Winding along the road between Restábal and Pinos del Valle, with its picturesque views, you will find the track to Casa Viñas de Vera, a country house nestling in the hillside. The property is surrounded by its own olive and citrus trees with stunning views across the valley. The house has been lovingly rebuilt from an old ruin and still retains some of the original features. That said, the property is light and spacious, with an open plan living area downstairs, a large, spiral staircase leading up to two of the four bedrooms and a huge roof terrace for enjoying a sun-downer or two while taking in those amazing views. The house is comfortably and tastefully furnished and has everything required for a relaxing and enjoyable stay all year round. With plenty of outdoor terraces, sun loungers and large swimming pool you will hardly need to leave the property, however the area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and sightseers. The beaches, Granada and the Alhambra are all within 30 mins.

House in Restabal, Lecrin Valley, Granada, Spain - Incredible Views Over the Lecrin Valley

Sandy, my husband, and I split our time between the beautiful Lecrin Valley and our home in south east England. My husband runs his own company in the UK but is lucky enough to be able to work from Spain via the internet for much of the time. I spend my days studying for a degree in modern languages through the OU and the rest of the time I try to keep our garden and our 300 trees in check. We have two grown-up children, one an actor, the other a dancer and they love to join us in the Valley whenever they can. We have made some great friends in the area and have fallen in love with our village and its inhabitants.
Louise purchased this House in 2004
Why Louise chose El Valle
We discovered the Lecrin Valley almost by accident when we went on a fact-finding mission in 2003. We had decided we wanted to live 1/2 way between Granada and the coast as it would give us the best of both worlds - beautiful mountain views, easy access to beaches and the cultural city of Granada, plus there was the bonus of being only 45 minutes from the Sierra Nevada for skiing in the winter. The valley is off the beaten track and still quite undiscovered. It is the chance to see Spain as it has been for hundreds of years. Some of the locals still set off in the morning on their mules to farm their land and the pace of life is somewhat slower than elsewhere in the country. The natural beauty and the open, friendly people have won our hearts and keep us coming back for more.
What makes this House unique
We have rebuilt the house from an old ruin and have included everything we feel is necessary for a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The house is just 1km from the village so it is peaceful and remote but within easy access of all the local amenities. Restabal is home to Bar Jovi and Meson Despensa, considered by some to be the best restaurant in the valley but if you prefer to eat in there are two good shops in the village. We are incredibly fortunate to have the region's only Thai restaurant, the Thai Elephant, just a short walk down the hill. We can also give details of caterers who will deliver dinner to your door! The stunning views are central to the appeal of our house and the large pool is fantastic for cooling off in summer. The house generates its own power, however the system is set up to cope with the normal use of a large family and is therefore often more reliable than the mains!

Louise and Sandy's house is simply the perfect holiday retreat. Relaxing in a hammock hung between a lemon and olive tree with a backdrop of a beautiful pool, an array of flowers, an orange and lemon grove, mountain views, and the sound of cicadas is my idea of bliss. There's also a ping-pong table in the garden for a bit of fun. The house itself is secluded, well designed, tastefully decorated, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The mountain and valley view from the upstairs double-bedroom and terrace is stunning. The house was hard to leave, but it was the perfect base for easy drives to the pretty villages of the Alpujarras, the fabulous city of Granada, and the Costa Tropical. To top it all, Louise and Sandy were perfect hosts. We very much hope to return!
Thank you for your wonderful comments. We love our house and the area and it makes our hearts sing to hear that others enjoy it as much as we do. We make every effort to make our guests feel welcome and it's encouraging to know that it's working!
We hope to meet you again sometime soon.

Beautiful property and setting
What a peaceful place! We loved the house and gardens which suited our party of 7 perfectly. Well equipped and spacious. Louise & Sandy couldn't have been more attentive with plenty of suggestions of things to do. Being 'off grid' there were some issues with the electricity supply but again, the owners were very quick to react to our call. I would definitely recommend this property.
Great holiday and a beautiful home in Andalusia
Thanks to Louise and Sandy for providing such a friendly welcome when we arrived at the villa. We loved your house, the tranquility and beautiful scenery of the Valle de Lecrín. The people were so friendly and we enjoyed sampling the tapas in the bars and restaurants of the villages around the valley - a real treat. As a family we loved your house, it’s facilities and the fabulous garden area and large pool. We enjoyed harvesting figs and almonds for some healthy breakfasts, picking lemons and making some cold lemonade to quench our thirst (while not sampling the local beer) relaxing by the pool. We had a great time and couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks also for being on the end of the phone to help us out when we needed you - great service!
Beautiful villa in a scenic, relaxing location
We stayed at this villa in August 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. The villa is beautiful and the photos don't do it justice. Both the villa and the pool are bigger than they look and the view of the mountains was breath taking.
On arrival Sandy and Louise were very friendly and extremely helpful. They provided a welcome pack that was useful in planning our stay and had so much needed information. Any issues we had were quickly sorted and it is evident that the enjoyment of guests are important to them.
The pool was checked/cleaned throughout our stay by a lovely man named Keith who was extremely friendly and provided us with useful information about the villa and local area.
A car is essential to get the most out of your trip. We enjoyed visiting the local lakes and a restaurant in a nearby village (Melegis) called Restaurante los Naranjos.
We simply cannot praise the villa and Sandy and Louise enough. We had a delightful stay and hope to visit again soon.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was an absolute pleasure to have you as guests. We are always thrilled to hear that people enjoy the place as much as we do. Come back soon! 😊 xx
A beautiful property with a fantastic pool area set amidst a lemon and orange grove. We lay by the pool watching an eagle soar above the nearby hills, silhouetted against a clear blue sky. The owners Louise and Sandy were extremely helpful and clearly care about their guests. Hoping to return soon.
Thanks so much for your kind words. It means a lot to us that our guests enjoy the house and the area as much as we do. You're welcome back anytime. 😊
Peaceful setting yet close to many places of interest
We had a very relaxing and comfortable week at Sandy and Louise's beautiful home. The house is very well equipped, spacious and tastefully decorated. There are great views from the upper floors which were fabulous to wake up to and the dining terrace and grounds around the pool are beautiful with many shady areas to cool down in. There is plenty to do in the surrounding areas and a visit to the Alhambra Palaces and the white villages of the Alpujarras are a must. We didn't eat out at all (our daughter is vegan which drastically limits our choice of restaurant!) but there were plenty of recommendations in the guest book and I can vouch for a fantastically well equpped kitchen, we especially enjoyed the never ending supply of oranges, lemons and fresh herbs from the garden.
Many thanks, Jane, for your great review. It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family. It is important to us that the house and the area meet our guests' expectations so we're really happy to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back sometime in the future. - Louise.
