About Karen Sanders
I am a nurse with 40 years experience. I teach Nursing School part-time, and have my own business as a Transitions Coach for Nurses and an RN Patient Advocate. I am a master gardener and an avid mountain biker. I am in love with nature here in these Blue Ridge Mountains. It is with great gratitude that I share these incredible space, yard, forest, and nature with you.
Karen Sanders purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Karen Sanders chose Asheville
This house is located on the side of a mountain three miles from a busy part of South Asheville. It is completely rural and isolated. We have a huge diversity of wildlife including bears, turkey, fox, migratory birds, hawks, owls, rabbits, and many others. It is a beautifully resting and restorative property. I was drawn to this place because of the quietness and spirituality here.
What makes this Apartment unique
There are views of the mountains from the front porch. The back and side of the house are located in a rhododendron forest so it is exquisitely quiet and peacful in this restful and spiritual place. There is a natural spring in the back of the forest and when it rains, you can hear it gently babbling. The apartment has been appointed with natural, restful light blue tones with lovely furnishings. It was completely renovated when my daughter went off to college. It has its own entry, with a beautiful back porch on which to sit and have a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. There is artwork in the apartment done by a local artist.

Karen was excellent and the house was perfect, cozy, and the location was just what we needed. I have already recommended this property to a friend. Thanks Karen!
Karen gave great recommendations on where to grab a bite and did not disappoint. One suggestion was my daily latte fix. Any thing that needed attending to was done fast (a light bulb blew). The accommodations made it nice to come back to after a day of being out and about discovering Asheville.
Pleasant place to hang out
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. It was precisely the peace and quiet both of us were looking for. Linda
Wonderful getaway location. Karen is an amazing host!
Comfy, quiet and restful. The bed is amazing!!! Thank you so much Karen, it’s like a home away from home when we visit.
Comfortable and clean!
We were very happy with our stay. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The bed was very comfortable! This was a great, central location to come back to after checking out the area. We would stay here again if we're back in Asheville.
This is our second time visiting this great place. It’s super clean, peaceful, friendly hosts and plenty of room for 2-3 guests!! We will always try to stay with Karen & Steve when in Asheville and this apartment is available 😁
Again thank you both for opening up your home once more! ♥️
Asheville offers a myriad number of sights, sounds and tastes to offer.
We are 10 miles from the NC Arboretum and Bent Creek National Forest which is home to 39 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails. Sierra Nevada Brewery is 10 miles to the south of us and offers craft beers in a magnificent setting. We are 10 miles from downtown Asheville which is a bustling center for music, restaurants, shopping bookstores, and untold different sites to see. We are 10 miles from the Asheville Airport and it is very easy to get to access from here. There are multiple restaurants with 5 miles of our apartment with a range of culinary flavors and tastes. This is a beautiful setting, very peaceful, quiet and restful. We are a hub for integrative medicine practitioners and healing arts practitioners. We have multiple cultural influences in our community and we are tolerant and a patient community.
