Holiday Home in Ayia Thekla, Nr. Ayia Napa, Cyprus - Peaceful Location, Short Walk to the Sea
We retired to Cyprus 8 years ago after buying our first holiday home here 10 years ago. We found it harder to go back to England each time we came out for a holiday, so we decided to sell up in England and buy a bigger bungalow to live in and rent the one in our advert out. We have settled in Ayia Thekla and this is now home, it is a lovely quiet coastal area not to far away from Ayia Napa which is a lively resort with plenty to do. We have two grown up sons who are both married and we know have four lovely grandchildren. Who come out to visit us often.
Owner purchased this Bungalow in 2004
Why Owner chose Sotira
We fell in love with Ayia Thekla when we came out on holiday and decided to buy our first bungalow here. It is a lovely quiet area with a nice coastal path and some nice quiet little beaches. It is not to far away from Ayia Napa which is a lively holiday area with a lovely little harbour.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Our property is in a quiet cul-de-sac with its own secluded garden and pool. We have a water cooler in the property which is filled up for each guests and we are there to greet them personally and show them around the bungalow and answer any questions they may have. We also supply tea, coffee and milk so that you can have a drink when you arrive.

We were pleased overall with the villa and it’s facilities. You do need a car in this location, which we had already hired, as the villa is a long way from Ayia Napa and a return taxi will cost 30 Euros at night. We are familiar with the area so were prepared for this ourselves. The villa is very clean and provided for and milk and beers were in the fridge on arrival which was a nice touch. We just have a couple of observations. The mattresses weren’t very uncomfortable and the pillows flat so we felt they were all in need of replacement and there were no spare pillows available. There was only one top sheet to cover each bed and we would have preferred more bedding so we had to use the throws from the sofas as extra covers which we had been specifically asked not to remove. The towels were not changed at all and we were there for two weeks! We were expected to launder the towels ourselves and so provision of a full box or bottle of detergent would be appreciated instead of leftovers. In a previous villa we have stayed in there was a linen service including towels every few days regardless of length of stay. I feel that some items such as tea bags, coffee and sugar should be fully stocked on arrival and not just leftovers from previous guests. A supermarket is close by (again a car is required) so wasn’t a major issue for us but could be for others. A few mats around the villa would be useful to deaden sounds and the hollow echo from the villa being tiled throughout and would not be onerous for cleaning purposes. Margaret and John, the owners, were very friendly and informative and there was plenty of local information provided in a folder. The outside of the villa was really clean and tidy and the swimming pool was kept clean on a regular basis. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again as it is a quiet and safe residential environment for families and couples of all age groups.
This has been the 4th year we have holidayed in the Ayia Thekla area but the first time.at this property. We have to say that this villa is exceptional, well maintained and everything you need for your stay. A car is essential but there is a small supermarket about 30 minutes walk from the villa. The villa is very private and in a very quiet area although just approximately a 20minute drive into Ayia Napa.
We found that John & Margaret were very attentive and the welcome pack was very much appreciated especially due to our arrival time.
We had a fantastic relaxing 3 week holiday and would say that we would have no hesitation in returning in the future.
Thank you for the lovely review we are glad you enjoyed your stay at our property .
As described, nice villas
Comfortable, quiet, close to nice walks and nice hosts, John & Margaret. Met us at the villa explained everything. Any problems, a text to them produced quick results. Nice swimming pool which John cleans every week. Close to Ayia Napa which has become a little tatty in places but some nice restaurants there.
Great property which us well looked after by the owners
Nice family , we would welcome them back anytime.
Lovely property with everything you need for a great holiday!
We've just returned after a great week. Margaret and John were very helpful and friendly providing us with all the info we needed and always on call to help. Lovely good sized swimming pool which was regularly cleaned. Fantastic outdoor spaces with plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas, barbeque and table and chairs. A car is recommended to make the best of the area. We will hopefully be returning next year. Thanks John & Margaret.
Very clean and well equipped bungalow has everything you need and very nice enclosed outdoor
We came to have a holiday whilst visiting family usually we have stayed in hotels we certainly will not going back to hotels and hope to revisit this property next year
