About Anne Meehan / Clare Lawson (co-owners)
This apartment is co-owned by two families who have known each other for many years, one family living in Kent and the other in Hertfordshire.
Anne Meehan / Clare Lawson (co-owners) purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Anne Meehan / Clare Lawson (co-owners) chose Muo
We fell in love with Montenegro in 2006 and decided to co-purchase an apartment so that our friends and rental guests could also enjoy the delights of Kotor Bay. We believe in making sure our guests have a great time and are happy to provide information and to give advice. We love: - The view from the balcony - morning, noon or night - The sunshine - Vranac Pro Corde (great red wine for 5 euros) Our kids love: - The swimming pools - The pancakes at Zanjic beach - The way that Kotor's lights at night-time look just like the shape of a lion's head
What makes this Apartment unique
Our apartment is in the stunning Kotor Vista complex, set on the top floor so you'll get no scraping chair noises from the guests above you! It also means you have a perfect and unhindered view of Kotor Old Town from the balcony. Ours is the only apartment which has shutters, meaning that you can keep the apartment cool in the day while you are out, without having to use the air-con. So it is potentially the 'greenest' apartment in the block too! We have kitted out the apartment with all the cutlery, kitchen utensils and cooking equipment you could ever need. This combined with comfortable furnishings and accessories makes our apartment feel like a home from home.

Lovely spacious apartment. Wonderful views over the bay. Well equipped. All staff very helpful. Great pool with comfortable sun beds. 15 minutes walk to busier area. Great restaurants locally and good value for money. A bit of a walk to the shops but got a taxi home. Taxis very cheap if you get a white cab. Ivan’s boat tours were great. A bit hilly with 2 flights of steps but this was not really a problem. Think we were a bit fitter by the end of the week. Overall, beautiful place, would recommend and we will be returning.
Great apartment, beautiful location.
We stayed at Kotor Vista for 10 days from 7th May 2018. The apartment is fantastic. A spacious 2 bedroom apartment with all the amenities that you need for a self-catering holiday. There was even washing powder and dishwasher tablets provided. The place is well kept and clean. Clare, one of the owners was very good at communicating through email. She organised a taxi for us from the airport, arranged a high chair and emailed us a very comprehensive information pack on the apartment and Kotor.
The apartment is located across the end of the bay from Kotor old town and the views are spectacular. The old city walls are lit up at night, creating a beautiful reflection in the water (when there wasn’t a cruise ship in port). It took us about 20-25 minutes to walk to the old town (pushing a buggy). There aren’t any pavements for about half of the distance, but drivers generally seem to respect pedestrians.
It was great having a pool on site. I think we were early in the season so it was always very quiet. The pool was a little cold for our one year old but was very refreshing on a hot day and perfect for swimming lengths. I would expect that it gets warmer later on in the season.
There are a number of steps up to the apartment and so not suitable for disabled visitors requiring a wheel chair or with mobility problems. It was a bit of a hassle carrying the buggy up and down each day (although we were aware of this when we made the booking).
The old town of Kotor is beautiful. With plenty of narrow streets, squares and churches to explore. If you plan to climb the city walls definitely go early before it gets too hot.
We didn’t hire a car but did a few day trips using the local buses. This was easy enough even with a toddler in tow. One of our day trips was to Perast, a beautiful small town further round the bay with a picturesque chapel sitting out on an island. Small boats frequently take tourists across the short stretch of water.
We had a relaxing holiday and the apartment was a great base for exploring Montenegro.
You must visit
Lovely spacious apartment, elevated position with beautiful views. Excellent pool. Very helpful staff on site. Unfortunately quite a steep hill to climb and some steps to the area. However taxis cheap and easy to find. Quite a walk to Kotor Bay but doable as long as you are not carrying shopping. Boat trips great and wonderful scenery. Will be going back again I’m sure. Only negative, the beds were uncomfortable.
