A very special place
A family of 6 stayed in the villa. It has been the most beautiful place we’ve stayed. Every detail is of high spec, the size of the villa means everyone can find a quiet space. We loved the new table tennis table and the pool was warm enough for even me, and fussy. The location is very peaceful, up in the hills, surrounded by greenery with views of the sea and the mountains of Albania. We loved watching the sun rise from our balcony and hearing the bells on goats. It’s a great location to access beautiful beaches and the sea. We needed a car as some of our family would struggle with the steep walk back to the villa from the local village. It’s impossible not to fall in love with this place.
Beautiful place to stay
From the moment we walked through the door, it was obvious this was the best villa we had ever stayed at. There were so many lovely touches, the view was amazing, the pool was delightful, the beds were so comfy, in fact, it was so good we are going to try and go back next year. Easy to find the villa, close to amenities, but so quiet you wouldn't know Kassiopi was less than a mile away.
Thank you so much for the lovely review. We are really trying hard to be the best - so it is great that guests are telling us that we are delivering! Rest assured we will maintain our standards. Look forward to seeing you next year.... Lucy
Perfect in every way
We loved Villa Loukia, amazing views, was everything we expected and more
Perfect for a relaxing holiday
Happy guests and happy owners! Lucy
Our second visit to Villa Loukia and we enjoyed it even more than last time. The villa is luxurious and comfortable and surrounded by olive groves above Kassiopi. The views are stunning. It is so peaceful and lovely to hear the tinkling of the goat bells all around us.
We all loved the large swimming pool and all the various seating areas outside. We didn’t cook (far too many good restaurants in town) but the kitchen is very well equipped and the indoor dining area is beautiful. We did take it in turns for an early morning stroll down to the bakery to collect breakfast though!
Lucy (the owner) is very friendly and helpful and a great source of local knowledge.
Kassiopi has everything. Shops, bars and great restaurants. A marina. Boat hire - highly recommended. It’s a friendly safe place to stay but with great nightlife (Kostas bar was our fav).
We were 6 adults and the villa is so spacious we often “lost” one another! We were grateful for the aircon and overhead fans though the villa seems naturally cool and airy.
To summarise, none of us wanted to leave and we are already planning our next visit!
Perfect in every way!
I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe this villa! Beautiful inside and out, incredible views, spacious, extremely well equipped, comfy beds, well maintained pool and gardens, spotlessly clean, every extra you could think of, from phone charging sockets, Sky TV, table tennis to large and fluffy pool towels, lilos and outside drinks fridge! We loved the fact that it is Eco-friendly with solar panels, and separate recycling, and working towards being completely carbon neutral.
The owner Lucy is incredibly helpful, from the initial enquiry, through the whole booking process, and was always speedy in replying to any queries we had.
I would heartedly recommend this villa. We are hoping to book for next year! Many thanks x
Thank you - your review makes all our hard work worth it! I’m one happy owner. Lucy x
Special interest holidays:
Corfu is very popular with walkers in spring, early summer and autumn. Comfortable climate and lovely scenery, so reminiscent of Gerald Durrell's 'My family and other Animals', attracts walkers at this time of year. Walking in Corfu is both relaxing and a lovely way to unwind by taking in the beautiful surroundings of the countryside with its lush green scenery and numerous wild flowers before the heat of summer. The flora and fauna explosion of spring have to be seen to be fully appreciated and as a backdrop to a relaxed walk nothing could be better to unwind and enjoy this time of year on the island.
Port of Kassiopi is 10-15 min walk. All the unspoilt beaches of the NE coast are within a 10-20 minute drive. Even in August it is possible to find secluded beaches where you can be on your own! Highly recommended - the Eucalyptus lined cove of Chouchoulio, Gialiskari and Agni (best Tavernas on Corfu) or Kalamaki for sand and shallow water for small children.
