The whole area is a haven for exploring on foot, with a 4x4, or indeed with your own mountain bikes, the property is located 8km from Competa and reached by a tarmac road and 1km of track. It can also be accessed from the coast up a 6km good unsurfaced road. The whole Competa/Sayalonga region is mountainous and the road winds its way up from the coast with a few steep drops. Therefore we do not recommend it for the nervous driver or people with vertigo. The house makes an ideal base for people who want to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a rural retreat but still be within easy reach of the Mediterranean sea and it's beaches.

Stunning Place, Wonderful Stay
The cabin was lovely, the location was breathtaking (mountain track and all!) and we spent a lovely and relaxing week there. Lena was very friendly and our check in was great - we were so grateful she showed us the way! We rented a Jeep and found that it coped really well with the track, but our friends in a normal car managed the trip, they just had to take it more slowly.
We'd recommend this cabin to anyone who wants complete peace - it was so quiet and tranquil. We visited the beach at Torrox Costa and at Algorrobo Costa - love Rompeolas, the Chiringuito (beach club/restaurant/bar) at Algorrobo Costa. The market there is small but has a bit of everything.
All in all a great week, we loved relaxing by the pool and also on the massive terrace.
We hope to be back!
The pictures are old
Just all a bit tired and run down. If you are not very tall you might not be able to see the sea as the trees and bushes need trimming back.
Oh dear, you would only have had to call us and we would have come up and trimmed the bushes and trees for you. They had obviously shot up in the last couple of weeks since the previous review!
The majority of the photos were taken less than 2 years ago, and as you can see from guests that came in December and left this review, they enjoyed the views too!

Lena was so helpful and friendly showing us to the cabin, and rightly told us to buy in supplies as it's remote location puts it away from shops - just what we wanted. The views are stunning and we often caught a glimpse of Morocco in the foreground of beautiful sunsets. The house is beautiful and built by themselves which made it extra special. We got well acquainted with the neighbours dog who was so friendly and will miss her too! The property is remote, but we manage just fine even without a car, and got very fit walking to Competa or down to the beach! We can't recommend this enough, having walked away with lovely sun tans in the midst of February. Will miss picking orange and lemons to make our home made lemonade and sangria! So sad to leave the cabin, but we'll be back soon!
As they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time!
Peaceful cabin set in stunning surroundings.
Great few days at the cabin, superb friendly & informative hosts.
The views from the deck are amazing and well worth the drive from the main road.
I strongly recommend a visit for a truely tranquil break.
Encore merci mille fois!!
Lovely mountain cottage.
All in all a wonderful Place, even though I wouldn't recommend the Place to anyone unused to driving in small and steep roads. Really nice pool, much better than the images imply, fabulous view and many beds in an otherwise quite small house.
Special interest holidays:
The whole of the surrounding countryside and the nearby Alpujarra mountain range give an opportunity to get off the beaten track and explore the truly stunning scenery. There are very few places left in Europe that one can really get away from the everyday tourist but this is one of them. For the 4 x 4 enthusiast a truly unique area where you can still use your vehicle to explore stunning mountainous areas.
