This is the ground floor apartment.

The master bedroom has a double bed with orthopaedic mattress and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom with twin beds also has orthopaedic mattresses and has use of the second bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There are built in wardrobes in each bedroom along with additional pieces of furniture.

The spacious living area comprises a six seater dining table and seating for all including a sofa bed. There is a Satellite television with a variety of international channels and a DVD player.

The seperate kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, microwave and modern utensils. There is access to a rear terrace area where washing can be dried.

Vsta Mar First & Ground Floor

This is one of two modern luxury apartments at Vista Mar and can be rented separately or as a pair for larger parties. Both apartments are beautifully furnished to a very high standard and offer a warm welcome to our guests. One is Ground Floor, the other on the First Floor which can be accessed by stairs or lift. There is secure underground parking with lockable store ideal for golf clubs, beach equipment etc. Each apartment has free WiFi installed, Satellite television, electric steel blinds and spacious furnished balconies with built in BBQ overlooking the shared pool and jacuzzi with partial views out to the Atlantic Ocean.The golden sand beach at Porto de Mos can be reached by foot or by car and both take about 5 minutes. There are two very good restaurants on the beach serving freshly caught fish amongst many other dishes. The historic town of Lagos just 2km away with its narrow cobbled side streets and colourful market square offers a large variety of restaurants, bars and shopping. The area has a wealth of excellent Golf Courses.

Hi my name is John Barnard, I live and work in Norfolk, England with my wife and our pet dog Millie. Our two children have grown up now but still visit us regularly or decide to come home to stay for a while! Having spent many golfing holidays on the Costa del Sol we decided to visit the Algarve for the first time in 2006. We instantly fell in love with the country and its people, so much so that we decided to invest in property here in Lagos. We bought our first two brand new properties at Porto de Mos which were ready for rental in July 2008, our second two which are closer to the old town of Lagos and the Praia Dona Ana beach are brand new for 2010. We would love you to share our experiences of this truly lovely area of the Algarve.

Why John Barnard chose Porto de Mós

Vista Mar is a new development in Porto de Mos just 5 minutes walk from the Porto de Mos beach which has two excellent cafe/ restaurants/ bars. Vista Mar is a five minute drive from the ancient old walled town centre of Lagos with its varied range of shops, cafes restaurants and bars plus the very popular marina. Lagos is an up and coming tourist destination on the Algarve which is receiving serious investment in its infrastructure with improvements to its town centre and marina as well as the new motorway links to Faro airport. from the two apartments.

What makes this apartment unique

The two apartments at Vista Mar are directly one above the other and can sleep up to a maximum of 12 people between them although 8 would be more comfortable. Beautifully furnished they offer a welcoming retreat should you be staying for a summer holiday, a long term winter let or an activity break. The apartments are managed for us locally by an English family Company (Algarve Accomodation Agency) meaning there is always someone on hand to meet and greet and help resolve any issues during your stay. Once you have decided to stay in one of the apartments the agency will issue a booking form, take a secure deposit and take you through your reservation to completion.

Whether you take one apartment or both you will be sure to have a great time in a beautiful area of the Algarve.

Changeover Day:
The ideal changeover day is a Saturday but this is flexible especially out of season. There is a small aditional charge for a Sunday. Cheap midweek flights make out of season breaks very attractive and the owners appreciate the need for flexibility.

Notes on prices:
Prices are based on four people sharing an apartment and additional charges may be applied for extra persons.
For stays of 10 days or more one mid term clean and laundry change is included.
Prices include wifi.
Apart from July, August and early September if you rent one apartment at full price for one week or more you can rent the second identical apartment at half price for the same period.
Discounts are available for long winter lets.

