The house is a traditional farmhouse, and is extremely spacious. The rooms have great character with lovely exposed beams and stone walls. It can comfortably sleep 12 to 16 people. There are 3 bathrooms and a cloakroom. Please call to discuss your requirements with us, as the accommodation is very flexible. There is a large fenced saline heated pool (12x6m), and a games room to keep the children happy, and plenty of outside space to explore. The locality is rich in history, and there are many pretty medieval villages within easy reach. Our farmhouse is situated down a long track off a quiet country road. We are 3km from the village of Gondrin. Here you will find a boulangerie, small supermarket, and very helpful tourist information. The village also has a huge outdoor pool, with lots of fun for all the family, and two tennis courts. The larger towns of Condom and Eauze are 10 mins by car and they offer larger supermarkets and plenty of cafes and restaurants.

About Gill and Mark Wooldridge
Hi there. We are Gill and Mark, proud and lucky owners of a beautiful Gascon farmhouse. We have been married for over thirty years, and have two grown up sons. We share our time between the Gers in Southwest France and the West Midlands, UK. We enjoy being outdoors, cycling, walking, skiing and playing tennis. I like to cook, read and play the piano, and Mark likes to have a 'project' on the go. We both like to entertain and spend time with our family and friends. Our farmhouse is a place where we can do all the above, and more. The warm climate and tranquility are a tonic to our busy English lives.

Mid-forties, mid-life crisis! Love affair perhaps? Yes, but a love affair with another country and culture, with another place. A cold, dismal, wet February, and we are in Gascony meeting an estate agent. We have taken total leave of our senses and are trudging round houses and land, some grand, some homely, and some barely habitable. Finally, at the end of a long track off a quiet country lane, we find a stone farmhouse. There are trees growing on the inside, the walls are tumbling in, and nature is rampantly reclaiming her territory. We are captivated. What an adventure to embark upon. Two years later and there has been a transformation. A stone farmhouse with pale green shutters, surrounded by tranquil countryside welcomes her first guests. We love the pace and simplicity of rural life here.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The Gers is an unspoilt destination, well served by several airports, and good road links. The countryside is wonderful, with endless vineyards and sunflowers. It is a very relaxing destination, but there is also a huge variety of things to do within easy reach. Some people have loved the location so much that they have barely left the grounds, lazing by the pool, reading, happy with friends or their own company. Others have set to and visited villages and monuments, vineyards and restaurants, gone horse-riding, go-carting, played golf and tennis, and then come home for a cool dip in the pool. The games room is a great bonus on a wet day. There is something for everyone here. Generally the summer evenings are lovely enough to sit out until late and watch the stars come out one by one.

Beautiful place for a holiday 5*
Such a tranquil place to stay. Set in the beautiful French countryside, it was a lovely way to relax. The facilities were excellent, everything you needed. We cycled to lovely little villages near by for lunch. There are some fantastic places for dinner too. All in all, we will be back! *****
What an amazing place. The photos on the internet do not do it justice. I was just smiling, smiling, smiling when we arrived. It was far better than the photos. It's HUGE! There were 6 adults, 8 children of ages 3-16. We all loved it.
The upstairs sleeping areas are perfect. All the doors to the bedrooms and bathrooms converge to a massive internal square corridor. It's a perfect set up. The rooms are really spacious as well. All the beds/mattresses/sheets/pillows are of really good quality. Really comfortable. Bathrooms of a really high standard.
Downstairs a fully stocked kitchen with everything we could need. Incredibly clean. Handy bits left, like spices, oils, tea, coffee, wine, bread, toilet paper. 1 Fridge freezer and 1 fridge. Also laundry room with washing machine, dryer, iron etc etc. There was also a downstairs bedroom and another if you book for 16.
The outside is a huge area which we all loved especially the children. They loved the hammock, bikes, swings, tennis rackets and specially the pool. You could really let them just be free and run around, even the younger ones, as the pool has a secure gate.
Massive table outdoors, and two barbecues. We spent every night eating outside and dancing away the night, looking at the stars. Bedrooms had double glazed windows, so children could sleep silently whilst parents practiced their amazing dance moves!
Two ladies, (Dianne and Anya), who maintain/clean the place, popped over at the beginning to make sure we were okay and settled in and if there were any questions. This was quite handy to know that there was someone we could call, who would pop over quickly in case we needed them.
So, perfect holiday. We went away with lots of children and adults, However I can see how this would be perfect for lots of adults too. There is so much room that you can always find a quiet place to sit and read or just look at the vineyards in the distance.

