About John Roberts
Myself and my wife Jules moved to Italy in May 2003. Our daughter Keelin was born in Como in May 2005 and she claims to be Italian.. We had our heart set on lake views and were fortunate to find the perfect villa for us. Stunning views and a short walk to the wonderfully quaint but lively village. We moved to Italy for professional reasons. I took up employment in Lugano, Switzerland. Thankfully I got a frontaliere visa and we availed of the best of both worlds, Swiss work and Italian living. We adore Argegno and it's environs. It has a vibrant village and also there is lots to explore in Val D'Intelvi. I bought two apartments in Argegno in 2008 and we're hoping to spend lots more time there. However mortgages mean that we need to dream for the moment.
John Roberts purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why John Roberts chose Argegno
Two words - vista and location. Amazing location, with a swimming pool and only two minute walk to the village. Lake Como and Argegno are relatively well hidden jewels. They are in central Europe, yet in a quiet and beautiful location with so many things to do.
What makes this Apartment unique
Privacy, ease of access to everything and stunning surrounds.
Pool / Spa
We rented both apts. lovely. Lovely pool and location
Lovely Christmas break..
The apartment is amazing, with a fantastic location in the middle of the village. We were there for a Christmas celebration, so it was the winter season. Wonderfully equipped and nice and snug. Delighted with it and will definitely be back.
Lovely apartment with wonderful lake views
The apartment is easy to find and well situated as a base for touring Lake Como. Argegno is beautiful and feels away from the hustle and bustle of some of the busier towns, with a selection of good restaurants. The apartment is up approx 100 steps from the piazza so better for the fit and able bodied. Pool was very clean and most days we had it to ourselves. We would highly recommend the apartment and Argegno although the €30 internet hire charge isn't worthwhile- the connection is very poor.
thx guys - delighted you enjoyed your stay. Will have a look at that connection. Apologies
Just back from a week long in Argegno.
There were 4 of us there- 2 adults & 2 girls, 12&9. The apartment is really great - there's was nothing we wanted that wasn't available, though I didn't find the hairdryer until the day before we were leaving 😀
The twin room was plenty big with lots of storage & the double bed looks smaller than it actually was. There were plenty spare bedclothes, cutlery, Delph etc.& the apartment was spotless. The pool was good too and was cleaned while we were there. It got a little busy at the weekend but plenty of sun loungers available.
Argegno itself is a very pretty little village. The apartment is a 3-4 minute walk through a back-lane & though you can drive also, it'd take you the same time to get the car out of the garage. There are several restaurants & cafes in the village & all served tasty local food. Prices varied a little but not much. We particularly liked Barchetta & went there twice during our week. There was a good selection of local wines also & I won't mention the ice-cream.... Yuuuuummmmmm!
We travelled on the boat across the lake, looking for George (to no avail 😢) and really liked Bellagio for shopping. It's a little touristy but that was ok for a day-trip.
The ONLY downside to the apartment is the hill, which is tough going. The apt is not really suitable for buggies or anyone that is a bit dodgy on the ol' legs in my opinion. But for those of us that are just unfit, you can take plenty breathers on the way up the hill and admire the beautiful views.
We really enjoyed our week here & would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Thx a million.. Delighted you enjoyed yourselves!
Our Family of 4 (parents and two kids at 10 and 13) had a perfect holiday - the only complaint is that we had only booked the place for 1 week - 2 would have been better.
Charming and sunny town, good appartment, beautyfull view, wonderfull pool, nice people, quiert area but very close to "city" and lake, excellent ice cream, tasty restaurants and close to everything - and so many different activities....
We enjoyed to have half a day by the pool and half a day out - so it was perfect to be able to do this and experience so many different places and activities within half-a-day tours.
We have already recommended the place to our family and friends and are considering comming back - there are still so many things to do around Argegno......
thx a mil Karen - hope your settled into the new house now!!
Perfect Apartment In Argegno!
Our family of 2 adults & 2 children stayed in this apartment in July 2014 for 2 weeks and it can only be described as a perfect holiday apartment. Apartment itself is spacious and well furnished but the best bit is the uninterrupted views from the living area and balcony of Lake Como and the mountains .... I never got bored of waking each morning and opening the doors up to the view. The pool is lovely & clean and shared with only a handful of apartments means that usually we were the only ones there and never struggled to get a sun lounger to relax on. Often a 5 minute walk can mean much longer but this apartment is just a 5 minute walk to the village centre which has a good variety of places to eat and drink but more importantly a lovely authentic Italian feel where the locals make you so welcome. The ice-cream shop is also heaven!
Argegno is so well placed for trips by boat around Lake Como but also for trips further afield by car ... 15 minutes drive and you are across the border into Switzerland and exploring villages and towns there, take the kids to Monte Tamaro for a great day out bob sleding and zip wire up the mountains and Splash Tamaro and indoor waterpark and spa is a must as well as fabulous shopping at Fox Outlet for some serious retail therapy.
All in all the perfect place for some unwinding and relaxing in a laid back, authentic part of Italy but close enough to more major attractions to keep all the family happy on holiday.
thx a mil Dianne! lovely to meet you all and delighted you enjoyed it..
The village of Argegno has it's own private 'lido' or beach area (2 minutes walk from the apartment) where you can rent sun loungers and umbrella shades for very little. This means you can enjoy the lake and /or the private pool area of the apartment.
Milan Airport Malpensa 40 mins. Milan Airport Linate 1 hour. Milan Airport Bergamo 1 hour 20 mins. All airports have rail links to Milan. Trains run frequently to Como town from Milan with regular bus service to Argegno. Car hire recommended as there is so much to see.
The apartment is a 2 minute walk from the vibrant village (rated the best village on lake Como!) of Argegno and about 15 minutes by bus or boat from the city of Como. There are many rustic lake villages (like Bellagio, Menaggio) which are very short distances by boat, bus or car from Argegno. Argegno is a 35 minute drive from the famous designer outlet mall called Foxtown just across the border in Switzerland.
The village of Argegno has many excellent restaurants to choose from, making sure you can eat at different restaurants almost every night of the week. This being Italy, it is very difficult to be disappointed by the culinary quality. There are at least 2 very trendy and friendly pubs for a pre or post dinner drink/s. There are 2 banks (with ATM machines), one small supermarket/shop, an authentic Italian ice cream shop, a bakery where one can enjoy freshly baked bread, croissants every day, butcher, fruit shop, hairdresser, wellness centre and tabacci (to purchase cigarettes). Visit Villa Carlotta and see it's beautiful gardens in many styles. Villa Serbollini in Bellagio with unrivaled panoramic views is a fantastic day out. Bellagio itself is a perennial favourite for holiday makers with it's cobbled streets and unbeatable views. Do not miss Villa Balbianello in Lenno as featured in the 007 James Bond Casino Royale movie. Walk to the villa or take the private boat (5 euros) from Lenno lido (15 minutes by car from the apartment) with golden sandy man made beach. The villa and it's majestic gardens overlook the deep waters of the lake. Drive down to Cernobbio (15 minutes south of the villa) for an idyllic lakeside walk. Menaggio, with it's palm lined promenade is another pretty lake village worth exploring. Many boat activities from windsurfing to sailing are available on the lake as well as other water sports. Mountain bikes are also available for hire if you wish to venture into the vast mountains that surround the lake. Sant Anna and La Griglia nearby serve superb seasonal and regional cuisine with excellent wine lists and are just a 5 minute drive from the apartment. Argegno village is full of excellent restaurants from fresh lake fish (Emilio's), pizza (La Corte), Barchetta-typical local cuisine and upmarket dining at La Piazetta.
