Detached villa situated in the exclusive residential area of Cotobro in Almunec

A charming detached villa set in in own tropical gardens with a private pool. Villa Estrella de Cotobro has breathtaking views over the beautiful Bay of Cotobro and stunning mountain views. It also has the advantage of being south facing which affords all day sunshine. There are various alfresco dining areas, and lots of sunny and shady places to sit and while away the day.

Villa Estrella de Cotobro is fully legal and registered with The Andalucía tourist authority.

The lounge all the usual facilities, Satellite TV with free to air UK channels , DVD , Hi-Fi as well as a really good selection of books and DVD's .There are two terraces off the lounge each with the facility for outdoor dining, with amazing views and over looking the pool and garden.

Underfloor heating and Air-conditioning available, Please enquire.

All bedrooms and the lounge have ceiling fans .



The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a dishwasher and microwave.

The villa has two bedrooms one with two single beds and one with a double bed and its own en suite, each bedroom leads onto a balcony again with sea and mountain views.....

The villa has a good size family bathroom .

Downstairs there is a lovely shaded seating area with Andalucían tiles and potted plants, also a utility room / pool room with washing machine , toilet and wash hand basin.

The pool is private with ample loungers and sun shades plus a shaded swing seat , surrounded by tropical gardens.


Villa Estrella has a a charcoal BBQ with a dining area under an arbor covered with bougainvillea.. .

About Christina

After many years of coming to the area on holiday we knew that we wanted to retire here. My husband is a builder and after building homes in the UK he decided what he really wanted to do was build in Spain, what better place to build than the place we knew so well.. After at least 5 years of looking for a suitable building plot we eventually found one in Cotobro, were we built two houses, Villa Estrella being one of them..

Members of our family also love the area , Due to visits to us two other family members have now bought holiday homes close by.

Why Christina chose Almuñécar

The main advantages of this villa are its very private , very well equipped and of course the the stunning sea and mountain views..We love Almunecar, its a very friendly town and we consider the town to have just the right mixt of residents from different countries while still managing to remain typically Spanish..

What makes this villa unique

The Costa Tropical is a very beautiful area of Spain, unlike all the other built-up Costas, where the mountains come down and meet the sea. Wonderful unspoilt beaches and coves and stunning scenery. Villa in most idyllic spot overlooking the fabulous Cotobro Bay and Punta de la Mona peninsular. Wonderful climate, restaurants and places to visit.” All in all lots of activities if you want to be active or a beautiful pool and garden to relax by.

Notes on accommodation: The Villa is ideal for a family holiday. In the Summer months ,you have the choice of air-conditioning (please enquire ), or very quite ceiling fans. In the Winter the villa has the benefit of underfloor central heating . Due to high terraces and balcony's the villa isn't suitable for children under 5 years old. This is a non smoking house. No pets allowed. Outside: This villa has mature gardens with lots of places to relax, a lovely covered shady area to sit and read, complete with tropical pot plants, the swimming pool of approx 5.5 x 5.5m is private. Ample sunbeds and shades are provided. A BBQ is available for your enjoyment. The villa has off road undercover parking. Utility Room: Downstairs utility room with automatic washing machine./ Pool changing room with wc and wash hand basin. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Final clean included in the rental, bedlinen and ample towels provided including beach / pool towels. Bed linen and towels changed once a week

My wife and I had a wonderful stay in Villa Estrella. The views from the balconies are fantastic, whether you're watching the sunrise at breakfast or watching it set with a few accompanying sundowners! The villa is well laid out and very well appointed. The nearby town of Almunecar is within walking distance (just mind the hill on the way back!) and has good shopping, beach, restaurants and bars. The next nearest town of Herradura is a smaller version of Almunecar, but you need transport to get there. We recommend lunch in the Marina del Este, which is visible from the balcony. Again, you will need transport. The owners, Christina and Peter, live in the villa next door and are always on hand to offer help or advice. We can't thank them enough for the multiple times they came to our rescue! If you want to get out and about, the local, English speaking taxi service is excellent, but if you want to strike further afield, a car is a must. Granada, Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada are practically on the door step and make for a good day trip. The more adventurous could reach Seville or even Gibraltar. We're not ones for visiting the same place twice, but we might have to make an exception with Villa Estrella.

In one word, Villa Estrella is "SUPERB"

Over the past ten years, we have stayed in villas located in Granada Province and the Costa Tropical, but by far this is truly the best. Whether you are on the lounge balcony or either of the two bedroom balconies, the view over the sea and Marina del Este is stunning.

The design and layout has been carefully thoughtout, the three outside terraces on different levels add to the features. Peter & Christina should be complemented on their attention to detail. Although in the background, they were always available for advice and recommendations.

It was my wife’s birthday on our second day there and by emailing Christina in advance, she arranged for flowers, wine and cava to be in the villa on our arrival, plus also recommending and pre-booking the Los Geraneos Bar/Restaurant in Plaza de la Rosa, where we had an afternoon lazy lunch to celebrate. After eating there, I can also recommend this restaurant, the food was excellent.

