Secluded and peaceful yet with easy access for sightseeing. Panoramic views.
The two apartments described below are part of the beautiful peaceful hamlet of Peralta, located in a spectacular setting in the Tuscan hills that rise high above the valley of Camaiore. With stunning, panoramic views over the valley to the hills and sea beyond and surrounded by terraces of olive groves, its stone walls covered with purple bougainvilleas, lemon trees, jasmine, Peralta seems like paradise, a place for people seeking tranquility and beauty. There is a swimming pool on an upper terrace with a panoramic view towards the sea. The large terrace in front of Peralta is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine, enjoy the sunsets and meet other guests.
The hamlet was restored with great love and imagination by international sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. She created a place that is quite unique and very inspiring for anyone with creative tendancies. Peralta was Fiore's home up to her death in June 2004, and one can see her work all through the hamlet. Her sculpture everywhere, and the manner in which she restored and designed the hamlet give it very special atmosphere and character.
We are surrounded by lovely walking country with marked trails through the olive groves and hills dense with chestnut trees and known for their wild flowers in spring and autumn. Walks range from 50 minutes to a delightful restaurant in an adjoining village, to three hours up to the peak of the Mount Prana above Peralta.
Peralta offers various self catering accommodation sleeping from 2 to 8 and 4 additional bedrooms with bathrooms. As described more fully further down the page, the whole hamlet sleeps 30 or so and can be booked in its entirety for parties. Many a family party or important birthday has been celebrated here!
A previous guest offered this description of Peralta :
'The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff have a rare quality of being there but conspicuously absent unless needed. This adds to the calm of the place, giving a feel of personal space and privacy. It has a sense of a well-run hotel, without the formality, and the ambiance of a private villa without the expense. I was fortunate to have cast an eye over a few of the other properties available; all are very well appointed and would not fail to please.
Whether you’re wanting to collect your thoughts, relax, explore the region, write a novel, or paint a masterpiece this has to be the place to visit.'

Why Kate or Dinah chose Camaiore
Intenrational sculptor Fiore de Henriquez lived in the area of Camaiore due to its proximity to the Carrara marble quarries and the bronze foundries of nearby Pietrasanta. In the 1970's she found the small hamlet of Peralta, perched on the hillside above Camaiore. It was remote, served only by a footpath, and the buildings were mainly in ruins - their inhabitants having left in the mid 1950's due to the hard living in the hills. No water nor electricity at this time. Fiore fell in love with the hamlet and managed to gradually buy the various houses. She then set about restoring them and the hamlet and created the very unique place that exists today. She died in 2004 and the hamlet was then taken over by a very good friend who owns it today. Repairs and renovations are undertaken where necessary, but the essential essence of the hamlet remains the same as when Fiore was alive. It is the home of her archive and sculptures, which can be seen throughout the grounds and in the various accommodation.
What makes this Apartment unique
It is hard to describe the absolute charm and beauty of Peralta and why I am so passionate about it. I now own it and am as much in love with it as Fiore before me. Every corner has its surprises, small details to delight the eye. The wisterias and bougainvilleas offer vibrant colour and essential shade. The views are wonderful, changing with the light, with the weather, with the season. Sunsets are magic. Early morning mist lying in the valley. The sight of Corsica on a clear day. The large bronze sculpture of 'The Phoenix' on the main terrace about to fly off over the valley. Fiore used to say it signifies 'Peralta rising from the ashes'. The many sculptures Fiore left for visitors to enjoy on the terraces. Her private gallery which I love to show to guests and one evening a week, at aperitivo time, I invite any guests staying at Peralta to a viewing of the gallery and Fiore's original house I hope many visitors will find their way to Peralta and enjoy it as much I do ......... possibly even fall in love with it! I was looking for a romantic destination with Tuscan charm and in a beautiful countryside setting and Peralta did not disappoint. This property was even more than I had hoped for. Stunning views and a wonderful staff. Dinah, Kate, and Christopher were so helpful and friendly. They were always there if we needed something yet we had plenty of privacy. When we needed to extend our stay on short-notice, they were very accommodating.
Peralta is a 25 minute walk to the small village of Pieve where we enjoyed delicious food with great service and a 45 minute walk from Camaiore full of friendly locals.
We loved this place and plan to return next year!
A touch of Tuscany heaven.
Gemelli is absolutely enchanting, full of Tuscany charisma, perfect for couples. The room's were clean and comfortable, with outstanding veiws, and lemon and olive trees which surround the apartment and patio. Peralta is overflowing with local culture from artist, writers and sculptors which you can enjoy as you walk down to the local shop and restaurants through the woodland mountain Which delivers spectacular veiws that reach out to the sea.

