About Rose

We're a British family, lucky enough to have a second home in France. I'm a working mum, married to Simon and we've 4 teenage girls, aged 20 to 13, We've had a chalet in Argentiere for 13 years. In the winter we're all skiers / snowboarders and in the summer we hike, do mountain biking, enjoy the markets and french food.

We're active and enjoy a family life. We try to spend much of our holidays together in the mountains. The chalet is very much our home.

Rose purchased this chalet in 2000

Why Rose chose Chamonix - Mont Blanc area

We lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 4 years and travelled to all the ski areas in the vicinity. We fell in love with Argentiere and the Grands Montets ski area which was challenging with the endless off piste, ski terrain. To our great delight, we discovered that in the summer we loved mountain biking, just as much as skiing in the winter. So whatever the season we're happy in the mountains. It took us over 6 years to find our perfect chalet within easy reach of the village and also great access to the spectacular mountains and terrain around the chalet. What was particularly important for us, was that everything was accessible so that our family could go out without taking the car. Indeed as kids have grown up it's proved to be a great location.

What makes this chalet unique

The Chalet is ideally located in the quiet old village of Argentiere, close to the mountain trails, bakeries, shops, restaurants and bars. We are intermediate/expert skiers and enjoy taking cross-country ski tracks to access the Grand Montets lifts and can then ski back home via the Cremerie, a quaint rustic restaurant/bar. When our kids were smaller, we went to Les Chosalets or opted for easy family skiing at Le Tour – later two are 5 mins in car. It's close enough to ski home for lunch and return to the slopes. In the evening you can either cook together in the chalet and enjoy warmth of open fires, or head to local restaurants for savoyard specialities or perhaps pizza at a local bar. In the summer there's great walking, cycling and there are plenty of pools, lakes for a refreshing dip.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This chalet has the ‘real’ feel of being in the mountains, and part of a mountain community. A day of skiing ends with the certain knowledge of a comfortable evening- warm and refreshed – or the option of a short walk to the restaurants. A drink on the balcony in the glow of Mont Blanc is an experience to remember.

Fantastic location in Argentiere, with the possibility to ski in / out - though ski out is a little bit of work early in the morning) We found the chalet very warm, very friendly and had ample space and facilities for a large group. It would be the perfect multi family spot in either winter or summer and we will definitely recommend it and consider coming back to visit. Thanks again"

We had a lovely summer family holiday in Argentier and invited another family of five to join us and had plenty of room with two large living areas spread over four floors. We ate most of our meals on the large balcony and enjoyed soaking up the sun here. We could have stayed longer.

Car: not necessary

Travel:

It's about 75 minutes from Geneva airport. A car is not essential as the chalet is close to the village and Grands Montets ski area. There is a free local bus service between resorts in Chamonix valley. If you want to ski other resorts, like Verbier or Courmayeur. then we would recommend a car.

Distances:

It's a short walk to the village which has great bakeries, plenty of restaurants and bars. Our favourite restaurant is the Grenier, run by a local couple. They do great burgers and a menu of the day. The bakery at the top of the village is fabulous. It sells wonderful tarts as well as delicious traditional baguettes. We also recommend Le Petit Vert for dinner.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this chalet feb 2017 , a family group of 11.The chalet is spread out over 3 floors , plenty of room for all of us .It is in a great position in Argentere ,about 5/ 10 min walk to bus stop .The chalet is very rustic and homely , not too fussy just make yourself at home type of feel. The kitchen is a bit on the small side when everybodys trying to cook .but all in all a great place to stay and we had a great time !

Wonderful two week stay

  • 5 of 5

We had two fantastic weeks in this fabulous villa. The house, with its many small rooms and hideaways on three floors, was perfect for 10-12 people. With separate bathrooms on each floor there was enough privacy for everyone. The top floor was perfect for the family with two small children. We cooked almost all our meals "at home" and found everything we needed in the kitchen and had a nice area to sit in. On sunny afternoons we frequently used the veranda to have an after-ski beer in the sun. The distance to les Grand Montets was good and it was very nice to be able to ski through the forest almost all the way to the front door. Overall we are very pleased with our stay and are already planning on, if possible, returning there next year!

Very nice and comfy Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this chalet. It is well equipped, plenty of beds and enough bathrooms for everyone. Good kitchen with everything you need to cook. Spacious basement for all the ski material. Ideally located to go skiing without driving, hiking in the forest, or touring in the village of Argentière.

Highly recommend, if you are looking for a typical and comfy mountain chalet.

Great Situation

  • 4 of 5

We were absolutely delighted with this lovely chalet in Argentiere. The apartment is well appointed, beautifully maintained and feels like home the minute you walk in the door. The kitchen is fully equipped but equally there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance if you don't feel like cooking after a long day on the slopes. The view from the balcony up towards the mountain is stunning and we even enjoyed lunch outside on sunny days. The slopes are only a short drive away and there was sufficient snow to enable us (although a complicated route) to ski back home and even some days to ski out. The kids enjoyed the table tennis and the large television.