Amazing apartment and views! Definately the place to stay to explore Montenegro 🇲🇪
We're just back from an amazing 10 days in this amazing apartment. The pictures don't do it justice, the views are spectacular over the bay of Kotor. The pools are also lush! We didn't hire a car and walked every day to Kotor for shopping, sightseeing and diner. The roads initially feel a bit scary as single track but the taxis, buses and walkers have developed a mutual respect you get used to! Best restaurant being Ladovita (10 mins walk), octopus tried and tasted, head and tentacles included!! Wee shop along the road has everything, recommend bread and flatbreads for lunch (get them in the morning). Cheap travel by red taxis (which are actually white!) easy to contact n very reliable (Always agree on a price before you get in). Perast has to be seen, quaint and very pretty. Porto Montenegro another to see the lush yauchts and amazingly not too expensive to eat out! Boat trips from the pier can be organised at reception, we did the speedboat to blue cave and lady on the rock, exciting and fun! Last but definately not least is the walk up St Johns Fortress, is a must to see the most breathtaking views, we did it 7pm still hot and sweaty but took lots of water and carryout burger from local family restaurant (opposite idea supermarket), amazing!
We can honestly say it's been one of our best holidays due to the apartment, views and everything about Montenegro. Thanks so much for a fabulous stay and many wonderful memories. Juliet and family. X
The apartment was amazing with a wonderful view. Having the car we were able to see many places but I think we chose the best place.
Could not fault anything with reference to your apartment. Information was more than adequate.
Had a wonderful holiday and will definitely return.
Thank you for your review - we think Muo is an excellent base for a holiday in Montenegro and are glad you agree! Looking forward to welcoming to back to Kotor Vista again.
Special interest holidays:
As well as relaxing on the shore of beautiful Kotor Bay, absorbing the stunning mountain scenery, the area has plenty to offer to those who enjoy the great outdoors: water skiing, wake boarding, pleasure boating, fishing, snorkeling, diving, hiking, whitewater rafting and mountain biking are all close at hand. In addition, there are beautiful hilltop walks, rock climbing, parasailing and hang gliding. For those who want great night life, the nearby town of Budva provides the main action!
The apartment is a two-minute walk to the water's edge, where there is access to the water for safe swimming and fishing in Kotor Bay. Sandy beaches are within 25 minutes' drive. A day out on a boat is a fantastic experience, enabling you to visit small villages, blue grotto caves, restaurants and beaches or take in a romantic sunset. We can recommend responsible boat owners who can take you out on either a sailing or speed boat.
Muo is ideally situated for access. The apartment is 15 minutes from the local airport of Tivat, 90 minutes from Podgorica airport and 90 minutes from Dubrovnik airport in neighbouring Croatia. Montenegro Airlines flies from Gatwick to Tivat and Ryanair now flies Stansted to Podgorica. Lots of European airlines fly to Dubrovnik including BA, EasyJet, FlyBe and Aer Lingus. Car hire is recommended and available at all airports. We can help you organise airport transfers.
Muo is a the perfect base for enjoying your holiday in Montenegro. The historic walled town of Kotor is a 15-20 minute walk away and has cathedrals, yachts, cafes, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, banks and cash points. You can reach sandy beaches within 25 mins drive. The historic seaside town of Budva is around 30 minutes away and the famous Sveti Stefan island around 40 minutes away. The modern capital Podgorica is 90 minutes away and activities at Lake Skadar around 60-90 minutes.
Everyone who visits Montenegro seems to fall in love with it. There is something for everyone, whether you are looking for history, art and culture, for wild adventure or for poolside relaxation. The people are warm and friendly and have a very strong culture of family. English is reasonably widely spoken. You can spend time exploring old fishing villages or travel further afield for rafting, hiking, riding, skiing and mountain biking. Local cuisine and wine are superb and portions are generous! Montenegro uses the Euro and prices are generally 30% cheaper than you would find in Spain or Italy. There are many cafes and restaurants in which you can enjoy long, lazy meals or lively music and conversation. Within walking distance of the apartment are a number of lovely 'konobas' and tavernas. If you are looking for adventure you can kayak, jet-ski, wake board, go whitewater rafting or sailing. Or if you just want peace and relaxation, Montenegro has a lovely climate and you can chill out by the pool throughout the long, hot summer months.
Kotor Bay is a place of stunning natural beauty. It is the southern-most fjord in Europe and is a vast butterfly-shaped expanse of water surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Kotor Bay is remarkable for its wonderful coastal scenery and the many pretty villages and towns that dot the shoreline. Kotor Old Town is one of the most exquisitely preserved medieval centres in Southern Europe. The awe-inspiring 12th century city walls climb 200m up the sheer mountain face and form an impressive backdrop to Kotor's annual Venetian carnival.
