Apartment in Playa de Pals, Catalonia, Costa Brava, Spain. Close to Beaches & Golf Courses

Situated close to the coast at Playa De Pals / Platja De Pals and adjacent to the Pals championship golf course the apartment is ideal for family holidays couples and golfers. The apartment has a patio leading onto a garden area with a swimming pool adjacent and is about three quarters of a mile from the beach - approx 15 minutes walk or a couple of minutes by car. A supermarket, cafe, bars, a pizzeria and restaurants are all within easy walking distance. There are 6 excellent tennis courts just 5 minutes walk away. There is a cafe / bar a minutes walk away and is ideal for a pre or post dinner drink. Pals - a delightful medieval village is situated nearby and really is worth a visit. Parking space is provided to the rear of the apartment. The apartment is situated on the ground floor. The pool has a shallow end as well as a deep end. As well as having a garden outside the apartment there is a shaded copse of pine trees just 20 metres to the left. Ideal for children to play. It has a basketball net and a table tennis table. Bats and balls are in the apartment sideboard

About Richard Walker

Carol and I (Richard) have spent many family holidays in Catalonia We now tend to use the apartment for long weekends as well, since flying to and from Gerona airport has become so much easier than it used to be. Occasionally we fly via Barcelona if we want to combine the holiday with a visit to this fantastic city.

Our daughters having used the apartment as children now use it for their family holidays.

We live in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Our time is spent with a mixture of work, family, gardening and watching Rugby League and or Motor Racing.

Why Richard Walker chose Pals

We had many family holidays at the camp site at Cypsela (Playa De Pals) and fell in love with the area. We tried a few holidays elsewhere and eventually decided we liked the area so much more than anywhere else that we bought 'our second home' here.

Our children, having grown up with family holidays in the area, still go back as often as they can.

We like it when its busy mid season and like it when its quiet from September to June we just use it to get away and relax.

You will be able to see from our website (see just above 'Notes' on Facilities Page at the bottom - link to our web site) that we have got to know the area very well.

The apartments in El Coto (Playa De Pals) are around 50% owned by Spanish people as holiday homes, which must say something good about their appeal. This tends to mean that weekends are often quite well occupied as the owners come up from Barcelona for Saturday and Sunday but during the week they are never overcrowded.

Out of season they are well suited for golfers with 3 courses very close by. Anyone interested in motor racing will find it a great combination of holiday and sport should they want to visit the Circuit of Catalunya about an hour and a half away. We have been to the Spanish Grand Prix on many occasions as part of our holiday.

The garden area can be easily 'blocked off' between the hedge to prevent small children venturing further out with just access back into the apartment. Outside: The apartment is situated on the ground floor and has a patio leading onto a garden area with a swimming pool adjacent. The pool has a shallow end as well as a deep end. As well as having a garden outside the apartment there is a shaded copse of pine trees just 20 metres to the left. Ideal for children to play. Utility Room: Drying area at back. All you need in quiet, stunning part of Spain

Clean, neat, well equipped apartment in a quiet, beautiful part of the Spanish coast.

We stayed in early June and effectively had the spotless pool and gardens to ourselves.

2 bedrooms - perfect for our family of 2 adults, 7yr old, 5yr old and 7 month old - the owners were super helpful in advance of our stay and helped to arrange for a cot for our baby too.

Relaxing holiday

Everything has been thought of for this apartment, it is modern, clean, very comfortable and well equipped. There are lovely little touches such as plenty of information on the surrounding area from beaches to restaurants, and books to read. The pool is a great size and more than enough for two teenage boys. All contact with Richard was great and really appreciated a late check out on our last day. Would definitely recommend this property, a great base for visiting great beeches and exploring the area.

Amazing Location to Explore

A very well kept property with all the amenities you require. They even supply beach equipment from beach chairs to rush mats and umbrellas.

The kitchen is modern and a good size extending into a comfortable living area where you walk through to a patio area which catches the sun in the morning. Great for breakfasting. The double bedroom is comfortable, and the 2nd bedroom was perfect for Grandad and Grandson. The swimming pool was kept clean. It has a shallow and deep end, so perfect for the kids.

