Pissouri Villa, Cyprus - Peaceful Location, 10 Min Drive to Blue Flag Beach, Leisurely 15 Min Walk to Village Sq.
- English, French
I am a single lady - now retired which allows me to spend more time in my beautiful Villa. I am always upgrading my lovely home and spend time in my garden, which is a great delight to me. I have watched it grow over the years and my favourite feature is my enormous palm tree, which I planted about 13 years ago, then only about 10 inches high. Now it is enormous and has been manicured and now boasts a wonderful pom pom top which swished in the wind - very therapeutic!!. The hibiscus is a brilliant foliage of red interspersed with a convolvulos of dark purply blue. Each time I visit I discover more and more delightful places and I share these discoveries with you in my visitors book. My visitors book is full of wonderful comments from my guests and they also share their experiences. Please take a minute to read and share your own experiences. My manager Phil and partner Marc do a fantastic job of looking after my guests, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are responsible for the airport pick up and drop off service we offer. So much nicer to have a friendly face on arrival! Cyprus is a warm and welcoming island full of history, mystery and romance. Pissouri is a village in which to relax and re-charge the batteries, a safe and enjoyable experience. My home, the Villa Athena is there for you, and I sincerely hope that you get as much pleasure from your stay as I always do. Come visit! Once you visit Pissouri, you'll return, that's a promise.......
Susan purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Susan chose Pissouri
I hunted high and low for a property with that something special and when I drove through Pissouri village I knew this was the place I wanted to be. People I have met since moving here have said pretty much the same thing, The village exudes a sense of welcome and so far I have not been disappointed. Full of character and characters! Lots of quaint restaurants, a beautiful church and an open air amphitheatre featuring tribute bands such as Fleetwood Back (not a spelling mistake) the Fab Four, Jersey Boys and so on. Just take a cushion is my advice. The drive up to the village is spectacular. What a view, Unbelievable! Everyone is so friendly and the village elders love to sit and chat outside the church and say hello or Kalimera! The drive to Pissouri Bay is so pretty winding roads all the way down. Lots of delightful restaurants and a Blue Flag beach no less where you can hire beds, umbrellas Hoby Cats, even the Banana boat! Learn to water ski in Summer or Snow ski in the Troodos mountains in Winter. Turtles wend their laborious way up the beach to lay their eggs, so unspoilt this delightful area remains. Paphos Airport is only a short drive, 15 minutes or so of fabulous coastal driving, breathtaking, with Aphrodites Rock and Temple just two of the sites to mark as places to see and breathe in.
What makes this Villa unique
The property from the front has delightful views across a green area down to a bay which walking or climbing enthusiasts might like to challenge. The area has now been landscaped and there are benches there for visitors to use. there is a fantastic view from the upstairs balcony and I have provided a table and chairs for you to sit, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. I love the walk to the village, a daily must to have a coffee, frappe, or just to have a very pleasant chit chat with friends and locals, idle away the time. Quite close by there are three wonderful beach bars for you to enjoy. Bon Amer is on the airport road - stunning views and fabulous food. Evenings at Bon Amer are relaxing as dusk descends and the sea lazily laps against the shore. Watching the yachts arrive to anchor, the airplanes arriving, and enjoying the quiet ambience of a beach bar which is a local secret. Also Milandra beach and Avdimou Beach. Great fish and chips at Kyrenia beach bar at Avdimou beach. Pissouri now boasts its own fish and chip shop - fantastic food!!............

Very comfortable property in a quiet location.
Good communication with owner prior to departure. Excellent welcome pack provided and great support from the property managers on site (Phil & ,Mark). Good restaurants within 20 minutes walk, beach 10 minute drive with more good restaurants. Great location for a quiet relaxing holiday. Car essential to explore.
So happy you had a great holiday Christopher with your family/friends and thank you so much for your excellent review. I understand you had a couple of issues which Phil and Mark were able to resolve and thank you for your understanding. very best wishes susie
Beautiful and peaceful
Lovely stay in a fabulous location, very peaceful, stayed with friends and kids and had a great time.
The cons are the pots and pans could do with a refresh and the showers need some help but that may be a water pressure issue.
Pool brilliant, location a good km from the village but an easy walk, some great nights in the village.
Car hire is a must if you want to see Cyprus, we used to live in Kolossi so didn't want a tourist experience and this provided the Cyprus experience we wanted.
Our only disappointment is we had to leave the cats behind and so hope they are ok and continue to be loved by guests in the future.
lovely and cosy villa set in delightful gardens. villa is very well equipped and the views from the front bedrooms and balcony are stunning. Lovely views from the master bedroom across Troudos mountains and some of Pissouri Bay. A very easy walk to the village where there are lots of restaurants to choose from. very comfortable beds and nice linen, all in all a great holiday
thank you so much for your fantastic review. It is important to me that my guests enjoy my villa and I try hard to provide the comforts that I know they will enjoy.
Lovely house very well maintained interior
The house is extremley well equipped, especilally the kitchen. Beach towels and hand soap were also supplied. The pictures really dont do the house justice the bedrooms are decorated to a nice standard
The house is just outside the village about a 15 min walk to the square where there are some very nice restaurants.
