This lovely house has all the facilities of a typical villa with the enormous advantage of being located in the centre of this enchanting small town, most villas are located way outside of any towns. The town house is a Perfect base to explore, if you don't feel comfortable don't hire a car, you're only a short cab ride to Sitges with it's main line train station, buses run direct to Sitges, Vilanova and Barcelona (not worth the stress parking and driving) from St Pere It's a practical and well-distributed town house, rebuilt in the original style of the Spanish town house, behind an old facade. Experience how it is to really live in Spain,St Pere is a real Catalan town with lots of local shops, restaurants and characters. If you want a more touristy town we are just 10 mins from Sitges, where you can find fantastic beaches, boutique shops and fine dining or better still, Vilanova. Back in St Pere you can walk to shops, local supermarkets, bakers, bus stop and typical local restaurants. A market is held every Friday. There is a local town plaza with Ice cream shop and bars where you can sit in the sun or shade whilst the children play. The square is closed to traffic from June.

About Julie Ann Plank
In 2000 my husband announced he wanted to give up work, sell up and change our lifestyle. He had worked for 20 years in direct marketing and we lived in the Cotswolds, he had always said that he spent all his spare time mowing the lawn. So we sold up and moved with our 2 children aged 8 and 12 to St Pere de Ribes. We were told in a local campsite the year before if we wanted real Spain or Catalonia we should look at St Pere. We drove in past the old casino and over the hill passing the castle and into the square and I knew this was where I wanted to live. Firstly we bought in the hills outside the town where many ex pats live however we soon realised that it is very isolated and we became taxi drivers for our children. We wanted to live in Spain but definitely not in the ex pat community.
Julie Ann Plank purchased this House in 2005
Why Julie Ann Plank chose Sant Pere de Ribes
So we sold our typical spanish villa and bought my dream house. Calle del Pi is one of the oldest streets in the town and where I always wanted to live. A house with an ordinary facade but people always go wow when they come in. We are very lucky to have a fantastic garden and pool, very rare for town centre houses. Here in St Pere our children walked into the local town, played in the plaza, learnt Spanish by buying ice creams and playing with the local children. We even spent the first years taking our empty water bottles to the local wine shops where they fill them with local red, white or sweet wine for a few euros. You can even go to the vineyard at the top of Calle del Pi. We love to sit in the square in the evening enjoying tapas and a cold beer. We can truly say we have built a life.
What makes this House unique
We shop in local shops, eat locally grown vegetables/eggs and are told about the meat we are eating and most importantly the wine we are drinking. St Pere is a very friendly Spanish market town. The main advantage this property has is that it is in the centre of town. Many villas offered are spotted in "housing estates" in the hills around the area. However you could be staying anywhere and many have few/no local amenities. You can't live in a view. There's something magical about walking down to the square for your morning cafe con leche and picking up freshly baked bread not awful pan ingles (English bread) sold in the supermarket. However you can still get English/international newspapers in the village (newsagent by the bus stop). You do need some home comforts.

