Holiday Home in Mesnil Clinchamps, Calvados, Normandy, France - Set In Lovely Well Established Garden
About Eleanor Horne
We are a couple from Stoke on Trent, who fell in love with everything French, particularly the relaxed lifestyle. We have enjoyed exploring the many towns and villages, and have a keen interest in the superb architecture and splendid antique furniture.
Eleanor Horne purchased this House in 2007
Why Eleanor Horne chose Sainte-Croix-Du-Bocage
We chose this location as we had friends living in the village, and they had searched a long time before settling here, so we knew it was an ideal place.. The house itself was love at first sight. It looked so grand, and had so many beautiful features, we just couldn't believe we could own such a place. It has been a labour of love, with it's restoration on going. We hope that you will enjoy the house as much as we do.
What makes this House unique
The village is lovely, with many places in close proximity. It has a nice little bar/restaurant. Fabulous riding school across the road, called "Le Renarderie" highly recommended.
Outside house only and butts to be binned not left

This place oozes with character and charm
I don't think I've ever stayed at a VRBO with more character. As advertised this is a spacious, very old feeling house - creaky floors and all. The bedrooms are all good size and the beds pretty comfortable. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed and easy to prepare meals. The dining room, wow, great big circular room, the pictures don't do it justice. Fabulous place to have coffee in the morning. Good news on the location, it's right next to one of the major roads for Normandy and access to all of the sites including Mont Saint Michelle. The bad news, it's right next to a fairly busy highway that can be a bit noisy in the morning and during the day. The traffic volume does go down quite a bit at night though and no one in my party had issues with night noise and sleep. Also, not in the description there is a real (i.e. American) shower in the same bathroom as the big tub. We had one small maintenance issue during our stay but the property owner/manager was very responsive and the correction was made quickly.
Beautiful home set in the French countryside
This home is beautifully situated in the French countryside among rolling hills, sheep and horses. While it’s next to a busy road, it wasn’t a problem if you used ear plugs or a noise machine at night. The owners made the home very warm and cozy and our family couldn’t believe they were able to spend time in such an elegant place. My only concern is that our car had a difficult time making it through the narrow gate and because of the mud slipped and broke the mirror of our car. There is another place for cars to park off the road that makes it much easier. I still think the property deserves 5 stars because it is so well put together and anyone who stays there will surely enjoy their stay. Especially the sunny dining room.
Beautiful home near villages
We all enjoyed the stay at this house, it is decorated and furnished to a very high standard that is very in keeping with the age of the house and we loved reading in the conservatory. Handy for journeys as right by the main road. Thank you we enjoyed the stay.
