About The Owner

After holidaying in Crete on several occasions the owners Nick and Julia decided that the relaxed lifestyle and stunning views were too good to leave behind for a whole year.

They viewed the land and were actively involved in the building of the villa. They have built to a very high standard as this is their 'second home' and visit several times a year.

Nick and Julia want their guests to have all the comforts of home and have purchased everything for the villa to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable stay.

The owners love Crete and their home and the community of Kokkino Chorio and like nothing better than joining the community in their Easter celebrations in the village square.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2008

Why The Owner chose Kokkino Chorio

Having viewed land that was available for development both Nick and Julia were blown away with the stunning views that surround Villa Venus. Many guests say that although the pictures are stunning nothing compares to the real thing.

Villa Venus is situated on the edge of the village and only a short walk to the local family owned taverna. A very warm welcome is assured from Georgia and Yannis the taverna owners.

The villa is ideally situated overlooking an olive grove with absolutely stunning views of Souda bay and the white mountains.

Plaka and Almerida beach are a 2 and 7 minute drive away with tavernas, blue flag beaches with clear water. A further traditional village - Kalives is a further 5 mins away with another lovely beach and Tavernas.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Venus really is a home from home but with better views, weather and cuisine. Alfresco dining on the balcony and sundowners become the norm.

Crete is a wonderful place to visit, history, culture, climate and wonderul beaches and places to explore. There really is something for everyone and Villa Venus is a place where you can start to unwind and relax and take in the atmosphere of a real Cretan village.

Even if youve had a long journey, unpack your bags and take a 2 minute stroll to Yannis for a jug of village wine and wonderful food that his mum and wife provide. See you there!

Total Relaxation...Outstanding!!

  • 5 of 5

I have just returned from the most relaxing stay in this 'superb' villa. It is slightly off the beaten track in a sleepy Cretan village which boasts a friendly taverna, church and local shop. However, 5 minutes by car is Plaka, another fabulous village with a great selection of traditional taverna's and bars. You can't stop here without eating in 'Elpis' - which has been highly acclaimed by the Telegraph as one of the top Crete eateries. A few minutes further you will find the beautiful white sandy beaches of Kalives and Almyryda with more bars and restaurants to choose from, most of which I ate in during my stay. Here you can use the beach sunbeds for free on the basis that you buy a drink from the hotel. I didn't have a bad meal...all were freshly prepared with swift and friendly service. The villa is situated in Kokkino Chorio which is very peaceful with only a shop, church and local taverna, owned by Yiannis and his family who will ensure you a warm welcome and great hospitality. It was so relaxing, again with beautiful views. Here you can enjoy a night with the locals and enjoy a Raki or two! The local white wine was great and very cheap and you can purchase bottles/cartons of this in the local shops. I didn't try the red or rose so cannot comment.

The villa is situated in the most stunning location. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and offers the most comfortable beds. I guarantee that you will leave completely de-stressed. There was ample wardrobe space, perfect for a group of friends or family. The pool is cleaned regularly and the grounds are well maintained. The villa enjoys the sun all day with a light breeze occasionally which was very much welcomed - even in May. There is also a roof terrace which you can enjoy with comfortable sun beds allocated to Villa Venus. A dishwasher, wifi access and a washing machine are added features with views to die for in the covered dining area on the first floor adjacent to the kitchen. Although the villa shares a pool with others, this particular property enjoys its own sunbathing space which doesn't impact the other villas so there is no need to fight for your perfect spot!! The owners and management of this property obviously care and pay great attention to detail. I think this property is very reasonably priced considering the unique and stunning location.

The only negative about this holiday, was that it was over too soon.

Lovely villa

  • 4 of 5

Lovely well equipped villa, very comfortable, excellent pool area and beautiful views over Suda Bay. The villa is a short and easy walk to the village centre where there is a well stocked mini supermarket. There are two tavernas in the village one less than 200 metres from the villa, and many other good quality tavernas just a short drive away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Totally relaxing

  • 4 of 5

After a slightly stressful journey by car to find Villa Venus due to our plane arriving at 11.00pm and having to negociate the winding Cretan roads in the dark, we arrived to peace and tranquility. The stress levels began to reduce almost immediately. It was tempting not to leavecthe villa but we did venture out and explored some wonderful nearby places, Chania is beautiful and Octopus Bay is great. The Villa itself is in a perfect setting and is well equipped, the star of the show though is the pool! Great for early morning dips and lit up at night for those midnight swims. Sunsets from the roof terrace were awesome and the neighbours were really friendly and helpful. We would absolutely consider returning.

Did not know what to expect as looking at photos sometimes are distorted - Villa Venus was way above my expectations. Absolutely spotless, comfortably furnished with a welcoming bottle of local wine, milk coffee in the fridge and a few amenities in the shower. As I am in the tourism hospitality industry, just wanted a place to escape - well I found it. The local people were so friendly and accommodating - visited the local taverna and eat with the locals and expats, made friends very easily as I was travelling on my own - hired a car and visited the surrounding area - WOW what history. Went for long walks, the scenery is amazing. Bought cheese fruit and wine from the local small market and enjoyed evenings on the roof top and breakfast on the fabulous balcony which overlooks the sea. I felt so relaxed that my stress level went down to zero - tried to extend my stay but it had already been booked. I have now re booked for a longer stay in 2014. would certainly recommend this villa to friends and colleagues in the travel industry. Looking forward to my next visit!!
