About Nicola Carruthers
We live in Scotland where the weather is not known to be great! So love every chance to escape to warmer climes. We love Portugal and the Portuguese people and have made many friends on our visits to Lagos which we now treat as a second home. We work for ourselves building our own designed properties locally and more recently have enjoyed the challenge of building our villa here in Portugal. We love exploring Europe and finding new places, traveling in our motor-home and spending as much time as possible in Lagos. I'd say we work hard and play hard...we both enjoy our outdoor sports, skiing, walking, cycling, horse riding and more recently power boating and sailing (since coming to Lagos).

Working for yourself and from home often means long hours with not a lot of chill out time. We wanted somewhere we could enjoy time and time again within easy reach of the UK and Lagos fits that bill. Someone once told us that after your third visit you'll not want to leave.. and its true Lagos certainly gets under your skin! Being able to relax and take it easy, or be as energetic as you like....it's a place for everyone from couples to families or groups of friends. The location of our apartment couldn't be better, once we arrive there's everything we need and everything's within walking distance so we can just chill out and enjoy our break. There's no better feeling than sitting on our balcony with a glass of chilled wine watching the yachts berth below.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our apartment offers one of the best views in the Marina, we wouldn't swap that for the world, the feeling you get on first arriving and opening those shutters still takes our breath away. The station is walking distance so a car is not really necessary, and supplies are easily picked up from the supermarket, only a 2 min walk away. Town is only a 10 minute stroll over the Marina footbridge and along the cobbled aveneda, and there's always space on the 5km long Meia Praia beach, again only a 10 minute walk. Location, Location, Location! We have now installed Sky Tv and Fibre Optic WIFI Connection to the apartment should you feel so comfortable there you prefer to stay home!!

Lagos Marina with friends
We had a lovely stay in this apartment, the weather could have been better but it was April. when the sun did shine we always managed to find an area on the balcony to sit out.
Its the perfect balcony to catch the sun all day and watch the boats over the Marina.
The apartment was very comfortable, the wifi was good which is a bonus and the TV had lots of English channels although we did not use it much. We did notice the lack of a dinning table and oven but the nights that were warm so we improvised and sat outside and used the patio table.
The patio chairs are tired and could do with being replaced.
The beds are very comfy but low to get out of.
We were welcomed by Emma which went fine and she presented us with food pack to keep us going until we got the supermarket which is just round the corner, perfect!
There is shower gels, soap and toilet rolls provided with is a bonus too.
This is our 2nd time to the area and we would book this apartment again even though the rent is more than similar apartments in the area.
Must be one of the best views of the marina from this apartment. Close to supermarket and an easy walk to the town.
Perfect Location, wonderful views, sunny balcony
Been to Lagos before so knew that the area was fabulous, this is the third property that we have stopped in and it didn't disappoint. So much so that we have booked again for next year. Only two of us so plenty of room in this two bed apartment, light, airy and all of the amenities that make a holiday just that bit more enjoyable. There was a heat wave whilst we were there, however the air con worked perfectly. The TV had all of the British programmes plus catch up, quite nice when you get back after a nice meal out to relax and watch your favourite programmes, lots of places to eat and some extremely reasonable. The view from the balcony over the Marina is the best feature of all though, and if the only downside are the steps up to the apartment (no lift available), it is worth the climb to see. Supermarket is literally around the corner, the town is five minutes walk away and restaurants are right on your doorstep, yes it has the lot!

My husband and I have stayed in several apartments on the marina, and this is certainly the best one by far. It's very spacious and bright with fantastic views.
We were met by Emma, who showed us round and gave us a welcome pack containing the essentials of bread, butter, milk etc., and even a bottle of wine ;).
We were apprehensive about wifi as the marina hotspot is terrible, but the owner has recently installed fibre optic, resulting in a better signal than we get at home !
There is also UK tv giving BBC and ITV, which was an unexpected bonus.
The veranda runs along both sides of the apartment, ensuring that you can find a spot in the sun from breakfast time until evening.
All in all, this place is a gem, and we very much look forward to staying again !
Fantastic location in the marina with a fantastic view.
The condo was equipped with everything you could possibly need for a vacation. It was close to the supermarket and an easy walk to the old town for shopping and dining. We really appreciated the binder with all the suggestions and local knowledge for exploring the area. The best part was the huge balcony overlooking the yachts! We would definitely stay again!
The apartment was everything we had hoped it would be with lovely views and easy access to the town. Everything that might be needed on a holiday such as cold bags, beach mats etc were thoughtfully provided. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again soon!
From Meia Praia the 5km long open sandy beach that stretches from Lagos Marina to the Alvor Estuary, to the secluded unspoilt beaches of the West Coast. Grottos and coves, miles of cliff top coastal walks, from surf dudes and kite surfers to the skinny dippers and nudists, there are beaches to cater for everyone. Many within easy walking distance and those worth travelling further afield to explore. Either family friendly or Robinson Crusoe style some of the best beaches in Europe!
Faro airport is 75km from Lagos, approx 45 min drive by motorway.
Taxi and coach transfers are available from the airport to Lagos.
Regular trains are also available from Faro itself to Lagos with the train station being located directly behind the Marina and within walking distance of the apartment.
Car hire is therefore not necessary as everything is within easy walking distance once you have arrived although a car would provide the opportunity to explore further afield if wished.
The Algarve promises a fantastic climate and year round sunshine, and as a working fishing town Lagos has something going on all year round. The historic old town with its warren of twisted cobbled streets contrasts its sophisticated restaurants with small local eating places tucked in the back of beyond. Jazz clubs, night clubs, bars, cafes, shops and boutiques all blend with the mixture of historical buildings and Moorish architecture. The streets become alive in the evenings with buskers and entertainers. Lagos has an abundance of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Fish and shellfish are popular with fish cataplanas and grilled sardines being firm favourites. Chicken piri piri is another local dish not to be missed. You'd actually struggle to find a bad restaurant here! The local wines and liqueurs are excellent, a great way to relax at the end of the day! Be it sailing, power boating, surfing, kite surfing, walking, cycling, riding, golf or just a fantastic chilled out beach location. Lagos has it all. The nearby Marina Club has a gym, luxury spa and indoor plunge pool and for a local charge guests can take advantage of these facilities, or the recently opened municipal sports centre is a few minutes walk away and has a competition sized indoor pool and large state of the art gym, classes are also available daily. Many excursions can be booked on the Marina itself i.e sailing, power boating, boat charters, dolphin safaris, big game fishing, and grotto trips. And to keep the children entertained there are also two water parks in the area, the Zoomarine where you can swim with the dolphins and Lagos Zoo with over 120 species of animals all living in their natural habitats. For drives further afield the Monchique mountains and its spa town are well worth a visit, and the stunning coastline and numerous beaches and fishing villages along the west coast all the way to Sagres with its imposing fortress. Once thought to be "the end of the world!".
Booking Notes: A £100 non returnable deposit is required at the time of booking. Balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival or by arrangement. A security deposit of £100 is required towards the cost of damages/additional cleaning due to mess left/lost keys.... this will be returned within two weeks of departure date upon satisfactory report from the management company. (we have never had a poor report yet) Changeover Day: Changeover day is flexible. The apartment will be available from 14h on arrival and should be vacated by 10h on day of departure. We will try to accommodate any reasonable variations on these timings where possible.
