing demonstrations to local Tuscan food festivals, there's always something fun going on. As the name suggest Bagni di Lucca is a thermal town where you can treat yourself at one of the thermal spa's. There are some stunning walks to explore be they short circuits round the thermal baths area and along mule tracks leading to the hill villages overlooking beautiful Bagni di Lucca. Or for the more adventurous climb up to the top of Prato Fiorito and take in the stunning views plus the Garfagnana area of natural beauty is easily reached too - maps and guided walks available from the local tourist information office (just a short walk from the villa). Our local city of Lucca (just 20 minutes by car) with its stunning city walls has something for everyone. Opera and contemporary music festivals take place throughout the summer months. A shoppers paradise with designer shops on via Filunga and arty jewellery shops down little sides streets. There's a huge open air antiques market (3rd weekend of the month) where you can find anything from stunning architectural sculpture to lace and jewellery. Or you could hire bicycles and cycle around the top of the medieval walls. Take a walk to the top of one of the towers and get stunning views of the red roof tops, then stroll to the piazza anfiteatro and sit at one of the cafes and soak up the fabulous atmosphere. Maybe drive the strada del vino, to sample some locally produced wine from the Monte Carlo region, on your way home. Famous cultural centres of Florence, Pisa, and Siena are all day trips you could take. You can reach them directly via public transport from the Villa or alternatively drive. There is so much to see and do - you'll struggle to fit it all into a week.
