About Anna Ward and John Willer
Anna Ward and John Willer both have long links with Yorkshire. Anna was born in Hull and John has run marathons over pretty much all of it. We keep up our connection by spending some time every year here at Minster View in York. We really enjoy strolling round the city, we get to go to the cinema on the river on a near daily basis and we top up our marmite supplies. (If you're puzzled by the last point it's because we live in Granada in Spain the rest of the year.) For us, spending time between Granada and York is pretty much perfect - and we know how lucky we are...
Anna Ward and John Willer purchased this House in 2002
Why Anna Ward and John Willer chose York
What we love about Minster View is pretty much summed up in the name! We have views of York Minster from all of the rooms at the back of the house, which is lovely. I particularly like looking at the Minster when doing the washing up. (Don't worry - we also have a dishwasher.)
What makes this House unique
York is a great city for strolling, with everything easily accessible within a few minutes walk. And because we are right in the centre we can pop out, have a look around, and then nip back for a cup of tea….. Perfect.

What a lovely review. Thanks very much Christine and glad to hear that you had a good stay. Anna and John
Wonderful place and very convenient for the central part of the city.
The location is fantastic; 2 minute walk to Minster, Theatre, and Art Museum. A few minutes walk to most of York's key attractions.
The place has plenty of character, it is very clean, plenty of kitchen equipment available and although located on a main road, this did not adversely affect our stay.
Also plenty of places to eat on your doorstep; literally.
Only a two minute walk to secure parking. During the week we stayed we only used the car once.
Would definitely recommend this property.
Great location and a great place to explore York from
Great location. Clean with everything you need for a stay. Beds are also comfortable. Great choice of places to eat and drink nearby. Ghost bus tour was great and we enjoyed the theatre as well. Everything was in walking distance .
Thanks for your positive review. We're glad to hear that you had a good time. We've never done the ghost bus tour - though we have enjoyed the ghost walks - we'll have to give it a go. Anna
Fantastic apartment, wonderful location
We love York, one of my favourite destinations; we’ve been numerous times before, but this wins hands down for location !literally a two min walk & you were by the Minster. Comfortable and cosy, although in fairness York has so much to see & do, we were barely in the apartment! Great communications from the property manager Toby, who dealt with my confusion re: car parking directions very courteously. Nothing we could fault
From York to Scarborough (a lively seaside town with attractive double bay and castle) is 40 miles (and takes about an hour by car). It is also accessible by bus and train. There are plenty of other appealing seaside destinations within reach, for a day trip including Flamborough Head, Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby.
The nearest airports are:
East Midlands airport (96 miles or 2hrs by car).
Leeds/Bradford airport (31 miles or 1hr by car).
Manchester airport (82 miles or 1hr 45m by car).
The airports are also accessible by bus and train. A car is not necessary for exploring York. Everything is nearby and accessible on foot. A car is useful, although not vital, for further afield sights such as the Yorkshire Dales or the coast.
York is ideally placed as a base to explore the beauty and tranquillity of Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales (about a 2 hour drive) and the North York Moors National Park (approx 1.5 hours drive).
Local shops such as the supermarket, chemist and a wide selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants are all available within a few yards of Minster View. The majority of the sights of York are available within a 5 - 20 minute walk.