Notes on accommodation: The apartments are serviced by English agents based in Lagos who will make sure the apartment/s are clean and have the keys ready for you on your arrival. They will also try to look after any problems you may have with the apartment/s during your stay. The apartments are fully air-conditioned with electric steel blinds to all double glazed windows and patio doors. There is a central vacuum cleaning system to all rooms. We are introducing Wi Fi for the 2013 season as demand for this has risen sharply over the last few years. Outside: Both properties have patios to the front and the rear. The front patio is accessed from the kitchen and is ideal for drying clothes etc. The centralised vacuum system is located here. The rear furnished patio catches the sun for most of the day and into the early evening. There are views of the shared swimming pool and out to the Atlantic Sea. The patio has an inbuilt barbecue ideal for alfresco dining and can be accessed from the master bedroom and/or the lounge.

Cozy and comfortable

Stayed for 6 weeks in this very clean and well equipped apartment. The building is very secure with good internet service. Great location as we love the outdoors. 5 minute walk to the ocean with two restaurants open year round . Also the local bus stops at the beach. 30 minute walk to the town of Lagos and 20 minute walk to major grocery store.

Great apartment

The noise from the construction work next to the apartments was very noisy at times , but we still enjoyed our stay . Good area to stay for birdwatching amd walking .

Modern, clean and great location

The accommodation is very spacious and located in easy location of De Mos beach. Being so close to the pool was great with the kids as it allowed them very quick and easy access.

Antonio's restaurant over looking the beach serves great food. All in all very happy with our time here.

Nice appartment in a bad location

The appartment itself was nice, comfortable and modern. The outside furniture was a bit poor though. It only consisted of a small table and four chairs. The pool area was nice.

However, the views were not nice because of the big construction site in front of the house. There was also a lot of noise from the construction site, which made it difficult to enjoy spending time outdoors.

We didn't know about this beforehand, and were quite disappointed. There was no seaview at all (partial was promised), but the beach was very close.

Wonderful apartment

Late review! Stayed here for 3 weeks in August 2014. What a gem. 10 mins from beach, great apartment with all mod cons. Really enjoyed our stay. Provided everything we needed and even though we know Lagos really well we had never stayed this part of the town. Great for our daughter with the pool, safe environment and 5 mins drive from town. As Arnie said - We'll be back! Highly recommended. Thank you John.

Im Großen und Ganzen ok

Die Großbaustelle verursachte schon viel Lärm (pünktlich ab 8:00 Uhr !). Zum Glück waren wir oft unterwegs oder am Strand. Die Wohnung war sauber und großzügig. Der Vormieter hatte den Griff der Waschmaschine abgebrochen. Die örtliche Verwalterin wollte den Schaden sich darum kümmern und reparieren lassen, dazu kam es aber innerhalb der ganzen Woche nicht ! Schade, so konnten wir keine Wäsche waschen. Aufgrund der neu gebauten Appartment-Anlage sollte die Wohnung wohl umgetauft werden (Vista Mar), denn das Meer sieht man jetzt nicht mehr !

Danke für die positiven Kommentare bezüglich der Wohnung. Entschuldigung über den Griff der Waschmaschine. Leider begannen die Bauarbeiten in der Nähe, ohne dass die lokalen Eigentümer gewarnt wurden. Zum Zeitpunkt der Buchung gab es Meerblick! Diese Arbeiten sollen bis Anfang 2018 abgeschlossen sein und den Frieden in die Region zurückbringen. Ein neuer Name wird vorbehaltlich der Genehmigung für 2018 in Betracht gezogen.

Its only a 5 minute walk or drive to the large golden sandy beach at Porto de Mos where you will find two very good restaurants which offer snacks, drinks or full meals including freshly caught fish either inside or on open terraces which can be covered in the evenings. These have great views out to the Atlantic Ocean.

The area boasts some great beaches at Meia Praia and the award winning Praia de Dona Ana. A visit to the lighthouse on the peninsula at Ponta Da Piedade is also well worthwhile.


The nearest International Airport is at Faro about 75km away and takes about 50 minutes by car via the A22 dual carriageway. Many major airports offer flights to and from Faro (budget airlines included). The whole of the Algarve is very easy to navigate and the best way to travel is by hire car. A hire car is easy to arrange and most useful if staying at the apartments for exploring the area, shopping at local supermarkets etc. A visit to the restaurants and bars in Lagos town is best by taxi.