You do need a car, the road down from the villa to the Playa is really steep, do not recommend walking up and down. Taxi prices reasonable, from the villa to Playa Bar/Restaurants €6 or villa to Almunecar €10.

My wife and I have just had a fantastic holiday staying at Villa Estrella.

It was perfect for us. There are numerous sun terraces, beautiful secluded gardens and swimming pool. The only downside for me was having to leave.

The villa is comfortable and extremely well equipped. We wanted for nothing. I would not hesitate in recommending it and will happily return in the future.

Perfect in every way

As seasoned travellers including many visits to Spain we needed to find a villa with views that was well located for a months stay. Villa Estrella exceeded our expectations and offered comfortable accommodation with outstanding views in a quiet location. The pool and pool area was a delight and we spent many hours relaxing there. The local town Almunecar was close enough to walk to (although the villa is at the top of a steep hill) and offered everything we required for a month 'living' in Spain.

The owners were delightful and whilst they were close by were totally discreet and offered plenty of advice on local amenities.

As travelers we have a golden rule not to return somewhere as there are so many places to see, however Villa Estrella and Cotobro/Almunecar were all so good that we intend to break our rule and use this villa again.

Amazing location and Villa

Just spent an amazing 2 weeks in the beautiful Villa Estrella cannot recommend highly enough. Definitely one of the nicest properties I have ever stayed in if had to would score 10/10. Location is fantastic with amazing views of sea and Marina del est spent many evening on top balcony ( are several balconies to enjoy). Villa is even better than pictures depict on western the BBQ area under a beautiful pergola where we had several lovely evenings not to mention beautiful a gardens ( including lemon tree). Villa spotless pool was so lovely villa had everything you could need and Christina and Peter were just fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone just a lovely part of the world thank you so very much Peter and Christina.

Stunning views

Villa is lovely. Clean, bright and everything works!! The owners are helpful but un-obtrusive. The star of the show is the view. Sorry to re hash a well worn word but they simply are - spectacular. A peaceful spot but within a short drive of almunecar and la herradura

Villa Estrella de Cotobro is 0.6kms from the nearest beach. The Costa Tropical has 19kms of rugged coastline with coves and beautiful bays, there are also 26 different beaches with excellent facilities, all set against a backdrop of majestic mountains.


The nearest airport is Malaga which is 85kms away. Granada Airport is about the same distance, but Malaga has a far greater selection of flights. Car hire is essential. Lots of very reasonably priced car hire companies are at the airport.


It is possible to walk to restaurants and a supermarket from the villa, but it is down a steep hill. Almunecar is less than a five minute drive away. Also within easy reach are the beautiful cities of Granada, Malaga, Almeria, with Seville and Cordoba near enough to go for the day. Of course not to be missed is a visit to the world famous UNESCO world heritage Alhambra Palace, which is just under an hours drive away.

Further Details:

Almunecar is a town of charm and character, overlooked by a Moorish castle. It was founded almost 3000 years ago by the Phoenicians, its the tourist capital of the Costa Tropical, it boasts a micro climate which allows the cultivation of tropical fruits not found in other parts of Europe. Guests who know the area tend to come back again and again. Guests who do not know the area are surprised and delighted by its beauty and charm very unlike the concrete sprawls of other Costas.There are many restaurants to sample here, if you are a lover of fish this is the place for you, most nationalities are catered for, a three course menu del dia can be enjoyed for as little as 7.5 euros. Also remember on the Costa Tropical when you buy a drink the tapas are free. There is no shortage of things to do, these include the excellent water sport facilities, the best diving in the region, divers will discover the best underwater courses here than anywhere along the southern coast.

3 Golf courses are within an easy drive, and paragliding to name a few. For family fun, Almunecar has a water park which is open during the Summer months, a bird park, a new aquarium and a lovely botanical gardens, Parc del Majuelo, where very often different festivals and concerts are staged. Try coming over Semana Santa (Easter), Almunecar's processions are regarded as some of the best in Spain. The pretty seaside town of Nerja is only a 20 min drive away, visit the famous Nerja Caves. Also well worth a visit is the hilltop white village of Frigilliana, enjoy the amazing sea and mountain views, followed by a stroll around quaint streets with lots of pretty shops, again only a 25 min drive. For naturists there are a couple of beaches, the best being Cantarrijan, which is very close. In Almunecar there are all the shops you need as well as banks and supermarkets. Booking Notes:. A £100 security / breakages deposit deposit to be paid into the owners bank account 1 month before arrival, this will be returned within 24 hours of vacating the villa, a reminder will be sent a week before the deposit is due along with directions and key safe number. .

Final clean is included in the rental rate providing the property is left in a reasonably clean condition and no extra cleaners or painting or repairs need to be undertaken .

Changeover Day:
The changeover day in June, July, August and September is Saturday..., All other months changeover days are Saturday and Sunday. ,. Arrival time 3pm, departure time 10am.
