Perfect location 5 minutes from the beautiful Baroque city of Lecce. Situated in the Salento peninsula, famed for its excellent wine and olive oil, we are just 15 minutes drive from the sandy beaches and crystal clear seas of the Ionian and Adriatic and 30 minutes from Brindisi airport. The apartment is in a small peaceful residential complex just a few minutes walk from an excellent supermarket with fresh daily produce (fish, vegetables, cheeses, bread) and a very good restaurant and pizzeria providing typical local food (English spoken). Monteroni is a small market town and has a pretty Baroque square and weekly open market in the piazza. Easy access to Brindisi, the Trulli area, Gallipoli and Otranto.

About susan arculus
I am an English lecturer in the nearby University of Salento and purchased the apartment in 2009. We have tried to make it as welcoming as possible for people who come to stay, family included, and you will be welcomed by us and find basics like tea and coffee in the property. We also provide some local produce including extra virgin olive oil, our own lemons and olives and a bottle of the excellent local red wine. I am married to an Italian and have been living in this beautiful part of Southern Italy for 30 years. The coastline is wonderful and Salento is an ideal place to visit at any time of the year. The nearest sandy beach at Porto Cesareo is just 15 minutes away. We provide tourist information and maps of the area and are always on hand for any problems as we live close by.

Susan and Corrado are excellent hosts and met us when we arrived at the apartment. The apartment was lovely and clean and was well fitted out.
There are two local supermarkets with a good range of foods so we did quite a bit of home cooking.
The location is great for nipping into Lecce and is central for visiting the local towns and beaches. We loved Porto Cesareo and the beach at Torre Lapillo.
Other places we enjoyed were Ottranto, Galatina and Gallipoli. We went via Ostuni to Alberobello which is a wonderful trulli town.
Thanks so much. It was a pleasure to meet you both.
A well cared for and secure property
We arrived easily from the airport thanks to the excellent directions we had been sent. Corrado met us and explained how everything worked. He was very charming and helpful and an earlier conversation with his wife, Sue, who had been holidaying in Scotland, had also been useful in giving us local information.
The apartment was very comfortable and as described and proved to be in a very convenient location for touring Salento. The provided maps, guidebooks and information sheets helped us to get the most out this lovely area. We did, however, get lost on foot in Monteroni!
We appreciated the wonderful food and drink items that were left for us, especially enjoying the bowl of fresh fruit and the basil from Corrado's garden. It was a thoughtful touch to provide so many delicious items and they eased our catering arrangements after a very early start from the UK on a Sunday. Even items such as olive oil, tea, coffee, sugar and washing up liquid were provided.
The apartment was very well equipped throughout even down to the provision of beach towels and an umbrella. We had very hot weather so we made several trips to local beaches, after morning sightseeing. We particularly liked Torre Lapillo as we could park, for free, in the side roads leading to the beach.
During the week we explored much of this beautiful area with a long drive down the Adriatic coast, via Otranto, to Marina di Leuca, visits to Gallipoli and Galatina and, of course, time spent in Lecce. The parking hint for Lecce in the typed notes was excellent.
We would certainly recommend this apartment as a base for a holiday in this area. You will be assured of a warm welcome and will find everything you need for a comfortable stay in a clean and spacious apartment.
Many thanks to Sue and Corrado for being such great hosts.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Salento and look forward to seeing you again. Next time, we'll endeavour to provide you with a better street map of Monteroni!
A truly lovely apartment
The apartment is well equipped even down to an expresso coffee pot! Comfortable beds, will sleep four in comfort. It is very convenient for either a beach holiday or for exploring the many historic towns in the beautiful area of Puglia. Lecce is only 15 minutes away. This is our forth visit and every time we find yet another beautiful place to explore. We will definitely be there again next year.
20km to Ionian and Adriatic Seas, good roads. There are dozens of beautiful sandy beaches that can be reached in 20 minutes.
Brindisi 45km on motorway 30 minutes. Bari 155km on motorway.
Lecce 4km. Gallipoli 35km. Otranto 40km.
This area is perfect for those people who are interested in both a beach holiday and history and art. The quiet location of the apartment, only a couple of kilometres from the Lecce bypass, means that it is within easy reach of both the Ionian and Adriatic Seas. British owner lives nearby.
