About Chris Smith
We originally purchased Church House Barn as a derelict shell in 2005. We spent the next 3 years converting it, trying to retain as much of the original building as possible. Parts of the barn date from 17th century and it is built on the ramparts of the settlement of Richards Castle in the grounds of the old Church House. Having stayed in several holiday cottages ourselves, we knew what we wanted -somewhere cosy and comfortable with all the necessary equipment and furnishings to make it feel like a real home - not simply a rental property. We hope you like it. Chris & Liz Smith

Well equipped, designed and fulfilling.
A superb cottage to hire with a very large garden with hammock! The inside is furnished well with all requirements met. The welcome pack was very well received. It is set in a very peaceful area. Overall a very nice place to stay with young children (6 + 9).
Thank you Dorian. Thanks a really lovely review. We’re pleased you enjoyed your time at the barn. It’s a pleasure to have guests like you and your family. We’d be pleased to welcome you back at anytime. Many thanks. Chris & Liz
A comfortable holiday house
This was a comfortable and very clean holiday house in a good position for exploring the local area. It was mostly well equipped and had been tastefully furnished. A hairdryer would have been nice and also a separate DVD player to go with the tv downstairs.
Thank you for your review. We do provide a full list of all the barn's equipment in the facilities section of our web site.
We would always encourage guests to check with us first if they require a particular item that is not listed. I trust the absence of a hairdryer and second DVD player did not spoil your stay.
Lovely barn similar to one we lived in. Perfect location and weather
We met friends here & hadn't explored the area previously. Wow we were so happy with our choice. The barn was perfect, extremely well equipped with lovely décor etc. It was soooooo peaceful and the beds very comfortable.
Great welcome from the owners who were also extremely helpful with advice for exploring/walks & Restaurants. We will certainly return! Thank you again Chris & Liz
Really glad you enjoyed your few days at the barn. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like to stay again.