Very nice stay
Very nice house in Saint Pere de Ribes. Enough restaurants within walking distance or even more just 5 km in Sitges. Barcelona just 50 min by bus. House is well equipped, has a private garden. Private pool might be too small or "heavy top-swimmers" but was enough for us to get refreshed. The house has 3 floors with a bit steep stairs - might be problem for us, but for us it was ok.
Thank you Margus.
Fabulous stay in St Pere de Ribes
Our hosts were fabulous and very helpful . We had great local food recommendations and all the info we needed. Lots of attention to detail, like milk, salt and pepper , olive oil etc was provided. The house had everything we needed and was well equipped to deal with travel needs of 2 tween boys and 2 elderly parents. The pool was perfect for some very hot days . My husband accidentally broke a sump cover and David was very understanding and helpful in sorting. Easy bus links to Barcelona , Sitges and Vilanova made it easy to explore surrounding areas without a car. We loved our stay and wished we could live here ! Thanks so much .
Excellent house in a traditional town
The house itself is clearly much-loved and very well-equipped. It is impossible to think of a kitchen utensil or item of cookware that is not provided, and our teenage sons were impressed with the wi-fi, huge number of Sky channels, films, and X box. The outdoor areas and pool are nicely landscaped and a lovely place to relax. The pool is not huge but was big enough for us and always a really nice temperature. The house is in a town with regular buses to Barcelona and Sitges, and the fare is very reasonable, especially if you use T10 tickets. We have stayed in Sitges twice before and actually preferred this location, although obviously you have to travel if you want a beach. Julie responded quickly to our initial queries about booking, and David was there to meet us and gave us a very friendly and thorough introduction to the house. The information folder provided is also extremely comprehensive and clear. It was consistently above 30 when we stayed and the bedrooms (particularly the front twin) did get very warm, though there are ceiling fans in each. It may be that we were unlucky with the prevailing breezes. Unless you desperately want a beach location and/or air con, it is unlikely you'll find a better property than this.
Lovely and charming!
We had a wonderful stay, and can highly recommend a stay at in this charming home. The house lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Clean, well maintained, and with a lovely atmosphere. Our family also especially appreciated the outdoor space, with the pool as the favourite place to hang out, close followed by the upstairs terrace. Julie and David were very helpful throuhgout our stay and gave us very useful information and tips to best enjoy the area.
The house has a great location as it is close to cafes and the main plaza, with an authentic catalan feel to it. It is a 5 minute stroll to the bus stop, which has good connections.
We had a wonderful 2 week stay, and would love to come back some time!
Typical Spanish Village House
We had a lovely stay in this fine three floor typical Spanish house, lovely bright top floor bedroom, ensuite and patio. Excellent location in the village, plenty of places within walking distance to eat or drink. Our favourite Casa Vinyet which during our stay was only open for lunch, Menu del Dia at €12.00, daily and on Saturday €16.00 you just could not better the food, menu only in Catalan but the sons can translate. Good choice of shops for self catering, dancing in the centre Friday nights. Basic knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage but not essential. Local buses into Stiges on a regular basis and The Mon Bus to and from the Airport T1, free bus transfer to T2. You do not need a car unless you want to go further afield, we managed fine without. Small Pool was a bonus on hot afternoons.
Thank you for your kind review we are delighted you enjoyed the house but more importantly St Pere de Ribes. It's important to us to show the Spain is so much more than the "Costas"
A LOVELY WEEK IN ST PERE
We stayed at the property for a week in August and had a really relaxing and lovely time. The property is superbly equipped, there was 5 of us and there was ample room. The owners have gone to every effort to make sure everything has been thought of. They provided both bath towels and beach towels, the kitchen was well stocked with condiments and everything was immaculate. The information folder is very good with plenty of tips of where to go and how to get around and where to shop. I loved the fact there is a very private sun terrace with sun loungers just off the very sumptuous master bedroom, great place to escape to with a book! The outside pool and patio are just delightful. We fell in love with St Pere, Sitges and Vilanova which has the most amazing beach and would love to return. I would highly recommend the property and its location.
Thank you so very much for your kind review. I try very hard to leave the house as I'd like to find a house. It is our home opposed to a holiday let and we are very luck to have had lovely guests.

Sitges is a small town known as the St Tropez of Spain about 40 kilometers south west of Barcelona and just 10 mins from St Pere de Ribes which is renowned worldwide for its Film Festival and Carnival. Sitges, for those who don’t know it, is a Spanish resort with a difference and a far cry from the noisy typical resorts of the Costas. It has been fashionable since the 1890s, when it became an avant-garde, art world, hang-out attracting writers, painters, intellectuals and artists as a home and inspiration for their work. Nowadays Sitges appeals to everyone from jet setters to young travellers, honeymooners to weekending families, Barcelona night owls to an international gay crowd. It benefits from a micro climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. There are 17 beautiful sandy beaches, there’s a lively nightlife if you like to party and there are lots of groovy boutiques if you need to spruce up your wardrobe as well as an impressive range of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Sitges is also renowned for it’s many Fiestas and firework displays.
Barcelona being just a short commute away from St Pere the monbus runs every 20 mins (trains leave every 10 minutes from Sitges). Sitges is a beautiful fishing village just outside of St Pere. Separated from Barcelona by the mountains of the Garraf, it is traditionally known as the Costa Dorada (golden coast). Now famous for its relaxed and liberal attitudes, it was once the haunt of the Surrealists. Picasso, Dali both had homes here, and the small town became famous for its light and colour. Now the haunt of the rich and famous of Barcelona (it styles it self as the Spanish St Tropez). The beautiful Paseo is the central promenade along the 7 beautiful beaches and through the town. Wide and spacious, and now beautifully restored the Paseo is a popular site. Close to the National Park of the Garraf for mountain biking, mountain climbing and other adventurous pursuits, St Pere is also just 45 minutes from the centre of Barcelona and Roman Tarragona. Universal Studios Port Aventura is 1 hour by car, and the Terramar Hotel offer an 18 hole professional golf course.
