The area is characterised with rolling countryside, large deciduous forests to walk or cycle in, and wonderful views of the Pyrenees which are within easy driving distance. A key feature of the property is the two wrap around terraces giving excellent opportunities to enjoy outdoor living and alfresco easting whether seeking sun or shade. There is a soft seating area from which you can enjoy an aperitif as you watch the sun go down, in addition there are ample loungers, reclining chairs, umbrella and a charcoal barbeque.Masseube is 10 minutes by car and has an excellent supermarket providing all your grocery, fuel and wine needs, Mirande, a typical bastide town is 15 minutes drive; both have weekly markets. The regional capital Auch is 20 minutes by car, with its impressive, recently renovated cathedral, maze of small streets with smart shops and cafes and regular brocante and weekly markets.

About Patricia Nelson
Hello, We are Patricia and Eddie and live in Belfast. We have owned our property for 10 years and have spent a great deal of time renovating and improving the house to make it into very comfortable and inviting holiday accommodation. Tricia is a keen collector of interesting furniture and objects, and some are dotted around the house giving it a very individual feel. The house is private, set in lovely countryside, but is not isolated, with easy access to shopping, fuel and so on. We are very happy to talk by phone or email to give you any additional information you may need. Just email or post your contact number and we will call you.

Lovely property and fabulous garden and pool area
Great living space and enjoyed the large kitchen diner area especially the wood burner in the unexpected poor weather we had for a few days.
A beautiful country cottage.
The gite is a charming, rustic country cottage set in the rolling hills of southern France. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling around the house, the Pyrenees are clearly visible in the distance and there are several pretty villages and towns nearby to visit. The house is well equipped with a great kitchen and comfortable lounge. The garden and patio are lovely places to chill out and have a barbecue, and the frog chorus in the evenings is a delight! Altogether a very pleasant stay.
Au Forgeron - the house is very well equipped, with everything you can think of, which makes your holiday perfect - a home from home. There is a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area, which is very sociable and well furnished. A gorgeous terrace runs along the back of the house - perfect for al fresco eating. A good-sized pool with paving and plenty of good quality sunloungers - one of the best pools we've had in a holiday rental. The area around Lagarde Hachan is flat and perfect for an early morning run - the roads are quiet. The listing description is accurate . This is a quiet get away from it all location.
Beautiful house in a quiet location
We loved our stay at Au Forgeron. It ticked all the boxes for great facilities, lovely outdoor space In a very quiet location. We particularly enjoyed having the use of the bikes ; the area around Lagarde Hachan is great for sedate cycling with lovely little hamlets nearby and great views of the Pyrenees. There is only one shower room which didn't matter much too us as our teenagers all got up at different times. In spite of being very rural it is close enough to local towns for shopping and the Pyrenees is only about an hour away.
Au Forgeron provided everything we needed in a beautiful setting
A beautiful house, spacious and very well equipped with a pretty garden, good swimming pool and lovely views. A great deal of thought has gone into it and we appreciated the extras especially the bikes and also the support of the local managers. We could have happily spent all our time there but it's in a very interesting region, too.
Perfect stay in the Gers countryside
We absolutely loved our stay, and found everything as described, and even better! We loved the traditional farmhouse itself, nicely decorated and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. However, as we were blessed with wonderful weather we actually spent most of our time on the wonderful terrace, where we ate all our meals (majority cooked on the great Weber barbeque) listening to birds and smelling the jasmine and lavender. The saltwater pool (apparently salt not chlorine to deter frogs) was lovely and we enjoyed several swims a day. Sadly, we only discovered the extensive network of tracks through the woodland behind the property towards the end of our stay and would have liked to do more bird watching and fossicking had we explored the woods earlier. We also enjoyed our game of petanque every evening at the front of the farmhouse with a glass (or three) of wine. The surrounding market towns are charming, although it did take us a day or two to realise that markets are generally all finished and packed up by midday! Merci beaucoup pour des vacances merveilleuses.
The diversity and sheer scale of this part of France gives artists, photographers, walkers and sports people unlimited opportunity to pursue their interests.
