Cottage in Stow-on-the-Wold, Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, England - Quiet Location with Private Parking, just 2 Minutes from the Market Square
We fell in love with the Cotswold's and Stow in our twenties and after many visits, bought Honey Cottage and then Farthing Cottage. Both cottages are very special to us and we get a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from people enjoying a holiday in our cottages and reading the lovely comments that are left by guests. Most of our holidays are taken in the UK either in Honey or Farthing Cottage or in other self-catering properties if we want a change of scenery! We are both very 'passionate' about self-catering and huge lovers of the Cotswold's as it suits our huge desire to eat, cycle and walk. Not forgetting sitting in front of the fire with a nice glass of red! We hope you enjoy staying in our cottages as much as we do and will do everything we can to make your stay enjoyable

What makes this Cottage unique
We fell in love with Farthing Cottage from the moment we stepped through the front door and saw the abundance of beams, stone floors, fireplace and chunky Cotswolds stone walls. It is surprisingly spacious for a one bed property with a lovely large bedroom upstairs with vaulted ceiling (and more beams!) that add to the lovely sense of space, plus it has a garden to relax and off-road parking which is fairly rare in Stow. It offers the best of all worlds - a magical place where you can relax right in the heart of one of the Cotswolds most popular towns with everything on the doorstep.

An excellent short break
We shall hope to revisit this property in the future.
Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
Excellent location and within walking to town. Secluded although a bit hard to find. I would suggest a drive through on google map street view. The street itself is not marked and extremely narrow. The accommodation is exactly as advertised and the perfect size for two.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Farthing Cottage. The location was one of the main things that attracted us to Farthing Cottage. You feel like you are tucked away in a quiet residential street, yet just a couple of minutes stroll from all the shops and eateries of the town - best of both worlds (especially with off-road parking)! With so much countryside to explore by foot from the front door, we have lots of guests stay at the cottage and enjoy a taste of Cotswolds life without using a car. Farthing Cottage is perfect for those, like yourself, who arrive by public transport being only apx 1 1/2 hours by train from Moreton in Marsh to Paddington. I hope you enjoyed your 'tour of the Cotswolds' with The Original Cotswold Travel Company - I would imagine it was a great way to see all the best bits if you are short of time. I hope we are able to welcome you back to Farthing Cottage again sometime in the future and hope the rest of your trip was as enjoyable.
Cosy, well equipped, comfotable
Thanks for the lovely review Clive and really pleased you enjoyed your stay. Much appreciate you leaving the cottage so nicely and for your thoughtful touches for the housekeeper - many thanks and happy new year.
Perfect little getaway
The process to hire was really easy, and the owner very thorough with details of both the cottage and things to do. The cottage was super close to the town (few minutes walk), but but lovely and quiet down a little lane with no through traffic. The cottage itself was well equipped, although we went in winter and didn’t get to use the garden. Only downside was that where we’d had heavy rain the wood kindly left for the wood burner was too wet to use on the first night, and there was no kindling so we had to buy some, but very easy to get locally. Also the shower room is downstairs off the kitchen but not an issue as only a small cottage. The bedroom was a lovely size, and bed very comfortable. Would recommend this property.
Hi Louise, I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at Farthing Cottage. Sorry the kindling had run out. We do try to leave a supply in the cottage (along with matches and firelighters) but do not advertise this or include it within the rental because we do not like to disappoint and cannot always guarantee they will be there. We try to keep a good stack of logs in the garden in the winter months so that guests can purchase them on an honesty basis should they wish but on the odd occasion, if the wind has blown the cover or they have not been covered back up, they can get damp. Thankfully, there are a number of places within strolling distance in town to purchase nice dry kindling and logs should this happen and a basket to bring logs inside the cottage to dry.
We look forward to welcoming you back again at Farthing Cottage again in the future.
The perfect getaway
The pictures don't do this cottage justice! It was perfectly idyllic and super cosy, great for the chilly weather. Lots of amazing scenery and walks nearby. The food in the pubs and local shops was top quality. The longer you stay the more you won't want to leave. Great value for money, the owner had thought of everything you might want or need.
really nice and very quiet, the 4 poster bed was so comfortable, that is important as a poor sleep can mar an otherwise nice break. did us both the world of good, can thoroughly recommend, well satisfied.
Heathrow airport is under two hours drive (approx). Birmingham airport is just under one hour drive.
Stow is surrounded by a number of pretty villages. Broadwell, Bleddington, Oddington, The Slaughters and even Boughton-on-the-Water are within walking distance. Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton are approximately 10 minutes drive and Chipping Campden and Burford are approx 20 minutes. Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham are approx 45 minutes drive, Oxford is approx one hour and Bath around one and a half hours.
You have an excellent selection of small shops within walking distance of the cottage including a bakers, Co-op store, wine merchants, excellent butchers, organic store, two delicatessen's, chemist, banks, book shop, newsagents, Fat Face, Rohans, Scotts of Stow and even a Tesco superstore (on the outskirts of town and a short stroll).