If you want to see anything of Cyprus then a car is essential.
The Balcony is the place for a sundowner we saw some spectacular sunsets.
The Owner Susie was very accommadating, she kept in contact as said that if we wanted anything to let her know.
a great big thank you to my recent guests for a fabulous review. so pleased you had a wonderful holiday and hope you will return one day
A relaxing holiday!
We have just returned from a two week stay at the Athena Villa and had a great time. The villa is a real home from home, clean and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and lovely pool and gardens. Susan also provides pool towels which helps with the luggage allowance. Booking was easy and Susan contacted us on several occasions, even checking what we would like to drink when we arrived (aside from the welcome pack which contained water). The villa managers, Marc and Phil were extremely helpful. There are wonderful views from the balconies on the first floor of the villa as well. This has to be one of the nicest villas we have stayed in, having stayed in both the Pissouri Bay and village on many occasions. Thanks Susie for a relaxing holiday.
thank you Debra and Andrew for your wonderful review of my property. I am so pleased you had a great holiday and would love you to return one day.
A great villa, superb seaview frm upstairs balcony
First impression, Wow! Hibiscus hedging in full glory, new rendering on the villa gives a lovely clean well kept appearance. A welcome pack was prepared for us including a bottle of sparkling wine. How lovely, sitting outside in the evening with fairy lights twinkling on the surrounding shrubs and winding up the tall tall palm tree, and the swimming pool all lit up. What we found most refreshing despite the heat of the day was a cool breeze, apparently locals call this hill the windy ridge!
The facilities were as described with new clean linen provided, wi fi, television and a good selection of dvd's should we have had time to watch them! Everything was clean and tidy, and I was lucky enough to meet Phil and Mark who look after the property as they popped by to check that all was to our satisfaction. Great personal service! The only thing I did notice was that there was no Bbq, but we were not on holiday to clean messy bbq's so we were more than happy to buy disposable ones which we could just throw away. We enjoyed our outdoor cooking immensely since it is a Cypriot way of life so we are told and the meat was very fresh and cheap. The butcher was right next door to the local taverna a few minutes walk from the villa. We were also given discount there as guests from the Athena villa which we thought was a nice touch. There is so much going on in Pissouri, we are so glad we found it. We were able to walk into the village (took us about a lazy 10 minutes or so) and enjoyed smashing plates a la Grecque, on Bouzouki night We were also lucky enough to be there when a tribute band for the Jersey Boys played in the ampitheatre, which is also in walking distance The atmosphere was amazing with everyone dancing. It was like being in a party of friends. I'd certainly recommend Athena Villa to any of my friends wishing to visit Pissouri, we had a great time A big thank you to our hostess with the mostest and the lovely Mark and Phil.
I am so happy you had a wonderful holiday in Pissouri and so glad you enjoyed my villa, which I am very proud of. I have had quite a few problems with BBQ's so thought it best not to provide one . I will always do my utmost to provide one on request,
Special interest holidays:
Planning a wedding? lovely venues, Paphos is very popular and only 30 mins from the villa.
The property sits at the top of the village of Pissouri and is an easy walk into the village. Pissouri bay is a ten minute drive from the village. Aphrodites rock just about 10 minutes drive away, stunning scenery and you can swim around the rock. Take the B road towards Paphos and look for Romiou Petra Tou - simply stunning views. Kourion Beach is stunning and great for swimming lots of waves to enjoy a lovely drive to it through the base - further details in the villa.
Paphos airport is the nearest, about 20 minutes drive.
Larnaca is just over 1 hour drive. The motorways are easy, well signposted and outside of towns, not congested. I recommend car hire if you wish to do site seeing otherwise it is an easy walk to the village. I can arrange pick up and drop off at the airport by my agent who charges far less than a taxi service if you prefer not to hire a car.
Paphos is about 30km from Pissouri and has lots of historical interest including the Tomb of the Kings and very cheap to visit. Limmasol also 30k has a new and an old town. The old part is really interesting and characteristic. I return to my villa three times a year and each time I find new places of interest which I list in my information book.
There are two small supermarkets in the village, but there is a big supermarket with fresh fruits, fresh meats, breads etc. at the foot of the village a short way on the left called Papantoniou it is open late and also on Sundays. There are three banks in the village. There are many restaurants, and two pubs. Also an amphitheatre and a church. Paphos now boasts a Liddol and is situated on the Tomb of the Kings Road it is worth a trip to get stocked up. Paphos also a good place to exchange your pounds into Euros, you will get a much better rate, shop around to get the best deal, go through the alleyways there are lots of shops giving good rates. Take the time to visit the places of historic interest around Paphos, they are very cheap to visit and well worthwhile. If you want a splendid lunch in breathtaking views take the road to Coral Bay and head towards the Akamis Peninsual - the restaurant is called the Last Castle. You may have to leave the car and walk a little way, You will need to reserve so ask Phil for more information. A simply splendid meal. There are many recommendations in the villa.
A welcome pack will be awaiting you upon your arrival.
