Stockbridge, Central Edinburgh, Scotland - Quiet Apartment with Parking Garage

A quiet, modern, fully equipped apartment on the 2nd floor with an open view to the South. It is located in a little cul de sac just off the main shopping street. There is a roof terrace for spending some relaxing time in the sun or an impromptu BBQ. Our other apartment is a mere 100 metres away (Ref SC269)

.Stockbridge is a vibrant part of Edinburgh’s city centre. This area has a lively village atmosphere and a choice of pubs, good food shops and restaurants. It lies on the edge of the famous New Town (built in the early 1800’s) and the very centre of Edinburgh, with the castle and Princes Street just 15 minutes walk away.

From the nearby bus stop buses depart every 10 minutes or so to all major sights of the town. The famous Royal Botanical Gardens is a short and pleasant walk away. The water of Leith Walk Way is a mere 20 meters away.

I myself, or a representative ,will meet you at an agreed time on arrival day to let you in the apartment and show your round.

About Johan Hensens

Ancrum Craig , in Ancrum nr Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, is our home since 1976, and we have run this as a B&B from the beginning ! We bought a flat for our daughter to live in when she studied in Edinburgh. That was way back in 99. On graduation Erica moved to London we we decided to renovate the flat and rent it out for short term holiday lets.

This was successful and in 2006 we bought Pamela's flat next door.

We meet and greet all our guests, and do all the cleaning and maintenance. You can find full details of our accommodations on our website.

Why Johan Hensens chose Edinburgh

Stockbridge has a village atmosphere at the edge of the centre of Edinburgh. The town centre, Central station etc are a mere 15 minutes walk or a 5 minutes bus ride away.

It is a safe part of town: lively, but without the crowds, noise, tartan tat and general mayhem of the Royal Mile and the Old Town.

Good shops, bars and restaurants are within a 200m radius. The Royal Botanic Gardens and the Water of Leith walkway are just minutes away.

What makes this apartment unique

Pamela's flat has the advantage of open views to the south and the luxury of a secure parking garage on the ground floor. Anyone who has driven a car in Edinburgh knows what a pain and how expensive parking in the city is!

All the shopping you are likely to need during your stay is available within 200 meters. There are also a large number of quality pubs and restaurants just round the corner.

You can walk to all the main tourist attractions from the apartment but there is also a bus stop round the corner with a frequent service to all part of the town, including the university.

Great location

Stayed for a long weekend. Walked down the water of Leith to Oceans Terminal the walk starts just outside the front door. You wouldn’t know you were in a busy town. Great restaurants and pubs nearby. Princes street is just up the hill. Didn’t need to use the car. Apartment was clean and tidy and the home made jam was delicious. Johan met us and showed us around, milk ,breakfast cereal, tea and coffee were all provided. Would definitely stay there again

Lovely flat, great location

Stockbridge is already well know to us - it's a great neighbourhood with plenty of good local shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants - there's even still a post office!

Despite what is said, it is not in the city centre - nor is it walking distance, unless you are very young and fit, as it's seriously uphill! However, there are many bus routes to Princes Street and Leith, so the location is very convenient if you are in Edinburgh for sightseeing.

As for the flat itself, it's all great - well furnished, well equipped, a comfortable bed but, we had issues as to cleanliness - nothing serious but a feeling that the flat is overdue a jolly good spring clean...

Convenient but could use domestic touches

Review should be 3 and a half stars but that is not an option.

Pros: Convenient to Edinburgh attractions downtown (via bus system) and Botanic Garden (walking distance). Garage for car parking; Restaurants nearby; Nice bathroom; Good communication ahead of time via e-mail

Cons: The apartment was a challenge to locate (no signs) and could really use some domestic upgrades: Toaster smoked and tea pot was badly stained. Both should be replaced. Carpet and furniture were worn and carpet appeared to need cleaning.

This apartment in Stockbridge is perfect for those who want to explore Edinburgh - very nice neighborhood, short walk to Princes Street, Waverley Station, etc., with local shops for anything you need. Hosts were very helpful and informative, the apartment is lovely, close to but off the main street, everything you would want in a rental.

Great location, lovely apt, would recommend

The apartment was just what we wanted, close to the main Edinburgh attractions without being on top of them. The Stockbridge area is wonderful (recommend the Sunday morning market, yummy!). Plenty of room to relax, cook and feel like you're at home, away from home. 20 mins (slow walker) to Princes Street, 10 mins to the Botanical Gardens. We used the parking facility which was great, allowing the freedom to explore further afield (The Kelpies @ Falkirk, do it). Lots of great places to eat on Stockbridge high street. It was lovely to be greeted personally by the owner and shown around instead of a using a key safe. Description accurate, apt clean, facilities as described. Would def recommend.

Edinburgh airport is about 10 miles away.(Taxi about £25.00, Airport bus or tram £8 return + £2 for bus from Princessstreet) .Waverly station is about 30 minutes walk, a taxi from there is about £8/£10. If the main purpose of your visit is to see historic Edinburgh a car is not recommended. There are a number of good tour operators organizing day trips to countryside, including Loch Ness, Sterling, St Andrews , Highlands etc.

Changeover Day:
We have no fixed change over day as we have a minimum stay of 3/5 nights. We meet every customer in person on arrival at an agreed time. The apartment is available from 12 midday onwards. Check out time is 10am.