We had a wonderful week staying at Barrusclet. There were 15 of us (from ages 2 to 60) and everyone had a fabulous time. The house is clean and well thought out and the pool is glorious (what a treat to have it heated!). We loved it so much, we’ve already booked for next year! We can’t wait :)
Everything we hoped it would be
We had the pleasure of staying at Barrusclet for almost 6 weeks, from early June-Mid-July 2018. Family and friends stayed with us for varying amounts of time, using Barrusclet as a base for exploring the Pyrenees, the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, and the beautiful area the makes up the Gers region.
The house, grounds, and pool are well kept and comfortable. The pool is large and attended to regularly. Anja, who is the local property resource, is attentive, a great source of local information (my husband required an osteopath while we were there), and extremely pleasant. With our extended stay we felt as though Anja was part of our group.
This is a house for people who love to be "with nature." The house is surrounded by hayfields and vineyard (actively worked) and there is ready access to excellent biking on side roads and on the walking/bike path. There is plenty of history in the Gers and many small and interesting villages and historic sites to visit.
The bakery, butcher, and "8 a huit" (small market) in the village of Gondrin are all excellent. Our large market of choice was LeClerc in Eauze, as was our favorite outdoor market on Thursday mornings.
This is a comfortable and well-attended to property in a beautiful rural part of France.
A wonderful, relaxing and beautiful holiday home
Had a wonderful week at Barrusclet- loved the fab cycling rides you can do straight from the house and the outdoor pool is just gorgeous. Eating outside is lovely and the kitchen is well equipped to help you prepare all the lovely food you can buy in the local markets.

Fantastic place to stay
We went with a large group of friends and we had a great holiday. The farmhouse is fantastic and very well equipped with everything you could need. We can’t fault the place or it’s facilities, we had a great week at Barrusclet and would definitely love to go back.
Special interest holidays:
Bike hire in France. Rather than hire we offer plenty of bicycles for you to borrow. The local countryside is superb for cycling with far reaching views, and plenty of lovely villages and vineyards to visit. We have maps and routes for you to borrow, or we can possibly even arrange to guide you if you let us know in advance. We have in the region of 15 bikes, at least 10 of these are adult bikes. We also have bike pumps, repair kits etc. for you to use. We do not provide helmets. If you like to wear a helmet you need to bring your own. We have had some wonderful cycling trips out to local villages, stopping for lunch at Fources, or the market at Eauze. If you like cycling then this could be the place for you. It is great during off peak weeks as the temperature is much better for physical activity, plus the house is great value then. It is just perfect for a group of friends who enjoy active holidays, with cycling, tennis at Lauraet, and the road to Santiago de Compostela.
The Atlantic coast is approx. 2 hours drive away. This will take you to the surfing beaches between Biarittz and Bordeaux.
There are 5 main airports within 2 hours drive. We always use either Bordeaux or Toulouse (1.5 hours) with Easyjet or Flybe. Both are good airports with all the main car hire operators available. The other airports are Pau and Bergerac, and a bit further away is Biarritz. Ryanair, Flybe, Air France and British Airways are worth looking at for these 3 airports.
By car the drive from Calais is approximately 10 hours. Caen and St. Malo (6 -7 hours) are closer, as are Bilbao and Santander in Spain.
Gondrin our nearest village is 3km. Montreal is a medieval village with bars and restaurants: 5km. Larresingle is a medieval fortified village: 5km. Condom offers boat trips, cafes and restaurants: 12km. Eauze has a great market and good eateries: 12km. Agen and Auch are large towns and are both about 45 minutes drive away. Bordeaux and Toulouse are the major cities and are both under 2 hours drive.
Our region is famous for Armagnac and Foie Gras. There are many vineyards within easy reach where you can drop in for a tasting, and most of the restaurants have local specialities on the menu.
Other activities within an hours drive include: High Ropes courses, canoe trips, Wallabi World theme park, a great Go-Karting course, a Water Park, paint-balling, and horse riding. The Thermal Spa town of Castera Verduzan, and the Roman Villa at Seviac with its mosaic floors are both close by. Also there are numerous swimming lakes and pools with beaches and slides and play areas. Plenty of small villages are within easy reach, and many offer restaurants and bars for you to discover during your stay. Our favourite is the auberge in the lovely village of Fources, a tiny medieval village built in the round, with gorgeous flowers at every window. The plat du jour is 13 euros and includes 3 courses, wine and coffee. This village also hosts a flower festival and regular antique markets.
Another local village is Montreal. It has a lovely square, with bars and restaurants, and hosts a medieval fayre in the Summer. It also has a small bull-fighting arena, where during the summer festival there is a bull-jumping contest. Not really our thing, but we were happy to see that the bulls were not hurt. The larger market town of Vic-Fezensac has a large bull-fighting stadium, where I think it is more serious. Vic-Fezensac also hosts a huge Latino Salsa Festival over one week in the Summer, and a weekly market. Most of the local villages host their own festivals throughout the summer, and these can be great fun with live music, eating and drinking, sporting contests, and firework displays. The tiny medieval fortified village of Larressingle is a really pretty spot, with a small café/restaurant, and a working museum of medieval weaponry. The pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela comes through this area if that is your interest, and the peaceful Abbaye de Flaran is close by.
Our house is cleaned and prepared to welcome all our guests and we provide some essential items to get you started like tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, etc. Also some bin bags, dishwasher tabs, washing liquid, loo rolls etc. When these supplies run out you will need to add them to your own shopping list as required. Housekeeping is not included in the cost of this rental, but if this is something you would like it is available at an additional cost. Please enquire. 25% non-refundable deposit required at time of booking, with the balance of 75% due no less than 90 days prior to the rental period. Discounts for smaller groups, long term lets, and short breaks considered in off-peak season. These can be very generous, depending on how busy we are, so please do enquire. Also arrival and departure times can be more flexible on short off-peak breaks and depend on what other bookings we have. We are usually happy for guests to arrive earlier and leave later if there is not an adjacent booking to consider so please ask. Changeover Day: Bookings are generally Saturday to Saturday.
