Cozy log house located 60 mile from east entrance of Yellowstone National Park

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Quiet and cozy with a western flare and amazing mountain views

Our log home is located 8 miles from downtown Cody and we are approximately 60 miles from the East entrance of Yellowstone Park and not far from the northeast entrance through Cooke City, MT. The house is located a half mile off county rd 2AB at the end of a cul-de-sac in a very quiet neighborhood. We have 5.2 acres that is fenced for horses. No pets inside. The terrain is rolling hills and high plains dessert which consists of sage brush and cactus. Landscape around the house has grass, trees, bushes and a perennial flower garden. We sit at about 5400' elevation with spectacular 360 degree mountain views in each direction. We often see antelope, mule deer, pheasants, and golden eagles from our property. We have low humidity, virtually no bugs and many sunny days. The owners live in the upstairs of the house and are renting a private walk out basement of our log home that has been fully remodeled in 2013. It is about 1200 sq ft. It includes one bedroom with a king size bed and plenty of storage. It has a very spacious bathroom, double glass vessel sinks, marble counter, a 5' shower. It includes a laundry room/utility sink located just off the bedroom which will be shared with the owners. We have a fully equipped kitchen that has a full size refrigerator, electric stove, custom counters made from wood that was milled and stained and stocked with pots, pans, dinnerware and the basic supplies for making most meals. The kitchen is full of antiques from the owners old homestead where they were raised in Western Pennsylvania which includes a butcher block, Hoosier, old bottles and tins. The bar comes from a historic cabin on a local private ranch made in the early 1900's. A warm and inviting living space includes couch and love seat recliners, a 55" smart TV that has Hulu, Amazon and netflix for movie watching along with surround sound and a custom stone gas fireplace. We have a basic local cable, no direct TV, but we have a blu ray and VHS player and we also have wi-fi for internet access. Just a few steps out the back door is a 20' tepee with Queen bed and electric cord for a "glamping" experience. The tepee will share the bathroom in the house. The tepee has a fire pit on the outside and chairs to kick back and enjoy the mountain views and starry night skies. There is a gas grill and picnic table outside your back door also. This property is ideal for couples traveling together.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely amazing stay. Everything was as described or better. They had everything you needed and more, much more. Very Friendly and had absolutely no issues with anything at all. It's close to town but far enough away to be out in the open. Loved hearing the coyotes howling at dusk, no worries though they were not anywhere near the house. Cody is a short drive with many restaurants to pick from. Cassie's and Bubba's were very good with HUGE portions!! Walmart is near by for anything you might have forgotten. Yellowstone is a short drive and I would highly recommend Beartooth Highway, absolutely stunning views and a fun drive into the small towns of Montana. We had an absolutely wonderful visit and hope to return soon. You will not be disappointed! Thanks Aaron and Denise!! Oh I forgot the decor, it was awesome! I could have spent all day looking at everything!! Thanks again!

Owner's Response: What a great family, be careful of the "cows" Joel, LOL, they sound like strange critters in the night😂 We are so glad you enjoyed the stay and wish we could have spent more time visiting with you.

Home away from home, only better!

  • 5 of 5

An amazing, wonderful, relaxing oasis! We were met by Denise and Aaron, who showed us around and made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. Every situation would be covered! The decor was beautiful and fun to look at. The view is spectacular. Sunsets and animal watching a bonus! Only a few miles from Cody, where shopping, the rodeo, Buffalo Bill Museum etc, tons to do. One hour from Yellowstone park. The perfect location for our home base. The Tepee was an added bonus in that it added extra room and privacy. Already planning a girls trip back to take advantage of the areas horseback riding, shopping and Yellowstone. Denise and Aaron are the most excellent of hosts. It was a pleasure meeting them and to be able to stay on their property. If I could I would rate them a 10!

Cozy retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This establishment should be in a home decorators magazine or on HGTV a home decorated with western flair perfectly laid out. Denise prepares the house with everything you need. You can tell Denise and Aaron love their house by every little attention to detail. They have all info for the surrounding areas and were very kind suppling us with suggestions. It was such a nice getaway we will always remember.

Very cozy

  • 5 of 5

A very nice place to stay away from town. Great for 2 couples or a small family. The kitchen is well stocked, and the house is beautifully decorated in a western motif. And the tepee is very comfortable to sleep in. Aaron and Denise are super hosts, very polite, and make sure you have everything you need. They also are very willing to offer advice on local things to see and do, including restaurants etc. A very pleasant couple. We will be up in Cody again next June and plan to stay at this beautiful home again.

Beautiful and cozy home base for your Wyoming adventures!

  • 5 of 5

Owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, cabin is gorgeous and full of things you didn't realize you forgot and are available for your use. Teepee is amazing and so comfy, offering a bit of an escape if traveling with a larger party. We enjoyed the cabin so much that we decided to keep an entire day clear just to lounge around and enjoy it while working on personal projects. Would definitely return if the chance presented itself
