Apartment in Kotor Old Town, Montenegro - Innside the walls on a peaceful square by the north gate

Renovated & luxurious 3-bedrom apartment (116 m2) on the first floor available for let. It has 2 bathrooms and sleeps 7 or 9.

Situated in a quiet, yet central part inside the walls of Kotor. Overlooking a lovely square and with views to the hilltop fortress. Although the place is in a relaxed part of the city it is only 2-3 minutes of leisurly stroll around a few corners and down narrow old brick roads to the more active (an loud) places of Kotor. There you will find an abundance of restaurants, cafés, bars, banks, various stores, galleries, an outdoor market, clubs, antic churches and numerous other services.

The first floor apartment is fully equipped with Jacuzzi and air-conditioning in all three bedrooms and in the combined and spacious kitchen/living room.

Three bedrooms:

- Master with 180x200cm bed and entrance to en-suite bathroom

- Medium bedroom with two 90x200 beds. These can easily be joined to become a double bed (180x200cm).

- Youth/children’s bedroom with a bunk bed where the bottom is 140x200cm while the top is 90x200cm, so it sleeps up to 3.

- If needed the couch in the living room can be made into a 140x200cm double bed to allow gest no 8 and 9 to sleep there.

The main bathroom has double sinks, WC, shower cabinet and a Jacuzzi.

The en-suite bath has sink, WC and shower.

About Stein

We are Stein and Trine, Norwegians currently living in Belgium. We have a teenage daughter and a cat as well.

We love traveling, to see and explore new places and are also quite interested in the history behind people and places.

As often as work and other comittments allow we try to go to Montenegro. But we are not able to be there as often as we would like. Therefore, other people are invited to use our very nice apartment. It is to good not go be used :-)

Why Stein chose Stari grad Kotor

Our apartment in Kotor was bought in 2005 and finished totally renovated in 2007. Further work was completed last year.

We absolutely love this old town and Montenegro, its friendly people, great food and amazing landscape, and would like to give others a chance to experience it too. We recommend to check out which festivals are on when you plan to go to Kotor, there is often something exiting going on.

What makes this apartment unique

Living inside the walls of Kotor feels a bit like being in a medieval movie. Authentic and full of history.

Everything is very close, but the layout of the town is such that our apartment is not troubled by the nightlife and the at times jubilant people.

When you step outside of the building you have 4 restaurants, a wineshop, two small stores, a hairdresser, two galleries and numerous shops within a 80 meter radius.

It is very easy to find even if you are visiting the town for the first time.

A modern, great apartment in a beautiful old city.

We have been two families of eight who have been on a trip together. This was our first visit to Kotor and Montenegro. We found the condo of Stein through HomeAway. The apartment was perfect for us. Spacious, modern and in a fantastic location within the walls of Kotor.

Our days started with a trip before breakfast. At that time there is a shadow in the city and lovely to walk or run. So have breakfast with fresh bread from the baker. Most days we used the city beach which is 5-10 minutes away. A very nice beach with opportunities for lunch and refreshments. We also had one day on a beach out on the coast and another day on a boat trip. In the afternoons and evenings we spent in Kotor's old town. There are many cozy restaurants on the many different squares inside the walls. Perhaps too many tourists, but anyway very cozy.

We are very pleased with the week in Kotor and would like to have a new visit. Maybe then a little off season

The apartment is just as it's described. It is a fabulous apartment and is fully equipped. Stein is extremely helpful and was a pleasure to work with. A wonderful place to call home while you're away!

Kotor is an amazing town and a great place to make your home base when exploring Montenegro. Montenegro is a beautiful country with extremely kind people. We loved our trip here.

Special interest holidays:

Bay of Kotor as well as the near-by Budva riviera have several attractive spots for scuba-diving, including underwater caves and shipwrecks. The surrounding mountains are great for hiking and even bouldering although some parts are totally wild and not for the faint-hearted. White-water rafting, trekking and climbing can be exercised in the inland mountains (Durmitor, Bjelasica are good for two or three day trips). Skiing is also on offer during the winter. The Lakes at the South of the country are a paradise for bird-watchers and all those who enjoy exploring unspoilt natural habitats.


Small beach close to the city-centre 5 minutes walk away. Large sandy beach ideal for children 15-20 minutes drive away. In addition to these you also have lots of small beaches in the Kotor Fjord as well as the famous Yaz beach and other beaches on the Budva Riviera.


Daily flights from many airports to Dubrovnik which is approximately 1-1,5 hour drive to Kotor. Car rental is from 35 Euro/day and up. Taxi to/from Kotor is 50-70 Euro,

There are progressively more and more flights from Europe to Tivat, only 10 minutes taxi ride to Kotor. Car hire either at the airport or in Kotor. Taxis are cheap and there are good local bus services around the region.


Kotor is one of the principle focal points of the country. Dubrovnik, 88km. Hercig Novi, 24km. Perast, 14km. Tivat, 11km. Budva, 27km. Sveti Stefan, 31km.

Further Details:

There are local supermarkets, bakers, and an excellent large daily fruit and grocery street market just outside the main gate. The kitchen in the apartment is well equipped for home cooking although it has to be said that eating out is very reasonably priced and there are many high quality restaurants. There are several cashpoints and banks within the old town.

Please be adviced that according to Montenegrin rules all visitors are obliged to register with the autorities within 24 hours of arrival to Montenegro. This can easily be done by one member of your party bringing all passports to the Tourist Board office in Kotor old town.

There are some fees:

- Initial registration 1 Euro/person

- Daily payment of

- Adults: 0,80 Euro/person

- Youth 12-18 years: 0,40Euro/person

- Child under 12: Nothing
