About the property

Situated off Ilsham Marine Drive, overlooking Meadfoot Beach and Tor Bay - Peaceful residential area, ideally placed for the beach, wonderful scenic walks along the coastline.

Highlands is a gas centrally heated detached house situated in a peaceful, residential area of Torquay. All the rooms offer wonderful views across the Bay and down to Meadfoot Beach. Minutes away from the house are glorious coastal walks - either to the bustling town centre, harbour and marina, and in the opposite direction to Babbacombe and further onwards towards Shaldon/Teignmouth. There is parking for 2-3 cars in the driveway plus more roadside parking. The front area comprises two large Mediterranean style paved courtyards with lighting, tables and chairs. A rear terrace accessible from the kitchen and sitting room offers al fresco dining. The rear garden provides a BBQ area and steps down to a good-sized, well-stocked garden offering room for ‘controlled’ football, cricket etc. (We ask that our guests respect the neighbours and keep any balls to our side of the fences). Beyond the garden is a private copse, home to badgers, foxes and even the occasional deer. Highlands has three separate reception areas with plenty of room to spread out and find some seclusion. On a still day you can hear from across the Bay, the sound of the steam train in Goodrington, on its way to Kingswear and Dartmouth.

Notes on accommodation: The furniture is a mixture of antique oak and pine, complemented by new pine, fabric sofas. There are original oil and water-colour paintings, mixed with old and new prints. Highlands is a large comfortable, relaxing home with plenty of space to spread out, places to be on your own and places to join in the party. Outside: The Terrace overlooking the Bay has a metal framed circular glass table with matching chairs and a parasol. There are two secluded terraces to the front of the house with furniture, pots and shrubs. It would be most appreciated if guests could occasionally water the patio pots and plants. The large rear garden is laid mostly to lawn with ample room for friendly games! Utility Room: Toilet and wash basin, ironing board and iron, washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen provided and one bath sheet and hand towel per person. Adequate tea towels, dishcloths, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls provided for the week. Property cleaned weekly on a Saturday and gardens attended regularly. Other: Boiler room off garden room with drying lines. Outside drying line

Lovely location not really walkable to the shops but quiet and all major facilities within short dri

House clean good rooms and furniture. Slight problem with curtains caused by earlier renters and if being picky kitchen could have done with more oven ware like baking trays.

Lovely clean spacious house with fabulous views set in elevated position and on quiet road.

We thought property was in a great location for cliff top walking and is located between Torquay and Babbacombe. Is on a beautiful quiet residential area out of the busy tourist area but not too far to drive in - only 5 minutes drive away. House is very clean and comfortable with lovely views from all bedrooms.

Stunning house, would definitely recommend and go again!

Stayed for 7 days in October with 3 adults and 2 children.

This house is locaated on the edge of Torquay with wonderful views over the sea. ALthough the weather wasn't great all week we went on day trips to Paington Zoo, and spent many days in Torquay itself. Would recommend the 20 minute drive to Paington Zoo.

The house itself was welcoming from the moment we stepped through the door and was well equipped for us, from kitchen equipment to games for the family.

Not only would we love to visit again (and planning to), we have already recommended it to friends and family (having only returned yesterday!)

Beautiful property, Immaculately clean, We are missing it already !!!!!!

We Loved everything about our holiday, Torquay is beautiful,

We looked for a dog friendly location with dog friendly accomodation and found you, It turned out to be a good find !!!

Plenty to do and plenty to see,

After a few hours around the town each day amongst the holiday makers we used to drive only 5 minutes back to the house and it was so peaceful, The view over the bay from the holiday home has to be seen to appreciate just how beautiful it really is,

Im the sort of person that is usually ready for home nearing the end of a holiday, but in this years case i really did not want to leave,

5 minutes walk to Meadfoot Beach, popular 'locals' beach. This beach has a mixture of rocks and sand. A beach cafe and shop provides everything for the day. A diving shop also stocks canoes and paddle boards and tuition is available. Highlands is a five minute walk from Hopes Nose, a popular fishing spot (Sammy the seal normally takes up residence in the summer months, waiting for his mackerel dinners). Torquay Harbour is a five minute drive or 25 minutes walk along the scenic coastal path.


Exeter arport 25 miles away. Bristol airport 2 hours away.

Recommend the use of a car if you wish to visit the surrounding area.


Wellswood Village is one mile away for convenience shops, restaurants, pub, newspapers, post office and popular Kents Cavern tourist attraction.
