Bright and spacious
We had booked the penthouse on a recommendation and were very impressed when we saw it for real. It is bright, spacious and well laid out with everything we needed and more. It is also immaculately clean. The crowning glory is the private roof terrace where we relaxed and dined most days. The walk to town involved descending 120 steps to the river but for those not keen on walking, there is the option of a road and a taxi home, if need be. Tavira itself is a beautiful town, with interesting places to visit and lots of cafes and restaurants. A trip on the ferry to Tavira Island is well worth it. Once past the sun worshipers congregated under the "sunbrellas", there is a vast expanse of deserted beach to wander on. A short bus run from Tavira to Cabanas is also worth doing and gives access to easy, quiet walks beyond the decked prom. There are lots of other trips that we could have done but our plan was relaxation. I'm glad we went in May, before the season hotted up. I would most definitely recommend this apartment and location.
The most amazing penthouse appartment in Tavira
This penthouse is simply the most beautiful apartment we have ever stayed in via HomeAway.
It is decorated to the highest standard , is equipped with everything you could ever need and really feels like home.
The position of the apartment in Tavira is absolutely perfect and very close to the town. However it is positioned in beautifully kept gardens and a quiet street.
The roof terrace is the best part about it, totally private, great views and very peaceful
Dulce met us at the beginning of the holiday and was very helpful. Gail's communication and attention to detail is second to none.
I would highly recommend that you try this apartment.
Thank you for your lovely review Rhona. Gives me great satisfaction to hear you were so happy with everything.
Well situated and well equipped apartment!
We had a great holiday! Loads of golf, beach walks and a lovely visit to Lisbon this time. The restaurants are a joy to walk to from the apartment.
So pleased you had a lovely time and thank you for choosing our home for your stay.
Fantastic apartment: everything you could wish for!
We really enjoyed our stay in Gail’s fantastic apartment, and we’re already missing it!!
The apartment had everything we could have wished for and more; it was bright and really spacious.
Thank you for your kind words Leah. So pleased you had a great stay as client satisfaction is the top priority. I do hope you and your family will return in the near future.
Everything you need for a great holiday
We stayed at the apartment for a week in mid September. Our flight arrived earlier than the advertised check in but we were able to get in when we arrived which was fantastic. The apartment itself has everything you could need - and the roof terrace was absolutely brilliant. We were on a golfing holiday and spending a few hours in the afternoon relaxing on the roof terrace with a cold drink was just heaven. We ate out a few times and the food choices are great and only around 10 minute walk into town but we chose to eat in quite a bit and made use of the gas BBQ. There are a few good supermarkets pretty close by but as we didn't have a car we used taxis to get our shopping which worked out well. There is also a large indoor market selling fresh fruit, veg, fish and meat/cheese etc at the far end of town (just past the ferry to the island. A trip on the ferry to the island is worth it - $2 return and the beach is lovely and quite a few places to eat on the island. Any questions or queries we had when we were away were answered quickly by Gail (who was in tavira when we were there so we managed to meet her) and the whole booking experience was simple and professional. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a holiday at this apartment - good accommodation can really make a holiday and in this case it really did!
Thank you for your lovely write up. It was great to meet you all in Tavira. My aim is for everything to run as smoothly as possible to make your holiday stress free. I am so pleased you had a great time.
This is a really lovely apartment, really well equipped. The roof terrace is great with a retractable awning for some protection. The pool is just a few steps away, and generally we found it quiet most afternoons.
There is a large supermarket a few minutes drive away, just remember to note where you parked the car in it's large underground car park.
Tavira is a lovely town but parking in the town centre can be a problem, although there are other car parks on the outskirts which are only a five minute walk away from the town centre. Walking into the town from the apartment down the steps on the opposite side of the complex is easy and takes about 15 minutes.
We would love to stay here again!
Special interest holidays:
Many people come to the Eastern Algarve to Bird Watch as the Ria Formosa is the most impressive birding site in the Algarve. Large areas of dunes, lagoons,
channels, islands, saltpans, pools and river mouths. Haven for the ornithologist.
The beaches in the Eastern Algarve are long and golden with clear, warm water. Isla de Tavira beach can be reached by a charming short boat trip from Tavira town or you can take the toy train to the unspoilt beach at Barril. There are also many other enormous, clean, sandy beaches all along the coast, as far as the Spanish border to the east, or Faro to the west, none of which are overcrowded.
Unbroken stretches of beach, with good cafes, fish restaurants and parking.
Faro airport is approximately 35km/30mins easy drive away. Airport transfers can be arranged. Car hire is available at the airport with very competitive rates, although a car is definitely not essential for the enjoyment of your holiday. If you choose to hire a car, there is ample free parking at the complex.
The historic town of Tavira is only a 5 minute walk from the penthouse. Tavira is known as "Little Venice" or the "Gem of the Eastern Algarve" because of the old bridge and the River Gilao running through the town connecting both sides with glorious palm trees. The unspoilt coastal villages of Santa Luzia, Cabanas, Cacela Velha and Fuzeta are all only 5-10 minutes drive away. The Spanish border is approximately 30km east where the Castles and delightful villages are well worth exploring.
Tavira can be explored on foot, miniature train or by horse and carriage. It has a wide selection of riverside bars, cafes and restaurants. The romantic square is ideal for a day time coffee, or on beautiful summer evenings, enjoy the open air local festivals. Excellent amenities, including supermarkets, banks, tourist office, bus station, train station and ferry point. A fabulous daily market supplying fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. There are fantastic forest walks to be found and the boat trips are certainly not to be missed. For those that enjoy a night out on the town, Monte Gordo and Ayamonte offer lots of lively bars, restaurants and even a casino. If you wish to go further afield, Seville is less than two hours drive away and provides a fabulous day out.
