About Louise Kay

I am English and have lived in the UK for the past 14 years, having previously lived and worked overseas for over 20 years in East Africa, the Middle East and South America. We visited Mallorca for the first time in 2003, toured the entire island and fell in love with the relatively unspoilt and more tranquil north of the Island with its spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. We purchased our villa in 2003 and it has become a second home for all of us, including our 5 boys and their wives/girlfriends, as we spend most of our family holidays there and always have a wonderfully relaxing and fun time. Especially enjoyable are the evenings spent out on the terrace, all the family round the table, a home-made paella, some good local vino and lots of banter!

Louise Kay purchased this villa in 2003

Why Louise Kay chose Alcúdia

We chose the popular area of Alcanada in the north of Mallorca because of its spectacular coastal and mountain scenery and because it is relatively quiet and unspoilt, yet within minutes, you can be in the centre of the popular holiday resort of Alcudia with all its attractions, endless stretch of sandy beaches, up-market yacht marina, lovely boutiques and fun-filled nightlife! We love the fact that its so easy to hop on the plane, (just a 2 hour flight London/Palma) and within a few hours be out on the terrace enjoying the spectacular views over the Bay and the mountains beyond. Over the past 12 years, we have enjoyed many an evening wandering around the tiny cobbled streets of the Old Town of Alcudia close by and dining in some of the finest restaurants in the north of the Island.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is just a 5 minute walk from the picturesque little beach and beach-bar in Alcanada, ideal for children. For keen golfers, the prestigious Alcanada Golf Club is just 1.5 kms away with its challenging 18 hole course right by the sea, overlooking Aucanada Island and its famous lighthouse. Cyclists can enjoy the challenge of the steep and stunning mountain scenery all around this area. Water sport enthusiasts can take advantage of the amazing sailing, water-skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities nearby. The Old Town of Alcudia is 3 kms away & holds a local market there Sundays & Tuesdays.

For those wanting a more lazy holiday, there is a 5m x 3.5 m private pool at the villa. The fully equipped kitchen means entertaining at home out on the terrace overlooking the pool & sea is easy, relaxed & fun!

"A superbly equipped villa with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday, a real home from home in fact! Fantastic location, stunning views and such a beautiful area. We all had an amazing time and want to come back next year!"

"The villa was so clean and welcoming and lived up to all our expectations! We loved relaxing on the terrace, glass of wine in hand, watching the boats sail past, whilst the kids had so much fun in the pool. Many thanks for a memorable holiday in your lovely home and we'll definitely recommend it 100% to friends."

Great property and location in quiet area with fantastic views

  • 5 of 5

The villa is great and the photos don’t really do it justice as it is bigger than expected. It was very well equipped and nothing was overlooked. We found the bed a little hard but that may be down to preference . Towels and bedding provided and overall the villa was very clean. The pool and terraces were great places to relax. The views of the sea and bay were fantastic. It is situated in an elevated position so there is a bit of a climb back from the beach and town . We loved the local beach and cafe, perfect for watching the boats pass by. Restaurant 35 is the nearest place to eat and it is highly recommended, we eat there twice. The port is around a 15 minute walk , we mostly walked everywhere but also used taxis which were reasonable . There is a bus service from Alcanada which is opposite the La Terraza restaurant which can take you to the old town ( not frequent but worth knowing ) . Louise the owner and her property management team in Alcúdia were very helpful throughout our stay so you can be rest assured that support and help is available if needed. I can’t recommend this villa any more than giving it a 5 star rating .

Lovely spacious villa in quite suburb

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Casa Es Mirador. The villa is well equipped spacious and has a relaxing feeling as soon as you come through the door, like a home from home. The pool which whist not big is very adequate and is a welcome relief from the heat we experienced when at the Villa (34-37C) 15 minutes into Alcanda is the Spa, don't rely on it for a extensive shop. If you want to do a big shop there is a good range of supermarkets in Alcudia the nearest being a Bip Bip (15 /20 minute walk). I would recommend Restaurant 35, just a 5 minute walk from the Villa.Excellent food and excellent service from Bernard and his staff .There is also the beach bar near the Spa that does drink and a range of basic foods, the location is stunning and La Terezza is just next door. here is a wide range of restaurants and drink establishments in Alcudia itself. Overall a great stay.

Great place to relax & use as a base to explore the island!

  • 5 of 5

Louise's house was great, it is exactly as described and was perfect for a family holiday (4 adults & 2 children). Having the private pool was brilliant for the kids and it helped build their water confidence whilst we were away which I don't think we'd have achieved in a hotel. The location is good for exploring and I would highly recommend hiring a car to go out and about, Majorca is a beautiful island. Louise's communication throughout the whole process was exceptional and any questions we had both before and during the holiday were answered quickly. Would highly recommend this villa for a lovely Majorca holiday!

Lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

We spent the first week of July here. The villa is indeed spacious and well equipped. We couldn’t fault anything. We found the villa and pool exactly as described on here. We had a fab holiday! Lovely views of the sea and over the coastline. Within walking distance of the sea (up and down lots of steps and one steep road but well worth it!) Alcúdia port and local restaurants and shop (we enjoyed our daily walk to the Spar shop) We didn’t hire a car. We took a couple of taxis to the supermarket in Alcúdia at the beginning of the week then topped up daily at the Spar. We walked to the port for a couple of suppers and to a local restaurant. So all in all great location, great accommodation, great communication from Louise (owner) pre, during and post our visit. I’d book again! Thanks Louise!

Homely feel, near to a lovely small beach and beach bar and also only a 15 minute walk to the marina and main beach at Alcudia. Pool is small but deep - was much enjoyed.

Louise was attentive to our needs and gave lots of invaluable info about our stay

Further Details:

Mallorca gets around 300 days of sunshine a year on avarage.

The Port and Old Town of Alcudia are predominantly pedestrianised areas and open all year round, with walkers, cyclists, golfers and bird watchers taking over from the tourists during the cooler months. Many an hour can be spent strolling around, exploring the wonderful variety of local shops from mouth-watering delicatessens, bakeries, fishmongers and local wine retailers to the beautiful clothes boutiques, gift shops and art galleries, or just sitting, watching the world go by whilst enjoying your cerveza, vino and tapas in a local bar! The Old Town is built on the ruins of the ancient Roman capital of Mallorca and excavations are a local feature. It also hosts a fantastic market every Sunday and Tuesday. During the summer months, all along the walkway in the yacht marina, you will find a host of stall holders and artists, selling a wonderful variety of crafts, jewellry, paintings, clothes, toys, etc. There are lots of childrens' attractions in the Port area and an immensely popular Aqua-Park closeby! The Caves of Campanet are a must-see for all ages and less than a 30 minute drive away. There are many cultural/musical events and festivals that take place locally and around the Island throughout the year. The Fiesta de San Pedro del Puerto de Alcudia takes place locally at the end of June and Fiesta de San Jaime de Alcudia end July. There is a taxi rank in the Port and a regular bus service. The closest large supermarket in the area is Mercadona, which is to be found next to the petrol station in old Alcudia, just a 5 minute drive away. There is a hospital in Alcudia, a 10 minute drive away from the villa for any medical emergencies. NB make sure you all take your European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) with you for free medical care.
