A luxury single storey villa, lovingly restored and furnished in a true traditional Spanish rustic style. Set in an acre of very beautiful and totally private tropical gardens, with a large pool, numerous terraces with all day sunshine, pergoda and barbecue area, it offers the perfect paradise retreat in a rural setting of almond groves and orange trees, yet it lies only a 5 min drive from the popular town of Alcossebre and 10 mins walk to 1 of 5 blue flag beaches. And for the golfer we have just converted 2 acres of our land into our own private golf driving range. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful tranquil setting this is the ideal location.

Why Mike Wilson chose Alcalà de Xivert

El Nido (The Nest) a little bit of history………

We bought our semi derelict finca with 5 acres of land back in 2000.

The first phase involved refurbishing the finca and establishing the garden area. The former took about a year by the time we got planning etc, but a really good local Spanish builder served us proud.

The garden was a bigger challenge. 300 cypress trees 2ft high and 50 hollianda trees were planted around the new fence to give us privacy, and the 10 palms that sat in a line along the front of the finca were moved around the “garden”.

Inevitably, we had the unforeseen problems, of which the largest by far was electricity. When we bought the finca we were told “no problema,” its only 300m away, should cost about 5000 euros and should be in within 12 months…. Not to be!! Four years later, muchos euros, and quite a lot of hassle, we eventually got there.

Second Phase

It had always been our intention to extend the finca to give us 3 bedrooms and a bit more living area. So plans approved, the second phase started in March 2003 and was completed later the same year.

Beneath our land we have an underground lake of clean water, and when in 2005 electricity finally came , the lawn could be planted, and the most important asset, the lawnmower, eventually bought!

The lawn you now see is five times the size of the original planted area, but each year we have extended it, by putting in footpaths and planting the removed grass sods to form new areas.

The almond field at the front was planted back in 2003 and the last three years we have had good crops.

The rear field has just been converted into our own private 18om long driving range.

In September 2007 our son had his wedding here at El Nido, and in 2014 our daughter was married here also. Both events we could never have imagined back in 2000

A full alarm system is fitted to the villa linked to a central security call centre. Outside: Outside there is a large barbecue area and numerous terraces for sunbathing and also for shade. Patio with swing seat and pergodas. Other seating areas with sun loungers. The extensive lawned gardens have a wealth of trees including, apricot, fig and lemon. A charming rooftop terrace provides panoramic views of the sea, mountains and adjacent almond and orange groves. Utility Room: In garage there is a washing machine and additional fridge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa is cleaned and prepared with laundered linen before arrival. Bath towels and beach towels are provided. A welcome pack of essentials is provided. A weekly clean can be arranged at small charge. Other: Large garage with full size table tennis and dartboard. A large covered barbecue terrace with seating area. A separate dining table and chairs is provided on the front porch terrace. A boule court situated at rear of property. 5 bikes provided.

Perfect Retreat

This Villa is beautiful both inside and out. Spacious clean and very well maintained. The owners went the extra mile and organised us a driver for nights out at a very good price. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone and we will be booking again next year.

The local resort is about a 5 minute drive away away with shops restaurants bars and beautiful beaches.

Beautiful Villa with amazing pool and garden

The villa was spacious and clean. The garden was huge, my sons played football and ran around without any danger. The pool was lovely which we spent most of our time in. The villa is remote and peaceful but you can drive a very short distance into the town where it was lively and the beaches were lovely. It was one of our best holidays. Thank you Mike and Gay x

AMAZING!Very homely and with pool & driving range!

This is an impeccable property. It really does feel like 'a home from home', and therefore we had a very comfortable stay. It is obvious that MIke & Gay (owners) are dedicated to this property as the attention to detail, comfort and cleanliness is second to none. The gardens are incredible, and its designed so you can move around the gardens to sunbathe or eat with sun or shade! The BBQ is fantastic, and the latest addition of a driving range in the back field is amazing - and there is also a boules pitch and ping pong.

The town is easy to get to and there is a big supermarket 10 mins drive away with everything you need. Local beaches are excellent, with great facilities for kids.

Mike was a great host and was really helpful throughout on phone/email. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely villa & fantastic garden

Lovely villa with amazing garden and pool, which has obviously been a labour of love for the owners over a number of years. The area is a peaceful rural location, still within easy cycling range of the town, Alcossebre and beach. A real home from home, our boys loved the pool and table tennis as well as the local attractions including the bird zoo: Jardins du Papagayo. The town is pleasant and thankfully devoid of the worst trappings of tourism that can be found further South down the coast. We look forwards to returning.

Paradise found!!

This is the most amazing villa we have stayed in. The photographs do not do it justice. It is very well appointed and had a super layout. Mike the owner was very attentive and communications were superb throughout the booking and run up to our holiday. We were meet by a delightful couple who oversee the villa, they went out of their way to show us everything, even down to tips about parking in the town and supermarkets! My husband especially enjoyed the fantastic BBQ area!!

We managed to get our girls out of the pool long enough to enjoy supper in Alcossebre along the seafront. It is a lovely part of Spain and thankfully only a few other Brits were there!!!! We will be returning.

The immediate coastline of Alcossebre boasts 5 beautiful sandy beaches with blue flag awards (5 mins drive from the villa). The long sandy/pebble beach of Cap I Corp is 15 mins walk from the villa and leads onto the first of the above beaches.

Football, volleyball, windsurfing, jetskiing and peddalos are all available in season.


By car from: Valencia approx 1 hour (BA, Easjet, Iberia, Ryanair), Reus approx 1.5 hour (Ryanaiir, Thompson), Barcelona approx 2 hour, (BA, Iberia, Easyjet etc.)

NEW Castellon Airport 15km away from Stanted and Bristol Ryanair

Also cruise and drive from Santander or Bilbao.

Drive from Dover 1200 miles approx.


Car hire is recommended to explore this special coastline as well as the beautiful inland countryside and mountains with their historic towns such as Morella and Xhodos. Peniscola is a 15 minute drive north home to the film El Cid. Valencia is 1 hour to the south, a wonderful day out with fantastic architecture new and old, and home to the 2007 Americas Cup.

This coastline is part of the Sierra de Irta National Park in the Castellon Region on the Costa Azahar which means Orange Blossom Coast.

Alcossebre is a typical Spanish town where many from Madrid and Barcelona spend their vacations.

With tree lined promenades you will not see the usual high rise apartment blocks, the dreaded lager louts because it is not that sort of place. It is very Spanish giving a taste of the real Spain. That said the town is lively and buzzing with local shops, banks, tapas bars, seafront cafes and good restaurants

Cap i Corp is the rural coastal neighbour to Alcossebre 5 mins by car or a pleasant 15min cycle, and in the busy season of August a quiet haven. However the famous Tunnel nightclub and beach bar in Cap i Corp is only 20 mins walk from the villa and if not for dancing is well worth a visit for morning coffee.