You will need a car to be able to visit the vast surrounding areas. The surrounding villages and towns must be visited as they have amazing restaurants and beautiful beaches. Our favorites were Begur, Aguablava and Pallafrugel.

Highly recommend if you enjoy exploring.

Owner's Response: Just to manage expectations the supply of beach equipment ‘ebbs and flows’ as it’s kept in an outside storage area and is dependent on items being borrowed and returned. During the season we have no control of what gets broken or lost. However, there is usually sufficient for most families. Highly recommended, beautiful and well equipped!

What a gorgeous apartment in such a beautiful part of Spain. The apartment is really well equipped, extremely clean and comfortable. It's a home from home. There isn't an item of kitchen equipment that you will need that isn't there. There is a DVD player, loads of CDs, a washing machine and even staple foods left in the cupboard.

It has a great location, away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk out to a supermarket, restaurants, tennis and mini golf etc.

There is so much to do in the area, we highly recommend Parc Aventura down the road where the kids did tree top walking and zip wiring.

We hired a car which was perfect for exploring all the beautiful coves and beaches in the area. I would also recommend a visit to Begur on market day and a walk up to the top of the old castle.

This really is a beautiful part of Spain and a great apartment. It's on the ground floor with a little garden which is great for toddlers as it doesn't go straight out onto the pool.

The owners are very helpful and informative and have gone to a lot of trouble of leaving information in the apartment for places to visit and eat.

We're not golfers but there is a beautiful golf course around the corner.

We will definitely go back!!

Apartment very well equipped and comfortable,Everything was close to hand ie Supermarket,

Super location

Clean, tidy, comfortable and well appointed without exaggeration. This little gem meets every expectation of the discerning holiday maker and is located in a lovely part of Spain. So easy to access beautiful coastlines and excellent facilities. The property is well maintained inside and out and provides a haven of peace and tranquility after a day in the surrounding picturesque countryside or coast. Definitely one for those who insist on high standards and essential quality.

Playa De Pals / Platja De Pals

There are a variety of beaches nearby ranging from tiny rocky coves to long flat stretches of golden sand. Depending on whether you want to spend the day underwater swimming, wind surfing or exerting all your energy sun bathing there is a beach to suit your needs. Listed below are some of the favourites. This does not necessarily mean that they will be crowded. A lot depends on the time of the year. Pals, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aiguablava, Tamariu, La Franc, Calella De Palfrugell.


The nearest airport is Gerona airport and is 40 minutes from Pals. Fortunately Ryanair call it Barcelona Airport and use it as their hub for Spain. As a result it has frequent low cost flights from the likes of Gatwick, Southamton, Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Doncaster, Leeds / Bradford and more. Others (like Monarch)do fly there but its predominantly Ryaniar. There is also the other Barcelona Airport just south of Barcelona about 1 and a half hours from Pals. Train London Figueras


Gerona 40 mins. Palafrugell 10 mins. La Franc, Begur, Tamariu, Aiguablava, Sa Tuna. Peratallada are all 10 to 15 minutes away.

Booking Notes:
Once you have established that the apartment is available you may make a booking by email. I will reply in writing. A deposit of 10% is required and the balance is due approx 6 weeks before departure when I will send directions and keys etc. Unlike some apartments no breakage deposit is required as our experience is that guests always look after the apartment as we would. We do ask though, that if you do accidently break anything (glasses etc.), that you replace it for the next guests.

Changeover Day:
Prefer Saturday but can be flexible. Out of season Friday to Monday for a long weekend is fine.

Notes on prices:
Lettings do not have to be Saturday to Saturday. Please ask as they can be flexible to suit your flight arrangements. We do however try to avoid gaps high season. Linen costs (weekly change of bed linen, bath towels, tea towels and laundry) are included in the letting charge. If you are travelling by car there are reductions for people who want to provide their own (not really suitable if flying).