Easyjet flies to Corfu from 1st April to end October direct from Gatwick daily. Other airlines are Ryanair, Monarch, Flybe, Thomas Cook, Olympic and Aegean. The airport at Corfu Town is a 1 hour drive away. Car hire is advised but not essential. Car hire pick up and drop off available from the airport.
The delightful Venetian Capital, Corfu Town, is situated a 1 hour drive away (approx 40km). It can also be reached by boat and bus. Highly recommended.
Kelia is a small, tranquil hamlet of houses, spread out through the olive groves approximately 1km from the main road.
Kassiopi is a charming little fishing village, with a traditional port. Tourism has had its influence, but down at the harbour you can still find local fishermen supplying the local restaurants with fresh daily fish. Tavernas, shops, beaches and bars offer something for everyone. Teenagers will appreciate the evening life - with several music bars and 'low key' clubs. It is a safe environment for them to meet other friends.
Water skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, wind sailing, boat hire all available close by.
Water parks - Aqua Land is the biggest, just west of Corfu Town or the Hydropolis near Acharavi.
Scooter/bike/buggy/rental available in Kassiopi. Numerous boat trips/fishing trips and excursions available locally. Horse riding available on the Avlaki Peninsula.
About Lucy Rickman
My husband Nick and I (Lucy) have run a business in England for the past 30 years. We have been visiting Corfu regularly since the children were small. Once we discovered Corfu nowhere else seemed to match it as it worked for us as a perfect holiday destination - quiet, peaceful, beautiful views, secluded bays, good water sports, friendly people and plenty of sun. Even as the children got older, NE Corfu was still the perfect destination - it really does cater for everyone in the family.
Lucy Rickman purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Lucy Rickman chose Corfu Regional Unit
We literally just stumbled across Villa Loukia whilst on holiday in 2007 and it really was a case of love at first sight. The house was nearing completion but the outside was a complete builder's site and there was no pool. Perhaps it was the fact that the children were beginning to leave home that influenced us into deciding that it was time for a new adventure. Buying a house in Corfu had not been our plan but certainly since making the decision to allow our hearts to rule our heads we have not looked back. We completed in December 2007 and then had a VERY stressful 4 months getting the outside finished, pool constructed, snags repaired, house furnished etc - all from my computer in England and just in time for the 2008 season. In true Greek style it was ready with minutes to spare! Between 2015 - 2017 the villa was extended and completed refurbished inside. It is now just the perfect holiday house.
What makes this Villa unique
Villa Loukia is unusual for NE Corfu because although set in a secluded position in tranquil olive groves, away from other properties, it is also in walking distance of the village of Kassiopi. This is a real bonus as our past experience showed us that with the majority of villas we HAD to drive to the tavernas at night. Using the experience we gained over the years we also wanted to make sure that the villa was well equipped with everything you might want on holiday and that the kitchen was such that you could actually cook in it (if you want to)! The views from Villa Loukia are stunning & it is the location and setting of the house that we fell in love with. Our guests to date all agree! From 2018 our goal has been to make Villa Loukia carbon neutral and we are committed to reducing climate change. Carbon offsetting is used to balance out our emissions by helping to pay for emission savings in other parts of the world. We pledge to offset each year the carbon connected to the use of Villa Loukia as a holiday rental. This includes electricity, car usage by guests and staff, laundry and ALL guest flights. We are really pleased that in 2018 Villa Loukia produced 80% of the electricity used (including air conditioning and pool heating) from the Photovoltaic Panel System on the roof and the Solar Water System. In total for 2018, we have calculated that Villa Loukia used some 38.4 tonnes of carbon. We have rounded this up to 40 tonnes and this has been offset with a donation to carbonfootprint.com and their Community Projects Portfolio in Developing Countries. The pledge we make is personal and on behalf of our Granddaughter, Imogen, so that she and her descendants can have a future. It does not come at any financial cost to our guests. I add blog up-dates to the villa website if you want more information.