Incredible stay at beautiful Peralta
My girlfriend and I spent a week at Peralta Tuscany in September 2016 and had an absolutely magical time. It is a special place.
We stayed in Gemelli, a self-catering apartment with breath-taking views across the valley below and out over Peralta's main large terrace. Gemelli comprised a good sized bedroom with a comfy good sized bed and en suite, a small kitchen, living space with wood burner and arms chairs and even our own private terrace - perfect spot for a morning espresso!
We absolutely loved Peralta with it's traditional rustic Tuscan feel. There are so many charming nooks, crannies and pathways it feels there is always a private spot to read a book or simply take in the views. The pool area is great, located at the top of Peralta it is the perfect place to watch sunset.
We also visited Pietra Santa and Lucca nearby which we really enjoyed, both well worth a day trip.
We could not recommend Peralta highly enough and will be back!
wonderful holiday - amazing setting, quiet and idyllic, off the beaten track.
this beautiful hamlet is private, quiet and in the most gorgeous setting. the pool is situated on an elevated plateau with a stunning view, plenty of space to sunbathe and relax. the pool is quite small but deep and very refreshing.
the accommodation is as described - rustic and charming, clean and well-maintained, good service was provided.
the approach to the hamlet is a challenge - a very steep and winding road; for the faint-hearted there is small car park and the staff will take you up the last few hairpin bends.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Peralta. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful hamlet and hope very much you will return one day. We are planning to widen the last bit of the road as much as possible so as to make the access less of a challenge for our guests who have large cars (small cars have no problem).

Fabulous 60th birthday weekend
We had 30 friends and family from all over the world join us in September for a big birthday celebration. We had never been to Peralta before so we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. It all turned out better than we could have dreamed!
We booked out the whole hamlet and were delighted with the accommodation - rustic chic, wonderful views and decorated with gorgeous objets d'art.
We stayed for 3 nights and used a combination of external caterers, internal self catering and also walked out to a wonderful local restaurant for the birthday lunch. Everything was delicious and very professional. And best of all it was easy! Kate (the manager) could not have been more obliging or more helpful.
We would highly recommend Peralta to anyone - but especially for this sort of gathering of friends and family.
Heaven in Tuscany
I first came to Peralta several years ago with my father for a birthday party and have been coming back each summer ever since with my wife, my sister, my friends... That says it all, now I can't imagine spending a summer without going to Peralta. The place is absolutly beautiful, the people are so friendly it feels like family. I surely recommend this place to everybody.
Peralta is a hillside hamlet situated in the northern part of Tuscany, on the slopes of the Alpi Apuane (national park), 10 min from the market town of Camaiore which, in turn, is 10 min inland from the coast.
Lucca is a 35 min drive to the south.
The A12/A11 autoroute exit is 20 min, making day trips to Siena (2 h), Carrara & its marble mines (45 min) very easy.
You can drive into the Carrara mountains - or go to the beach - the closest is Viareggio, the most popular Forte dei Marmi (35 min or so). The Cinque Terre are one hour away - one can drive to La Spezia or Porto Venere and visit them by boat - the ferry service is frequent.
Shopping in the area (Lucca/Florence/Forte dei Marmi) is legendary! The sculptors' town of Pietrasanta is only 20 min away.
Peralta is Ideally situated for the Puccini Festival (40 min away). Open air opera Festival taking place in July and August at Torre del Lago.
We have a mountain of information and suggestions for our guests, including directions for walks, when and where local markets happen, brocante markets,' must visit' places and restaurants, our favourite mountain drive, etc etc
Peralta feels wonderfully remote and secluded and yet is, in fact, very accessible.
In the daytime, there is always someone on site to help with all inquiries regarding day trips, ferry times, advice on this and that.
